     First Impressions
     Private Equity investor meeting
     checklists – a sample
     If you want to win investment, you prepare. Your story, your documents and your team all
     need work. After all, you only get one chance from a first LP meeting. To be certain that
     what you say, how you say it and how you interact in the meeting are all just right , why not
     use outside help? Here are some of the checklists we use when preparing our clients.

Front Page Test?                                                  Addressing GREED
Judgments made from looking at the front page                     -             Who else has invested?
                                                                  -             What other demonstrations of credibility are there?
 –      Does this look a credible business?
                                                                  -             What returns have they achieved?
–       Is it clear what this is going to be about?
                                                                  -             Why do I believe in their future investment
–       Do I understand how it could fit into my portfolio?
                                                                                performance?

 Second Page Test                                                 Addressing FEAR
 Judgments made from the next significant page.                       -        What are the investment risks?
 -      Is it easy to categorise?                                     -        How are other risks mitigated?
 -      How do I explain it to my colleagues?                         -        Are the managers properly dedicated to this
 -      Am I compelled to learn more?                                          business?
                                                                      -        Are managers’ interests aligned with the investors?
Flick Test                                                            -        Would it easily pass our initial due diligence?
                                                                      -        Can I easily justify my decision to invest?
 From a casual flick through the document?
