Summer Term Reflection Paper
Summer Term Reflection Paper As I look back on the beginning of my journey to a better career and life I can remember the weeks and months
leading up to the first day of class. I remember visiting the college and speaking with an advisor to decide exactly what it was I wanted to do, and
the steps it would take for me to reach my goals. I recall talking with the advisor about the requirements for my General Education credits as well
my need to take a preparatory class for algebra because I scored to low on the placement exam to be allowed to take the full college level math. Along
with the preparatory math class my advisor told me that I needed to take "Foundations for College Success", which I questioned. My advisor explained

My favorite speaker was Mr. J.T. Revenau, I am sure I am butchering the spelling of his name, but his stories of his experiences helped open my
eyes to what hard work and dedication to following ones dreams can do. Another great guest speaker was Mrs. Kathleen VanBalsom from the
student success center; I found her information about the services provided in the student success center such as career development, financial
and academic advising, and registration to be very helpful for getting ready for the upcoming fall term. Our guest speak Art Chiang from the
Library was also very helpful with his explanation of how to use the Library search tools for obtaining information from the library on just about
any subject I may need to research in my journey through college. The last guest speaker I would like to refer to is our last one of the term Mrs.
Melinda Santos; I particularly found useful her explanation of how your grants, loans, and scholarships worked together. I can say that the guest
speakers were definitely one of my favorite parts of this course. As for information gained from the course study that I can find useful the list is
pretty big and I hope to not leave anything out but feel that might be almost impossible to do. I remember in the first week your instruction laid a
pretty solid base for what to expect in this class and how the information that I was going to learn would be useful for the rest of

The Killed Man Was Not High On Adrenaline
The canister bounced and tumbled along the road ahead of them, then came the sound of a second, and a third. Bright flashes from behind. A cloud
of white smoke swirling around their legs thickened quickly into a blinding wall as they ran on. His throat had constricted and he started to cough.
He was choking as he realized Penny 's hand was no longer in his. Stumbling onwards with tears streaming, he collided heavily with the stonework of
a wall and sank down into a crouch to rub at his stinging eyes. "Storm!" Her hand reached down. He managed to catch a glimpse of her hair. Penny
pulled him up and he followed behind, blind to what was happening around them. People ran by, pushing past them, tripping and tumbling over one
another. Two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He dropped his shoulder and spun around fast on his feet, twisting out of the policeman 's grasp. There were shouted threats from the officer, the
words he could not make out, but he kept running until he caught up to Penny. They kept running, never daring to look back. They ran through
clouds of gas, bumping past clutches of the blinded until they came to a stop at the top of some steps. The familiar large pavement stones under her
feet. The blue and white flags flapping wildly on the high poles above. Penny recognized they were in Martin 's Place, the main pedestrian
thoroughfare through the city's central business district. She felt strangely relieved. Turning a corner, they found themselves among office workers
and shoppers with stunned expressions, attempting to process what was happening a block away from them as they hurried down the footpaths to
safety. The police vans. The choking gas, blowing through the side streets. The deafening blasts of stun grenades echoing off the towers. Distant
screams. The dark flitting shadows of silent helicopters overhead. In the streets below, pedestrians wanting no part of the protest hurried to escape
the chaos. She pulled at Storm's arm. "There 's a mall this way!" Turning a corner, they entered a cafe empty of people apart from the man behind the
counter regarding them both with a nod of acknowledgment and a gaze of suspicion. He did not bother to offer any service. They could see the street

As a preschooler, you won't remember much of the things you were doing. In that time your brain and your fine motor skills are still being developed
and you were just learning to speak as well. It is also a vital part of our lives, where you start to learn how to read, write, and be more self–aware as you
continue aging. By the time I was the age of 3, my family and I have relocated to Miami after moving out of Colombia and ever since then we have
lived there our whole lives. At the time it was just my mom, sister, grandmother and I all living in an apartment. I shared a bedroom with my sister
and would go to bed whenever my mom was tired. Around this time, my grandmother would spend time with me and help me enhance my cognitive
view by teaching me how to read books. My favorite toy to play with around that time would be the Hot Wheels car. I would build the track and then
put them inside and watch in wonder as they are racing in the track around and around. My favorite book to read would be the Berenstein Bear series.
Every night, my grandmother and I would read a chapter of the book and then she'll ask me questions about it. Throughout those years, I would love to
play hide–and–go seek with my cousin and his friends. I started going to school at the age of 6 because of my birthday, which was during the month
of September. My first party was at the age of 6. My mom and grandmother would invite everyone from my

Analysis Of Bay Leaves And Cinnamon Stick
Thelma B. Thompson is the author of the story "Bay Leaves and Cinnamon Sticks",this was her first novel. The overall theme was"Self–Love."
Throughout the novel, it was shown that love can be compassionate in many situation. But taking the time out to learn to love yourself will most
definitely pay off. However, true love will find its way to whom it belongs to. Most people think that love is a horrible thing, but doing it the right
way can be a lifetime of happiness." Before loving anyone else, loving yourself must come first. In the novel Bay Leaves and Cinnamon Sticks the first
main character in the story is Millicent but throughout the book she is well–known as Millie. She is from Jamaica. When Millie was young she came to
the united states because her mother was unable to pay a debt, she was traded off. Therefor, she went to the United states where she worked two jobs
to support her family.
Millie would always send money to her husband Jude back in Jamaica to ensure that her family was taken good care of and to make sure that there

Reflection Paper
Have you ever had to deal with a serious issue in your life? Maybe you have accomplished something that was challenging? Have these events ever
made you realize something about yourself? For the most part, everyone has dealt with something that made them find something about
themselves. The person could have won a sporting event or they could have lost a loved one. For instance, one thing that has made me realize
something about myself was when my grandmother died. My grandmother, just like Maria Gatta, passed away due to cancer. She was a very
important aspect of my life and when she passed it made me realize a few things about my character and life. It showed me that it is more
important to remember than to forget and that I can bounce back from problems. Overall, everyone learns a lesson from all events in life, good, or
bad. At first, when I lost my grandmother I was heartbroken. She was always there for me, through thin and thick. From the day I was born she was
right by my side, taking me to the beach, or teaching me how to play sports. When I first learned of her death I was devastated. I thought that there was
no point and I was so mad at God for taking her away from not just me, but all of my young cousins and new family members to come. They would
have never met her, which just made me more sad. They would never know what a "nana story" was, or ever truly understand her one of a kind
personality. It crushed me to know that they would not know and it killed me that

Analysis Of The Voyage Of The Frog
The Voyage Of The Frog
By Donaven wells by: Gary paulsen
The Voyage of the Frog starts off when the main character's uncle gets cancer. He was always a sailor then the main character named david had
learned all about sailing from him so before he died he told david his last wish was for him to take the frog, his boat, to sea until he couldn't see land
anymore and throw his ashes into the water. So he did what his uncle wanted him to do but on the way there things get a little rough. On the way there
he runs into a whole ton of problems the first one he encountered is a giant storm out of nowhere, the second one is running out of food and water, the
third one is exhaustion and need of medical attention. The genre of the book is fiction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
David is slowly getting more exhausted although he does get sleep he always has to be ready for anything so he doesn't sleep well which means
he can't put in his all. Also every day his medical conditions are getting worse and he will probably need medical care when he gets back. Although
he still keeps going because he has to take care of his head and shoulder while also avoiding getting injured again from mussels being pulled so he
can still do his daily task, be able to still operate the boat and do any necessary repairs needed without enduring pain to himself.
In conclusion throughout all the struggles he had dealing with the frog when he did get found he wouldn't leave it so the people that found him gave
him all the supplies he would need and he then started the journey back to his home without a worry because him and the frog were no longer two
things they were one and acted as one.David no longer looked at this journey as a bad thing but a good time and a bonding experience with the frog
and the sea the ocean a beautiful thing but it is also one of the most dangerous things. So in conclusion I really liked this book.
The theme of the book is although times can be difficult you have to continue and push forward and patience will have good results.
The mood of the book is exciting it kept me wanting to read more.
The tone of the book is serious because when I read it it seemed so real and like I was there with david.

