2. What is it…
Multiplication is another way to add up multiples
We start with 0 and move up through the real
number system.
There are a number of secrets thatmakecertain
multiplication tables easier
3. How to learn 0&1
Multiplications
0 times any number is 0.
This always is true.
ie. 1x0=0, 5x0=0, 560x0=0
• 1 times a number is the number that
is being multiplied
When multiplying by ones the number you are
multiplying by 1 is your answer.
ie. 1x4=4, 1x6=6, 1x7=7, 1x435=435
4. 2’s
The secret of two
multiplication tables
•YOU WANT TO DOUBLE
THE NUMBER
•ie. 4x2=4+4=8
•ADD THE NUMBER TO
ITSELF
•ie. 2x2=2+2=4
5. 5’s
All you need to do five multiplications is to
be able to count by 5’s.
5..10.15..20..25..30….
ie. 5x4
5…10…15..20
ie. 8x5
5….10…15..20…25
6. 9’s
The finger trick for
nine makes it much
easier to get these
multiplications
-only can go up to
9x9 with the trick
7. 10’s
Our number system is a ten
based system.
Multiplications by 10 are similar
to ones but you add the zero.
ie. 10x9=90
You can also count by 10’s
10x5= 10..20..30..40..50
8. 11’s
11’s are similar to the “1”
multiplication tables as well
because it is like multiplying by
two 1’s in a visual sense.
ie. 11x5=55
11x5=55 and 11x5=55
11x3=33
9. Practice Makes Perfect
Timed Multiplication Tables are a great way to
practice
Doing multiplication at home with everyday items
is good as well.
We can count out counters in our classes or use
linker cubes to do 5 & 10 times tables
Don’t give up because all you need is continued
practice!!!
