2. BASIC INFORMATION ON BTEC ICT
The 360 guided learning hours (GLH) (usually six units) provides a
qualification which is equivalent to one A level.
The BTEC qualifications in this specification are undertaken in further
education, by sixth-form colleges, schools and other training
providers, since they were introduced in 1984. Their purpose,
approaches to teaching, learning and assessment are established
and understood by teachers, employers and learners.

10. TRANSLATABLE SKILLS GAINED
Presentation skills – In this course you will learn to develop skills in
both creating and presenting presentations. This may be useful later
in life if you need to give any presentations in the future.
Time keeping – This course focuses very heavily on time
management (completing tasks by deadlines) this will be good
practice in case your future employer sets you any deadlines.
Organisational Skills – This course will also help to develop your
organisational skills (physical folders + documents).
Problem solving – There will at some point be a problem you face on
this course that you need to overcome.

11. How do potential employers view
BTEC ICT?
It is a common misconception that BTEC’s are viewed in a lesser
light than A Levels by employers. Mainly because they are not exam
based and therefore may be seen as less demanding. However
BTEC’s offer a more practical experience and may be more
beneficial to specific work environments.