A Story About The Trials Of My First Year Of Wrestling
Freshman Wrestling (A story about the trials of my first year of wrestling) The football season had just ended in Orem Utah and my coach was an
assistant wrestling coach. People had been telling me things about wrestling the whole football season to the point where I actually considered it.
I went to open mats one day and decided that I was going to wrestle. There were two other first year freshmen in my weight class and I beat both of
them. In my first year of wrestling I was already varsity. The whole year I got pounded on over and over again by kids who had been wrestling for
years. I kind of just accepted the fact that I was going to lose most of my matches. Our very last dual of the season was against Orem High School
who were our mortal enemies. The dual started off at the 120 pound weight class. Me being in the 113 pound weight class meant I would be the
last one to wrestle. The dual was incredibly close and by the time I was up Orem was winning the dual by one point. My coach told me to go out
there and keep it simple. I went out, took him down, and pinned him in just fourteen seconds. The crowd exploded. Everybody started chanting my
name. The captains picked me up and put me on their shoulders as they carried me around the gym. This event was important to my life because it
gave me confidence that I needed, it kept me wrestling because I was on the verge of quitting, and it was a moment that I'll never forget my entire life.
Confidence is something huge for

Social Expectations Of Love
Love is not a concept easily defined to its fullest capacity. It has been personified, resented, and over exaggerated throughout the history of drama
and has left readers on the edge of their seats as plots unfold. With love, there are no set guidelines or feelings that can go along with a person's
actions, but there are societal expectations that cause a couple a great deal of misery if their love does not fit within them. Renaissance dramas often
broke through these expectations to challenge the way people viewed and thought about love. Love is portrayed as a means for freedom, a lustful
exchange, and a reward for not following social expectations in the plays The Duchess of Malfi, 'Tis a Pity She's a Whore, and The Shoemaker's
Holiday proving that it is an aloof social construct with a range of meanings. In the play The Duchess of Malfi, love is a means of keeping an
acquired freedom. For the title character, the Duchess, she earned a peculiar freedom when her first husband died. She gained his political power and
essentially her own freedom. In the beginning of the play, her brothers, the Cardinal and Ferdinand, threaten this freedom by all but forbidding her to
remarry: "Marry? They are most luxurious/Will wed twice" (Webster, John. 1.1.299–300). The margins tell us that "Luxurious", in this case, means
lecherous, suggesting to The Duchess that this would be her if she were to remarry. Ferdinand's insistence the remarriage is a bad idea is for two
reasons. One, he

I Stand Here Ironing, By Tillie Olsen And Everyday Use By...
The two short stories, "I Stand Here Ironing" by Tillie Olsen and "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker shows two mothers being concerned about one of
their daughter and question how their daughters have turned out to be. The authors show this by using multiple symbols to convey the families'
relationship. By this, the authors use the iron, quilt, and clock all to connect how each symbol shows a significant meaning in the family.
In "I Stand Here Ironing," Olsen conveys the symbolic meaning of an iron, which connects to Walker's symbolism for the quilt in "Everyday Use."
Both these objects are ironically associated with a mother in general. Furthermore, in these short stories, Olsen represents the iron as a mother's
ability to smooth out the wrinkles in her daughter's life. By this, the mother states, "I stand here ironing, and what you asked me moves tormented
back and forth with the iron". In other words, she throws all her painful emotions and guilty of not being a mother to her daughter Emily into the
iron. In addition, the iron tries to destroy these emotions that are a representation as "wrinkles". Also, as the narrator is ironing back and forth, the
action is used as a flashback as where she went wrong in raising Emily. Similarly, Walker shows how ironically a quilt is like a mother, in where both
share a legacy and are also used for comfort. In this short story, a mother tries to reconnect with her daughter through their heritage, but later realizes
that she cannot give

Bang the car door shut and the engine roars with the smell of exhaust on that Easter morning. I was 5 years old getting ready for church and my

watching the pile like he should have he left it unattended and came inside the house to get me and my mom that's when everything went horribly

. When you are in this situation, it is not a good idea to start pursing another relationship. This is a great opportunity to look after yourself, review
the relationship to understand what went wrong, and to discover your part in the relationship breakdown. Many people will tell you to get back
out there and start dating again. This can sometimes work, however, when you are still reeling from a break up, it is difficult to be fully
emotionally available to be with another person. How do you know when you are ready to be in a relationship again? Here are some thoughts that
may help you to decide: * If you are still angry and hurting over the break up, then you have some unresolved issues you need to deal with. It is not
healthy to blame your ex for all the problems, you also had a part to play. Can you see where you may have added to the situation? Take
responsibility for your part in a kind and compassionate way. * Do you have some limiting beliefs about men that keeps you attracting the same type
of man? Are you repeating old patterns that are not serving you having the relationship you want? If so, being single is a great time to explore

Short Story About The Midnight Theft
As the sun slowly settled, darkness began to overcome the Earth. Sickness had come. The sickness slowly but readily crept into each home. It was
the Midnight Theft. The destructive plague stole during midnight it stole lives. Deep in the heart of Tukenasville, people were dying, and the
country was beginning to perish. The flowers withered as they bloomed. Animals fled to holes to live out the last moments of their life. People
were distraught, and chaos was invading every planet in the macrocosm. People called me Nikolaos Gonzalo. I was the last of the Warriors of Pos.
Long ago, the Sisters of MoirГ© ordained my doomed fate. I tried to bargain with them to change it, but in the end, I captured them and locked them
up in a repository on a cliff. I was to lead the expedition to find the cure for the Midnight Theft. That, however, was not the reason I would go on
this journey. My best friend, Totem, was dying of a rare illness called Takigifeay. It was causing the slow built up of lactic acid on his bones. I knew
that death would come to him soon. Legend spoke about a necklace that can bring life to anyone or thing. Legend said that it have belonged to an
Oceanian, one of the water people. The Lost Jade Necklace of Serenity was what it called, and it could bring healing to the Earth. Nonetheless, it could
obliterate our civilization.

Experiences Of My Experience
I want to share some of my experiences that my Dad and I have shared together. He has taught me that I can overcome anything that comes my
way. He has helped me to become truthful. These experiences have shown me that lying gets you nowhere in life. Also has helped me to be on
time and arrive at least 20 or 30 minutes early. One of the other ones were that hard work pays off in the end because without hard work we would
not be as happy as we are now. One of the experiences was my Dad and me riding our dirt bikes together .The trail my dad took me on that was
probably the scariest was at Kelly Canyon. I was 9 years old and had only been on a dirt bike a handful of times. I didn't know how to ride very
well. It was super hard for me to get up the hills but on this particular ride coming down was even worse.. It had started to hail and rain really hard.
The trail became really slick and muddy. There was a huge cliff to my left and swear I thought I was going to die. I wrecked so many times. Going
over my handlebars once and laying my bike down several times. I thought we would never get off that hill. In crazy times likes this it is best to
just take a deep breath and know you have what it takes to do it. As a result of that ride I learned to trust myself. The second experience was when I
lied to my Dad. I think age nine seemed to be my most troubled year. One day my brother and I thought it would be fun to hit some rocks with tennis
rackets out of the neighbor's rock

The Importance Of Friendship In My Life
As time passes, the pure essence of friendship becomes less and less visible. Realizing that your life is moving so fast brings chills that go beyond
the years you have already lived. Hanging out with my youth group gets rid of those thoughts entirely. All my life, I was under the impression that
new is always better. My parents constantly encourage me to try activities and events that I would have never considered without their persistent
nagging. Attending a church service with my youth group was one of those things. At first I was nervous and afraid, praying that I wouldn't make a
bad impression on them. To my surprise, every single one of them personally welcomed me with open arms. This was the first time I truly felt that I
had made the right decision.
As a whole, my youth group consists of 20 members, with ages varying from 16 to 25. Being introduced into a community with such contrasting ages
concerned me right from the start. In my mind, I was saying "Man, why am I even hanging out with these guys? We have nothing in common, and
they all look way older than me." Yes, I may have been a bit judgemental early on, but luckily I never expressed myself out loud because that initial
assumption was way off the mark. They turned out to be the most purest, kind–hearted people I have ever met.
One of the greatest experiences in my life involves a muddy face, a banana cream pie, and a can of whipped cream. It was 2014, and I had just arrived at
a soccer field near my church.

