When users select criteria like price range and processor, unsuitable models would be grayed out. A reset option allows restarting the comparison. The results would display specifications for comparable models to aid selection. Additional help, SMB resources, and related products are also provided. The tool aims to simplify laptop selection through an interactive filtering and specification presentation process.

This option shows the removal of the A-Nav from the usual left
placement on the page and incorporating It's look Into the center
of the page below the horizontal layout of the product families.
The functionality of this A-Nav like area would be different from
today's functionality as explained below.
The user is given three main areas in which to select options to
help narrow down the best product families for their needs:
Product Usage, Product Basics and Additional Features.
The Product Usage content would display choices similar to how
the 'Great For' descriptions speak to users today on the site.
This wireframe shows a possible representation of the Product
Basics content area. These choices are broken down into the top
specifications a user considers when purchasing (Price, Display,
Processor, Memory, Storage, OS). When a user clicks on one or
more options, depending on their choice, the product families that
don't meet those qualifications would 'gray out' indicating to the
user that those product families are not an option based on their
selections and needs.
[Note: The question mark graphic, when clicked, would pop open
a smaller window to give definitions of select specification terms
and features. This will help educate the user with specific
terminology. Also, displaying tips on what would make one
specification or feature better than another would be helpful to
inform the user of as well.]
The Additional Features content would display options for
additional choices such as weight, optical drives, graphics,
multimedia, networking, battery, warranty, colors/style, etc.
There is a 'Reset/Show All' link so that the user can clear all their
selections to start the comparison tool over from the beginning. A
'Compare' link is also available so that the user may compare the
product families that are currently shown. Results would show
similar to the content area in wireframe Option 2 (displaying
specifications from what the user had selected in the comparison
tool or top specs if no options selected).
Beneath the main comparison section are areas for additional
help as well as small and medium business related links and other
product up sell links.
