This lesson is meant for the active board. By using it with the active board the lesson becomes interactive and exciting for students. This is a lesson focused on introducing the clock and how to tell time. For this first slide I intro the topic and ask students about some of the clocks shown here. “Have any of you see a clock like this one before?” (spotlighting the clocks with no numbers, just hands).
For this slide I introduce the hands on the clock and what they mean. I can move the words away from the hand and quiz the students to help them memorize the characteristics and definitions of each one.
This slide’s purpose is to introduce the numbers on the clock and where they are placed. I will ask the students if they know where any of the numbers are placed and then call on students to drag and place the numbers accordingly.
This slide is fun because now that the students know what the numbers mean and what the hands mean the students can come up and drag the hands to specific spots and tell what time it is. This slide is mostly for practice and makes practice more interactive than things like timed tests.