How Does Christ Fit Into The World?
How does Christ fit into the World?
Another pile of my life view is how my faith has shaped my world. This pile has been easy to pick out what belong there, yet is confusing with how it
fits into the entire puzzle. Even through the confusion, there is a foundation in how I have understood my faith, how I have grown into it, and how it
has a hierarchy of my entire worldview.
Part of my live view is seeing the world through Christ. Faith is what keeps me grounded in my decisions and helps me focus on how I want to live.
When I think about how I see the world and how I fit into it, Christ is always my foundation. When I reflect on my faith, it is understand how I follow
Jesus and what it looks like. There are sometimes when I do not vocalize my faith, as it has never been something I do in public or in class but it
may be easier being able to formulate what I will say before through the discussion section. In my life, God appears during discussions with others to
better understand a person's actions. I have learned to visibly show my relationship with Christ as it makes me realize that I do have faith in Christ
and am not ashamed of that relationship. Another way of how I had understood my faith is actively seeking for God. The places where I feel God's
presence the most is in the place of highest need. It's amazing to see how people turn to God in times of help, but have the strongest connection to him.
I don't always want to be struggling to feel God's presence or look for

Personal experience
One of my personal experiences that I had was when my family decided to move from New Jersey to Florida. I never planned on moving with
them but my mother basically forced me into moving with them. It wasn't really all that moving stuff because the new house was actually pretty
nice, it was just I had all my friends there and I was doing well in school. Nothing I said convinced my mother so after a week of packing we was
off to Florida. The first week being there was a horrible week. Nothing was going right for me, I missed the school bus for a whole week, dropped
my milk on my new shoes, and tripped over nothing in lunch. It was just trying to move back but parents always have this life lesson speech about
trying to make new friends and try to get used to being here until we move again. It's been about a month since we moved to Florida and I met about
zero friends but I got used to living here since I've found something that interested me as an after school hobby and that was fishing. There's barley any
lakes or ponds in New Jersey so fishing wasn't really something you do as a time waster. I usually fished right after I got home but on that day it was
rainy and it wasn't really a good time to fish so I just decided to practice my free shots until it started raining hard. I think I was outside for about
20minutes and suddenly a couple kids from my new school asked if they can shoot

The Day Of The Summer Tennis Team
It was the day that I tried out for the summer tennis team. I was so excited because my mom would be coming to tryouts. It is going to be clear

with people like chocolate chips on a cookie. Then, tryouts started. My mom had dropped me off and drove around a block to change my brother's

The Characteristics Of Overcoming Adversity In The Glass...
During times of difficulty, people are forced to survive and prevail by using specific traits that help them do this. For example in the memoir The
Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls grows up in an environment that forces her to use certain traits to help her overcome adversity in her childhood. For
example, her ability to distract herself from negative situations, her acceptance during tough times, and her constant trust that her parents will only
do the best for her, are a few examples of these traits. As the story progresses, Jeanette continually and constantly uses these traits. An example of
one of these traits can be shown by her ability to distract herself from negative situations. Jeanette is constantly put in troublesome situation created
by either parents, her environment, or even herself. Her ability to focus on everything but the negatives is something that allows her to overcome
adversity much easier. This example can be shown when she was moving for the first time, and her dad stated "anyone who didn't like to travel
wasn't invited on our adventure" (Walls 18). Jeanette then "burst into tears" (Walls, 18). Her losing her cat can be seen as a very gloomy situation
for Jeanette, so she must overcome it by using her ability to distract herself. The idea came from her mom, since Jeanette said she "got us singing
songs like 'Don't Fence Me In' and 'This land is your land'" (Walls, 18). As can be seen, Jeanette's ability to sing away her feeling of unhappiness when

The Story of James Rhio O'Connor
Too often in life, we are so preoccupied with the destination that we forget to simply admire the journey. When I first read the story of James Rhio
O'Connor, I was truly inspired. I am completely in awe that a person can be told that they only have a year to live, then they can turn around and
prove all of the doctors and scientists wrong and outlive his prognosis by more than six years. He showed with lots of determination, you can prove
that you're strong enough to survive anything. If in my life I was placed into a situation where I was given a dire cancer prognosis, I would most likely
have a hard time accepting it at first. But then, I will remember that life is like an ocean of sand. It will always slip through your fingers and
always slip away from you. There will, however, be a small part that stays in the palm of your hand and to always be thankful for that. I would
surround myself with family and friends and begin a new lifestyle sounded by those I love and cherish. Then I would begin to conduct research on
what to do to make my stay here on this earth as long as I possibly could. I will always have to remind myself that whenever you find yourself
doubting how far you can go, you just have to remember how far you've already come. I would always remember everything I have faced, all the
battles I have won, and all the fears I have overcome and I would always remember there is so much more to come. I am a very lucky student, I have

Why I Didn 't Be Fine
It was late in the day and I just got a call from the school they said '' Your daughter Bailey passed out in class she is being rushed to the hospital right
now.''
I replied ''ok.''
A million thoughts that day were running through my head when I hung up the phone, is she ok?, why did this happen?, what's the quickest way to
the hospital? I was speeding all the way to the hospital. I was lucky I didn't get pulled over. When I got to the hospital I rushed over to Bailey she was in
a wheelchair and a technician guy was talking to her. Bailey was just going in for her first test and I said ''she would be fine.'' but I didn't know that
for sure, I hoped she would be anyway.
Bailey went to go get her first test done and I had to sit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I quickly said '' but if she's not in the pediatric wing I can't spend the night with her.''
when they arrived at the door of the room it looked like she was given a bed in a nursing home everyone was at least a decade older the Bailey's
grandparents. The aide then said '' watch out coming through''
He had almost bumped into an older mans cane and another one's walker. When I was walking by someone had said that their Aunt Mabel would
be getting a roommate and that would be nice. Everyone kept looking from me to Bailey and back again so I quickly announce that Bailey just
fainted and she's only there for tests. The nurse started asking Bailey questions and acted like Bailey was interrupts when she answered no on some
of the questions. The one nurse looked over at me and said visiting hours are over in a really scared but flat voice i didn't know what to say I looked at
Bailey and she gave me permission to leave.
When i walked out the door i just wanted to cry i didn't want to leave my little girl at the hospital all alone at night and not be able to watch over her
and make sure she is ok. I got to the car and it barely started but it did i just thought

Essay on Kate Chopin's The Story of an Hour
In Kate Chopin's short story "The Story of an Hour," there is much hatred. The first hatred detected is in the way that Louise reacts to
the news of the death of her husband, Mr. Mallard. Before Louise's reaction is revealed, Chopin turns to how the widow feels by describing the
world according to her outlook of it after the bad news. Louise is said to "not hear the story as many women have heard the same."
Rather, she accepts it and goes to her room to be alone. Now the person reading starts to see the world through Louise's eyes, a world full of new life.
In her room, Louise sinks into a comfortable chair and looks out her window. Immediately the image of relaxation seems to strike oddly. Reading this
story should... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She realized that although at times she had loved him, she now has regained her freedom.      Although this
reaction is completely unexpected, the reader quickly accepts it because of Louise's good explanation. She grows excited and begins to dream
about living her life. With this she wishes that "life might be long," and she feels like a "goddess of Victory" as she walks
down the stairs. This is a scary vision for an even more unexpected ending.      I just accepted Louise's reaction to
her husband's death, when the most unexpected happens; her husband is actually alive and he enters the room shocking everyone, and Louise
especially, as she is shocked to death. The doctors say she died of joy, when the reader knows that she actually died because she had a drams of
freedom and could not go back to living under her husband's will again. Then her dreams were shattered yet again due to this terrible man.
In conclusion the title, the "story" refers to that of Louise's life. She lived in the true sense of the
word, with the will and freedom to live for only one hour. Only an hour because her husband ruined the

Analysis Of Matched By Ally Condie
In the book Matched by Ally Condie it shows the problems the main character faces. The problem the main character Cassia faces ends up making
a change in her life. Though she didn't know what to do, she found a way to handle it on her own. The problem Cassia faced was being able to do
things that she didn't have to do because she could do it on her own. She found ways to fix her problem by asking he grandfather. According
Condie "But I never taken the green tablet. Because of Grandfather. I was so proud to show him when I started carrying it"(Condie 118). This
comes to a point that when Cassia struggled with a problem she found a way for someone to help her with it. Briefly, when the theme defines
"Don't doubt something in life if it's going to end up making a change in your life later on" this proves that if you have a problem you're facing,
you can always find other solutions to fix it. As Cassia fixed her problem of things being different from her society. Cassia's grandfather told her
inspiring things that would help her realize things in life, he was the one who helped her define for who she is in life. Her grandfather was the one
who made her realize she's a strong person and she can handle facing other problems on her own. Cassia's problem she's trying to fix is doing things
on her own/ Meaning when she had to acknowledge the fact her dad had lost something that was important to her, she had to do what she believes she
can do to find out why certain things

The Story Of A Ghost Town : A Story
Ghost Town The weather seems to match the old, rundown town; gloomy, dark, always raining. The people looked dull and a melancholy aura
followed most everybody. There is a reason to all this sadness though, a curse. An old mage casted a spell on the town and its people centuries ago.
During the day, the townsfolk were safe, but the night belonged to the mythical creatures of the world. Anyone who goes out after dark is said to
turn into one of the creatures and roam the city, forever stuck in a never ending dream. Many people were going missing, most recent the parents
of a girl named Eren. The town adopted her as a whole, but she stayed at an orphanage. She could be found in the old library, silently sitting, only
making sound to flip a page. On a chilly October evening, she was scanning the books with her eyes, when a small red book peaked her interest.
As she dragged her fingers down the spine of the book, it smelled of dust, she slowly opened it to the first page. She gasped and shut it when she
heard footsteps and soft giggling. Eren sighed deeply, but a small smile crept on her lips, it was only her friends trying to scare her for the millionth
time. "I know it's you guys, cut it out." The footsteps stopped and there was sume shushing, but eventually her best friend Amora came out, still clad
in her school uniform. "Sorry sorry, just wanted to have a little fun, it's always so boring in here with all the books and the reading. I want you to look

The Importance Of Turning Point In Life
Sometime in your life you will face turning points, but how would that change you? Will you think about different things you want, staying positive
when things go bad, and what growing up means, like all these characters? Brian from Hatchet, Moon Shadow from Dragonwings, and Rachel from
Eleven all faced turning point experiences that changed their life and what they thought. This made them understand certain things in life. No matter
what you characters went through is what you might face one time. Nobody has perfect life or choices. think, you will face a turning point in your life
and will also face problems. What all these Brian, Moon Shadow, and Rachel now know what to do in these similar problems.
Brian faced a turning point in his life when he was stranded in a forest which led to loneliness and hunger. For instance, he had to spend nights
alone and hoped "they would probably come today" (par.2). Although Brian hoped he would be rescued, his loneliness made him question and
when someone would come to the rescue. This was probably one of the scariest moments in his life because he had survived a deadly plane crash.
Now he thinks they will "Probably come in here with amphibious planes, small bushplanes with floats that could land right here on the lake and pick
him up and take him home" (par.4). Furthermore, Brian is now on his own in the forest trying to survive while he waits to be found. For example,

Well, this is it. Our last night. The last page of the scrapbook we call high school. Our scrapbooks are filled with memories from the first day we

special. Every person we encounter has a definite effect on our lives. If one face in our scrapbook were missing, a part of our lives would disappear

Iron Heart Summary
Iron Heart Book Review Most people have had negative moments in their lives, but none as life changing as Brian Boyle's. From waking up alone
in the ICU, to completing an Ironman in under 15 hours, Brian is a living miracle. Iron Heart follows this young man's life along with themes such
as determination, hope, love, and victory. When Brian awakes from his medically induced coma, he cannot speak or even blink his eyes. As a
reader, I could feel Brian's frustration and confusion while he could not ask the nurses and doctors what happened to him and why he ended up here.
Later on in the story, Brian learned he was in a horrible car accident and is on life support. Feeling useless, Brian realized only he could control
whether he wanted to fight for his life or not and decided to stay strong for his parents. This made me understand that love can get you out of the worst
situations. If you... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of moping around the house because he is now behind on his plans of going to college, Brian looked forward to the future and focused on
building up his body. This part of the story struck me as noteworthy because Ithought Brian would give up when his dreams of being a college athlete
were dashed. Of course, he proved me wrong and gained all his weight and strength back and was even invited to participate in the Ironman
Triathlon in Kona, Hawaii. Brian gave us a glimpse into his training life by providing us his weekly schedule for preparing for the Ironman. This
helped me visualize all the effort Brian did to come to this point in his life. After qualifying for the Ironman and only two weeks of training, Brian
was ready to prove all the doubters in his life wrong and show them that he made the journey from dying as a "skeleton boy" to truly living the dream
as a winner against the odds. Brian victoriously finished the Ironman in 14 hours and 42

My Personal Experience
I think I was outside for about
20minutes and suddenly a couple kids from my new school asked if they can shoot the ball with me. They

A Few Miles South Of Soledad, The Salinas River
A few miles south of Soledad, the Salinas River drops in close to the hillside bank and runs deep and green. The water is warm too, for it has
slipped twinkling over the yellow sands in the sunlight before reaching the narrow pool. On one side of the river the golden foothill slopes curve up to
the strong and rocky Gabilan Mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees– willows fresh and green with every spring, carrying in
their lower leaf junctures the debris of the winter 's flooding; and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs and branches that arch over the pool.
On the sandy bank under the trees the leaves lie deep and so crisp that a lizard makes a great skittering if he runs among them. Rabbits come out of
the brush to sit on the sand in the evening, and the damp flats are covered with the night tracks of 'coons, and with the spread pads of dogs from the
ranches, and with the split–wedge tracks of deer that come to drink in the dark.
There is a path through the willows and among the sycamores, a path beaten hard by boys coming down from the ranches to swim in the deep pool,
and beaten hard by tramps who come wearily down from the highway in the evening to jungle–up near water. In front of the low horizontal limb of a
giant sycamore there is an ash pile made by many fires; the limb is worn smooth by men who have sat on it.
Evening of a hot day started the little wind to moving among the leaves. The shade climbed up the hills toward the top. On

Describe My Grandmother
My grandpa was a person everyone around him loved. He was kind, supportive, and hard–working. I always loved seeing him every time I went to
Orange County, California. But now, I'm not able to see him in real life anymore... It makes me glad that he's alive and well in heaven but it
makes me sad that I can't see him anymore. My grandpa was the only grandpa I knew I could rely on. The other grandpa I knew and was related to
unfortunately passed away before I was even born. He always liked getting big and humble hugs from his grandchildren and he likes to grasp my
hand softly so he can know that I'm here for him. But one day, he just suddenly stopped doing that and never got to hug or grasp anyone's hands
ever again.. It was just one peaceful morning in a hospital, a lot of my relatives circled around grandpa's hospital bed. Everyone was anxious and
hoping that grandpa was okay. Some were already starting to burst into tears, others, were already starting to have tears fall down slowly and
patiently from their eyes down to their faces. Just looking at him made us all sad because he looked sort of miserable to be honest. All of my
relatives just had to urge to grasp and hold his hand firmly so bad and wanted to let him know he's okay. But, at least there was one good memory
that always remained in my head until now. I remember when I was little and I was visiting grandpa in the hospital, I fed him a spoonful of peas from
the smooth, firm bowl that I had already grasped in my

On a shivering night, Ramon and I went for a walk in the woods. The Old House Woods in Virginia to be exact. While walking halfway in the

distance. We should go back." I cried. " No, I wanna explore the forest we always walk on the trail let's try something new, "Ramon said with
excitement. " Ugh, fine just this once, but let's not take long. I hear crackling sounds like if something is burning. It sounds is coming closer to us

we should go back my legs are tired." I stated. " Hold on I still wanna explore these woods. It's interesting to see that there are a lot of circles made
out of sticks on the ground. If you want to, you can head back by yourself. I will catch up to you right now lemme just take some pictures of the

stories from when they are young. I get to soothe your premature baby and sit with her as she heals and grows until she goes home. I play board
games and color with children who are suffering from chronic illness and cancer. I hold your mothers hand as I tell her it's okay to go and that she is
so loved. I am a CNA, and though I may not be for long I put my entire heart and soul into it and love every second. I have long desired for the chance
to work in a medical setting and working in an assisted living home has made me realize that the job comes with so much more than the job

A Short Story : The Headless Horseman
What a horrid turn of events, that I have brought myself to. I'd thought I would never see such a tragedy coming to my prosperous life. Though it

odd reason some venture on into the pitch black forest. Though I am given many names, but the one I have heard many people screaming was "The

My Life Changing Event
A life–changing event is not something to be taken lightly. Throughout our lives, we encounter many obstacles and changes, some of which bring
us joy and excitement, others of which may be hard for us to handle. When I look back on my relatively short life, it may, at first, be hard for me to
think of an event that has truly molded and shaped the person that I am today. I have encountered several changes, but at the time, they felt like
mere speed bumps along my path. Looking back now, it is easy for me to see that these changes were not by chance, but were placed in my path to
form the person that I am today. When I think about an event that sticks out in my mind as one that was very important in my life, I think about
changing schools in the seventh grade. About halfway through my middle school career, I became very unhappy at my school and with life in
general. Upon discussing with my parents, we made the decision that I would switch schools and embark on a new journey in hopes to appease
my unhappy soul. At first, I felt as if a new school would not help; little did I know what a profound change it would have on my life. Upon first
glance, my new school did not seem like much of a fit for me. Everyone seemed to like it, but I was having trouble fitting into the daily grind of a
school that required much more effort and attention than I was ever used to. I did my best to keep up with everyone else, but this was hard for me,

What Is The Theme Of Summer Love In Birnam Woods
The short story, "Birnam Woods," by T.C. Boyle, revolves around a dysfunctional couple's journey to survive in a harsh winter. While Keith
struggles to earn a living as a substitute teacher, Nora has a degree but does not care to find a job. Together they live in a shack without electricity,
so they try to find a new home. They become house sitters for a rich old couple. Later Nora proceeds to find a job as a hostess at a restaurant. After
Keith meets Steve at Nora's workplace, they discuss Keith and Nora's relationship, which Keith reveals lacks passion. This discussion opens the door
for Steve to make a move on Nora. As Steve approaches Nora with a poem and Tequila, Nora doesn't resist his charm. Dejected, Keith then leaves
the house and finds a couple in their bedroom, passionless like the winter. The scene makes Keith realize that when passion dies, so does the
relationship. In the end, Keith discovers that he and Nora have been living the winter life, and Nora has moved on in search of another summer life.
Boyle's story shows the bell curve of a relationship with summer as the climax and winter as the low point. Therefore, Boyle tells the reader to enjoy
the young, summer love while it lasts, before winter comes.
Relationships does not last forever; the love between the two lovers can also be broken up by physical and mental events. Also, love very often
represents youth, because

I know she wanted to be more than that, right? Wrong. She had a boyfriend before I knew it . Meanwhile at home, " Get away from my family !" Dad

Summer Term Reflection Paper

  • 1. Summer Term Reflection Paper Summer Term Reflection Paper As I look back on the beginning of my journey to a better career and life I can remember the weeks and months leading up to the first day of class. I remember visiting the college and speaking with an advisor to decide exactly what it was I wanted to do, and the steps it would take for me to reach my goals. I recall talking with the advisor about the requirements for my General Education credits as well my need to take a preparatory class for algebra because I scored to low on the placement exam to be allowed to take the full college level math. Along with the preparatory math class my advisor told me that I needed to take "Foundations for College Success", which I questioned. My advisor explained that the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My favorite speaker was Mr. J.T. Revenau, I am sure I am butchering the spelling of his name, but his stories of his experiences helped open my eyes to what hard work and dedication to following ones dreams can do. Another great guest speaker was Mrs. Kathleen VanBalsom from the student success center; I found her information about the services provided in the student success center such as career development, financial and academic advising, and registration to be very helpful for getting ready for the upcoming fall term. Our guest speak Art Chiang from the Library was also very helpful with his explanation of how to use the Library search tools for obtaining information from the library on just about any subject I may need to research in my journey through college. The last guest speaker I would like to refer to is our last one of the term Mrs. Melinda Santos; I particularly found useful her explanation of how your grants, loans, and scholarships worked together. I can say that the guest speakers were definitely one of my favorite parts of this course. As for information gained from the course study that I can find useful the list is pretty big and I hope to not leave anything out but feel that might be almost impossible to do. I remember in the first week your instruction laid a pretty solid base for what to expect in this class and how the information that I was going to learn would be useful for the rest of ... • 2. The Killed Man Was Not High On Adrenaline The canister bounced and tumbled along the road ahead of them, then came the sound of a second, and a third. Bright flashes from behind. A cloud of white smoke swirling around their legs thickened quickly into a blinding wall as they ran on. His throat had constricted and he started to cough. He was choking as he realized Penny 's hand was no longer in his. Stumbling onwards with tears streaming, he collided heavily with the stonework of a wall and sank down into a crouch to rub at his stinging eyes. "Storm!" Her hand reached down. He managed to catch a glimpse of her hair. Penny pulled him up and he followed behind, blind to what was happening around them. People ran by, pushing past them, tripping and tumbling over one another. Two... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He dropped his shoulder and spun around fast on his feet, twisting out of the policeman 's grasp. There were shouted threats from the officer, the words he could not make out, but he kept running until he caught up to Penny. They kept running, never daring to look back. They ran through clouds of gas, bumping past clutches of the blinded until they came to a stop at the top of some steps. The familiar large pavement stones under her feet. The blue and white flags flapping wildly on the high poles above. Penny recognized they were in Martin 's Place, the main pedestrian thoroughfare through the city's central business district. She felt strangely relieved. Turning a corner, they found themselves among office workers and shoppers with stunned expressions, attempting to process what was happening a block away from them as they hurried down the footpaths to safety. The police vans. The choking gas, blowing through the side streets. The deafening blasts of stun grenades echoing off the towers. Distant screams. The dark flitting shadows of silent helicopters overhead. In the streets below, pedestrians wanting no part of the protest hurried to escape the chaos. She pulled at Storm's arm. "There 's a mall this way!" Turning a corner, they entered a cafe empty of people apart from the man behind the counter regarding them both with a nod of acknowledgment and a gaze of suspicion. • 3. Reflection Paper As a preschooler, you won't remember much of the things you were doing. In that time your brain and your fine motor skills are still being developed and you were just learning to speak as well. It is also a vital part of our lives, where you start to learn how to read, write, and be more self–aware as you continue aging. By the time I was the age of 3, my family and I have relocated to Miami after moving out of Colombia and ever since then we have lived there our whole lives. At the time it was just my mom, sister, grandmother and I all living in an apartment. I shared a bedroom with my sister and would go to bed whenever my mom was tired. Around this time, my grandmother would spend time with me and help me enhance my cognitive view by teaching me how to read books. My favorite toy to play with around that time would be the Hot Wheels car. I would build the track and then put them inside and watch in wonder as they are racing in the track around and around. My favorite book to read would be the Berenstein Bear series. Every night, my grandmother and I would read a chapter of the book and then she'll ask me questions about it. Throughout those years, I would love to play hide–and–go seek with my cousin and his friends. I started going to school at the age of 6 because of my birthday, which was during the month of September. My first party was at the age of 6. My mom and grandmother would invite everyone from my ... • 4. Analysis Of Bay Leaves And Cinnamon Stick Thelma B. Thompson is the author of the story "Bay Leaves and Cinnamon Sticks",this was her first novel. The overall theme was"Self–Love." Throughout the novel, it was shown that love can be compassionate in many situation. But taking the time out to learn to love yourself will most definitely pay off. However, true love will find its way to whom it belongs to. Most people think that love is a horrible thing, but doing it the right way can be a lifetime of happiness." Before loving anyone else, loving yourself must come first. In the novel Bay Leaves and Cinnamon Sticks the first main character in the story is Millicent but throughout the book she is well–known as Millie. She is from Jamaica. When Millie was young she came to the united states because her mother was unable to pay a debt, she was traded off. Therefor, she went to the United states where she worked two jobs to support her family. Millie would always send money to her husband Jude back in Jamaica to ensure that her family was taken good care of and to make sure that there house was being built. When Millie took a trip back home she ran into a big problem. Jude her husband never started on the house project and he was cheating on her. Millie was so confused because she has no idea where her husband was, and she did not understand how he could cheat on her after all she did for him and the family. Millie decided to go look for Jude and that when she found all the letters from his mistress. Millie had went to a man named Omega for help. He told her to send the letters back and cover them with a black cloth and then go buy herself some new undergarments. Millie then returned home and started a new job. Soon after Jude came to try to explain himself and what had happened. Jude tried to pay Millie back, but she was feed up with him. Jude later died. Millie buried him and then started her own life and she was happy. After all the things that Jude did to Millie she still had the strength to buried him. "Self–Love" is what got her through that. • 5. Reflection Paper Have you ever had to deal with a serious issue in your life? Maybe you have accomplished something that was challenging? Have these events ever made you realize something about yourself? For the most part, everyone has dealt with something that made them find something about themselves. The person could have won a sporting event or they could have lost a loved one. For instance, one thing that has made me realize something about myself was when my grandmother died. My grandmother, just like Maria Gatta, passed away due to cancer. She was a very important aspect of my life and when she passed it made me realize a few things about my character and life. It showed me that it is more important to remember than to forget and that I can bounce back from problems. Overall, everyone learns a lesson from all events in life, good, or bad. At first, when I lost my grandmother I was heartbroken. She was always there for me, through thin and thick. From the day I was born she was right by my side, taking me to the beach, or teaching me how to play sports. When I first learned of her death I was devastated. I thought that there was no point and I was so mad at God for taking her away from not just me, but all of my young cousins and new family members to come. They would have never met her, which just made me more sad. They would never know what a "nana story" was, or ever truly understand her one of a kind personality. It crushed me to know that they would not know and it killed me that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Analysis Of The Voyage Of The Frog The Voyage Of The Frog By Donaven wells by: Gary paulsen The Voyage of the Frog starts off when the main character's uncle gets cancer. He was always a sailor then the main character named david had learned all about sailing from him so before he died he told david his last wish was for him to take the frog, his boat, to sea until he couldn't see land anymore and throw his ashes into the water. So he did what his uncle wanted him to do but on the way there things get a little rough. On the way there he runs into a whole ton of problems the first one he encountered is a giant storm out of nowhere, the second one is running out of food and water, the third one is exhaustion and need of medical attention. The genre of the book is fiction. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... David is slowly getting more exhausted although he does get sleep he always has to be ready for anything so he doesn't sleep well which means he can't put in his all. Also every day his medical conditions are getting worse and he will probably need medical care when he gets back. Although he still keeps going because he has to take care of his head and shoulder while also avoiding getting injured again from mussels being pulled so he can still do his daily task, be able to still operate the boat and do any necessary repairs needed without enduring pain to himself. In conclusion throughout all the struggles he had dealing with the frog when he did get found he wouldn't leave it so the people that found him gave him all the supplies he would need and he then started the journey back to his home without a worry because him and the frog were no longer two things they were one and acted as one.David no longer looked at this journey as a bad thing but a good time and a bonding experience with the frog and the sea the ocean a beautiful thing but it is also one of the most dangerous things. So in conclusion I really liked this book. The theme of the book is although times can be difficult you have to continue and push forward and patience will have good results. The mood of the book is exciting it kept me wanting to read more. The tone of the book is serious because when I read it it seemed so real and like I was there with david. The irony

  • 8. A Story About The Trials Of My First Year Of Wrestling Freshman Wrestling (A story about the trials of my first year of wrestling) The football season had just ended in Orem Utah and my coach was an assistant wrestling coach. People had been telling me things about wrestling the whole football season to the point where I actually considered it. I went to open mats one day and decided that I was going to wrestle. There were two other first year freshmen in my weight class and I beat both of them. In my first year of wrestling I was already varsity. The whole year I got pounded on over and over again by kids who had been wrestling for years. I kind of just accepted the fact that I was going to lose most of my matches. Our very last dual of the season was against Orem High School who were our mortal enemies. The dual started off at the 120 pound weight class. Me being in the 113 pound weight class meant I would be the last one to wrestle. The dual was incredibly close and by the time I was up Orem was winning the dual by one point. My coach told me to go out there and keep it simple. I went out, took him down, and pinned him in just fourteen seconds. The crowd exploded. Everybody started chanting my name. The captains picked me up and put me on their shoulders as they carried me around the gym. This event was important to my life because it gave me confidence that I needed, it kept me wrestling because I was on the verge of quitting, and it was a moment that I'll never forget my entire life. Confidence is something huge for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Social Expectations Of Love Love is not a concept easily defined to its fullest capacity. It has been personified, resented, and over exaggerated throughout the history of drama and has left readers on the edge of their seats as plots unfold. With love, there are no set guidelines or feelings that can go along with a person's actions, but there are societal expectations that cause a couple a great deal of misery if their love does not fit within them. Renaissance dramas often broke through these expectations to challenge the way people viewed and thought about love. Love is portrayed as a means for freedom, a lustful exchange, and a reward for not following social expectations in the plays The Duchess of Malfi, 'Tis a Pity She's a Whore, and The Shoemaker's Holiday proving that it is an aloof social construct with a range of meanings. In the play The Duchess of Malfi, love is a means of keeping an acquired freedom. For the title character, the Duchess, she earned a peculiar freedom when her first husband died. She gained his political power and essentially her own freedom. In the beginning of the play, her brothers, the Cardinal and Ferdinand, threaten this freedom by all but forbidding her to remarry: "Marry? They are most luxurious/Will wed twice" (Webster, John. 1.1.299–300). • 10. I Stand Here Ironing, By Tillie Olsen And Everyday Use By... The two short stories, "I Stand Here Ironing" by Tillie Olsen and "Everyday Use" by Alice Walker shows two mothers being concerned about one of their daughter and question how their daughters have turned out to be. The authors show this by using multiple symbols to convey the families' relationship. By this, the authors use the iron, quilt, and clock all to connect how each symbol shows a significant meaning in the family. In "I Stand Here Ironing," Olsen conveys the symbolic meaning of an iron, which connects to Walker's symbolism for the quilt in "Everyday Use." Both these objects are ironically associated with a mother in general. Furthermore, in these short stories, Olsen represents the iron as a mother's ability to smooth out the wrinkles in her daughter's life. By this, the mother states, "I stand here ironing, and what you asked me moves tormented back and forth with the iron". In other words, she throws all her painful emotions and guilty of not being a mother to her daughter Emily into the iron. In addition, the iron tries to destroy these emotions that are a representation as "wrinkles". Also, as the narrator is ironing back and forth, the action is used as a flashback as where she went wrong in raising Emily. Similarly, Walker shows how ironically a quilt is like a mother, in where both share a legacy and are also used for comfort. In this short story, a mother tries to reconnect with her daughter through their heritage, but later realizes that she cannot give ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I was 5 years old getting ready for church and my dad went out and light a burn pile before we left. It was one of the biggest mistakes he ever made and it turned out to be the last mistake. Instead of watching the pile like he should have he left it unattended and came inside the house to get me and my mom that's when everything went horribly wrong. A ember got out and light the grass on fire so we called the fire department to come put it out but by the time they got there we had put the fire out. It can be tough when a relationship ends, especially a long term one or something that was forced on you, or you didn't see it coming –––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––– . When you are in this situation, it is not a good idea to start pursing another relationship. This is a great opportunity to look after yourself, review the relationship to understand what went wrong, and to discover your part in the relationship breakdown. Many people will tell you to get back out there and start dating again. This can sometimes work, however, when you are still reeling from a break up, it is difficult to be fully emotionally available to be with another person. How do you know when you are ready to be in a relationship again? Here are some thoughts that may help you to decide: * If you are still angry and hurting over the break up, then you have some unresolved issues you need to deal with. It is not healthy to blame your ex for all the problems, you also had a part to play. Can you see where you may have added to the situation? It was the Midnight Theft. The destructive plague stole during midnight it stole lives. Deep in the heart of Tukenasville, people were dying, and the country was beginning to perish. The flowers withered as they bloomed. Animals fled to holes to live out the last moments of their life. People were distraught, and chaos was invading every planet in the macrocosm. • 14. Experiences Of My Experience I want to share some of my experiences that my Dad and I have shared together. He has taught me that I can overcome anything that comes my way. He has helped me to become truthful. These experiences have shown me that lying gets you nowhere in life. Also has helped me to be on time and arrive at least 20 or 30 minutes early. One of the other ones were that hard work pays off in the end because without hard work we would not be as happy as we are now. One of the experiences was my Dad and me riding our dirt bikes together .The trail my dad took me on that was probably the scariest was at Kelly Canyon. I was 9 years old and had only been on a dirt bike a handful of times. I didn't know how to ride very well. It was super hard for me to get up the hills but on this particular ride coming down was even worse.. It had started to hail and rain really hard. The trail became really slick and muddy. There was a huge cliff to my left and swear I thought I was going to die. I wrecked so many times. Going over my handlebars once and laying my bike down several times. I thought we would never get off that hill. In crazy times likes this it is best to just take a deep breath and know you have what it takes to do it. As a result of that ride I learned to trust myself. The second experience was when I lied to my Dad. I think age nine seemed to be my most troubled year. Realizing that your life is moving so fast brings chills that go beyond the years you have already lived. Hanging out with my youth group gets rid of those thoughts entirely. All my life, I was under the impression that new is always better. My parents constantly encourage me to try activities and events that I would have never considered without their persistent nagging. Attending a church service with my youth group was one of those things. At first I was nervous and afraid, praying that I wouldn't make a bad impression on them. To my surprise, every single one of them personally welcomed me with open arms. This was the first time I truly felt that I had made the right decision. As a whole, my youth group consists of 20 members, with ages varying from 16 to 25. Being introduced into a community with such contrasting ages concerned me right from the start. In my mind, I was saying "Man, why am I even hanging out with these guys? We have nothing in common, and they all look way older than me." Yes, I may have been a bit judgemental early on, but luckily I never expressed myself out loud because that initial assumption was way off the mark. They turned out to be the most purest, kind–hearted people I have ever met. One of the greatest experiences in my life involves a muddy face, a banana cream pie, and a can of whipped cream. This pile has been easy to pick out what belong there, yet is confusing with how it fits into the entire puzzle. Part of my live view is seeing the world through Christ. Faith is what keeps me grounded in my decisions and helps me focus on how I want to live. I never planned on moving with them but my mother basically forced me into moving with them. It wasn't really all that moving stuff because the new house was actually pretty nice, it was just I had all my friends there and I was doing well in school. Nothing I said convinced my mother so after a week of packing we was off to Florida. The first week being there was a horrible week. Nothing was going right for me, I missed the school bus for a whole week, dropped my milk on my new shoes, and tripped over nothing in lunch. It was just trying to move back but parents always have this life lesson speech about trying to make new friends and try to get used to being here until we move again. It's been about a month since we moved to Florida and I met about zero friends but I got used to living here since I've found something that interested me as an after school hobby and that was fishing. There's barley any lakes or ponds in New Jersey so fishing wasn't really something you do as a time waster. I usually fished right after I got home but on that day it was rainy and it wasn't really a good time to fish so I just decided to practice my free shots until it started raining hard. • 21. The Characteristics Of Overcoming Adversity In The Glass... During times of difficulty, people are forced to survive and prevail by using specific traits that help them do this. For example in the memoir The Glass Castle, Jeannette Walls grows up in an environment that forces her to use certain traits to help her overcome adversity in her childhood. For example, her ability to distract herself from negative situations, her acceptance during tough times, and her constant trust that her parents will only do the best for her, are a few examples of these traits. As the story progresses, Jeanette continually and constantly uses these traits. An example of one of these traits can be shown by her ability to distract herself from negative situations. Jeanette is constantly put in troublesome situation created by either parents, her environment, or even herself. Her ability to focus on everything but the negatives is something that allows her to overcome adversity much easier. This example can be shown when she was moving for the first time, and her dad stated "anyone who didn't like to travel wasn't invited on our adventure" (Walls 18). Jeanette then "burst into tears" (Walls, 18). Her losing her cat can be seen as a very gloomy situation for Jeanette, so she must overcome it by using her ability to distract herself. The idea came from her mom, since Jeanette said she "got us singing songs like 'Don't Fence Me In' and 'This land is your land'" (Walls, 18). As can be seen, Jeanette's ability to sing away her feeling of unhappiness when she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

He showed with lots of determination, you can prove that you're strong enough to survive anything. If in my life I was placed into a situation where I was given a dire cancer prognosis, I would most likely have a hard time accepting it at first. But then, I will remember that life is like an ocean of sand. It will always slip through your fingers and always slip away from you. There will, however, be a small part that stays in the palm of your hand and to always be thankful for that. I would surround myself with family and friends and begin a new lifestyle sounded by those I love and cherish. Then I would begin to conduct research on what to do to make my stay here on this earth as long as I possibly could. I will always have to remind myself that whenever you find yourself doubting how far you can go, you just have to remember how far you've already come. Brian gave us a glimpse into his training life by providing us his weekly schedule for preparing for the Ironman. This helped me visualize all the effort Brian did to come to this point in his life. After qualifying for the Ironman and only two weeks of training, Brian was ready to prove all the doubters in his life wrong and show them that he made the journey from dying as a "skeleton boy" to truly living the dream as a winner against the odds. Brian victoriously finished the Ironman in 14 hours and 42 ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. My Personal Experience Personal experience One of my personal experiences that I had was when my family decided to move from New Jersey to Florida. I think I was outside for about 20minutes and suddenly a couple kids from my new school asked if they can shoot the ball with me. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 32. A Few Miles South Of Soledad, The Salinas River A few miles south of Soledad, the Salinas River drops in close to the hillside bank and runs deep and green. The water is warm too, for it has slipped twinkling over the yellow sands in the sunlight before reaching the narrow pool. On one side of the river the golden foothill slopes curve up to the strong and rocky Gabilan Mountains, but on the valley side the water is lined with trees– willows fresh and green with every spring, carrying in their lower leaf junctures the debris of the winter 's flooding; and sycamores with mottled, white, recumbent limbs and branches that arch over the pool. On the sandy bank under the trees the leaves lie deep and so crisp that a lizard makes a great skittering if he runs among them. Rabbits come out of the brush to sit on the sand in the evening, and the damp flats are covered with the night tracks of 'coons, and with the spread pads of dogs from the ranches, and with the split–wedge tracks of deer that come to drink in the dark. There is a path through the willows and among the sycamores, a path beaten hard by boys coming down from the ranches to swim in the deep pool, and beaten hard by tramps who come wearily down from the highway in the evening to jungle–up near water. In front of the low horizontal limb of a giant sycamore there is an ash pile made by many fires; the limb is worn smooth by men who have sat on it. Evening of a hot day started the little wind to moving among the leaves. The shade climbed up the hills toward the top. On ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 33. Describe My Grandmother My grandpa was a person everyone around him loved. He was kind, supportive, and hard–working. I always loved seeing him every time I went to Orange County, California. But now, I'm not able to see him in real life anymore... It makes me glad that he's alive and well in heaven but it makes me sad that I can't see him anymore. My grandpa was the only grandpa I knew I could rely on. The other grandpa I knew and was related to unfortunately passed away before I was even born. He always liked getting big and humble hugs from his grandchildren and he likes to grasp my hand softly so he can know that I'm here for him. But one day, he just suddenly stopped doing that and never got to hug or grasp anyone's hands ever again.. It was just one peaceful morning in a hospital, a lot of my relatives circled around grandpa's hospital bed. Everyone was anxious and hoping that grandpa was okay. Some were already starting to burst into tears, others, were already starting to have tears fall down slowly and patiently from their eyes down to their faces. Just looking at him made us all sad because he looked sort of miserable to be honest. All of my relatives just had to urge to grasp and hold his hand firmly so bad and wanted to let him know he's okay. But, at least there was one good memory that always remained in my head until now. I remember when I was little and I was visiting grandpa in the hospital, I fed him a spoonful of peas from the smooth, firm bowl that I had already grasped in my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Personal Narrative Essay : A Walk In The Forests On a shivering night, Ramon and I went for a walk in the woods. The Old House Woods in Virginia to be exact. While walking halfway in the woods, Ramon wanted to walk directly where all the trees are. " Hmm...I don't want to go. It is cold and I feel like someone is watching us from a distance. We should go back." I cried. " No, I wanna explore the forest we always walk on the trail let's try something new, "Ramon said with excitement. " Ugh, fine just this once, but let's not take long. I hear crackling sounds like if something is burning. It sounds is coming closer to us it's scary." I whispered with fear in my eyes. " Don't worry about it; I'm here with you. Nothing bad is going to happen, I bet it's just your imagination. Now, shall we continue our walk?" Ramon asked. " I hope it is my imagination," I said to myself. "Yeah, let's continue our walk. INTO THE WOODS!" I shouted aloud. I was terrified, so I stuck close to Ramon. About 30 minutes have passed, and we are still walking. " Ramon? I think we should go back my legs are tired." I stated. " Hold on I still wanna explore these woods. It's interesting to see that there are a lot of circles made out of sticks on the ground. If you want to, you can head back by yourself. I will catch up to you right now lemme just take some pictures of the circles."Ramon sounded annoyed. I replied"Awww, ok fine I will. Make sure that you come look for me, OK?" I started to jog the other side of Ramon. Another 30 minutes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was just 2 16 year old boys, and they had a science project. They were both hoping to get a major in science, and were taking an extra class after school. The project was to make a certain chemical out of other chemicals, and they had done it perfect, but I messed it up. I went up to see what they were doing after they had left to get a snack, and bumped one of the glasses, starting a domino effect, and 3 bottles fell into the mixture. It started smoking and bubbling, and the table shaked. I screamed for help, not knowing what else to do. They both ran in and got me out of the way, leaving them in the way right when it erupted. Pink blobs of liquid flew across the room, and they were trapped in smoke. I don't know what happened in the smoke, but they started screaming, and when they emerged they had grown lots of hair, and seemed a bit squirmish. I ran out of the house and hide in a bus, shortly before they both ran out quickly and were never seen again until recently on the news when someone saw a wolf with a lab coat on. Ever since that day I have felt bad for what I had done, and I still feel guilty." Aries explained. "Why didn't you tell me? We shouldn't be here! • 36. Why I Am A Cna Essay I am a CNA, I am the person who helps your loved ones, children and maybe even yourself with everyday aspects. I am the person who helps your grandmother get ready in the morning or helps your uncle eat his lunch. I am slapped, bit and yelled at more times than not. I change diapers and clean up vomit daily. I wake up early and stay up late to help you when you whenever you need me. With all of this hard and tiring work comes the rewarding parts. I get to play card games like Go Fish and learn new ones from the residents like Bridge. I sit and talk with residents and hear their stories from when they are young. I get to soothe your premature baby and sit with her as she heals and grows until she goes home. I play board games and color with children who are suffering from chronic illness and cancer. I hold your mothers hand as I tell her it's okay to go and that she is so loved. I am a CNA, and though I may not be for long I put my entire heart and soul into it and love every second. I have long desired for the chance to work in a medical setting and working in an assisted living home has made me realize that the job comes with so much more than the job description entails. When you take the CNA certification course, it does not even come close to preparing you for what your clinicals will entail. • 37. A Short Story : The Headless Horseman What a horrid turn of events, that I have brought myself to. I'd thought I would never see such a tragedy coming to my prosperous life. Though it seems the agony I would deal with, almost devours me as insanity would try to devour me whole, making me a maniac to all that find me. The numerous searches in the cold starry night get very tedious and demotivational, however each I go out into the night, a spark of revenge burns in my heart. The reason why is because I may find the one that was responsible for my head become missing. Yes, that is right, my own head! And now many venture into the dark and petrifying forest, where even men would start sweating at the thought and their knees begin to give out, but alas for some odd reason some venture on into the pitch black forest. Though I am given many names, but the one I have heard many people screaming was "The Headless Horseman". I, "The Headless Horseman" was a young, tall, and muscular man. I would always help the people of Tarry Town, especially maiden that were not married, for that I may find the perfect wife. I would put other men around my size to shame. For others would try to win the many hearts of fair ladies and maidens. I would play with many children and play pranks along with them. Life was absolutely amazing for a lad such as myself. One day I was called to battle and little did I know, everything would know about myself, would soon change for the worse. I still remember that battle like it was yesterday. It ... • 38. My Life Changing Event A life–changing event is not something to be taken lightly. Throughout our lives, we encounter many obstacles and changes, some of which bring us joy and excitement, others of which may be hard for us to handle. When I look back on my relatively short life, it may, at first, be hard for me to think of an event that has truly molded and shaped the person that I am today. I have encountered several changes, but at the time, they felt like mere speed bumps along my path. Looking back now, it is easy for me to see that these changes were not by chance, but were placed in my path to form the person that I am today. When I think about an event that sticks out in my mind as one that was very important in my life, I think about changing schools in the seventh grade. About halfway through my middle school career, I became very unhappy at my school and with life in general. Upon discussing with my parents, we made the decision that I would switch schools and embark on a new journey in hopes to appease my unhappy soul. At first, I felt as if a new school would not help; little did I know what a profound change it would have on my life. Upon first glance, my new school did not seem like much of a fit for me. Everyone seemed to like it, but I was having trouble fitting into the daily grind of a school that required much more effort and attention than I was ever used to. I did my best to keep up with everyone else, but this was hard for me, seeing as I was used to being one of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 40. What Is The Theme Of Summer Love In Birnam Woods The short story, "Birnam Woods," by T.C. Boyle, revolves around a dysfunctional couple's journey to survive in a harsh winter. While Keith struggles to earn a living as a substitute teacher, Nora has a degree but does not care to find a job. Together they live in a shack without electricity, so they try to find a new home. They become house sitters for a rich old couple. Later Nora proceeds to find a job as a hostess at a restaurant. As Steve approaches Nora with a poem and Tequila, Nora doesn't resist his charm. Dejected, Keith then leaves the house and finds a couple in their bedroom, passionless like the winter. The scene makes Keith realize that when passion dies, so does the relationship. In the end, Keith discovers that he and Nora have been living the winter life, and Nora has moved on in search of another summer life. Therefore, Boyle tells the reader to enjoy the young, summer love while it lasts, before winter comes. Relationships does not last forever; the love between the two lovers can also be broken up by physical and mental events. Also, love very often represents youth, because Ma 2 people chase love as a way of recapturing the dream of when they were young. As a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
