The CD program at Arrowhead High School uses an entrepreneurial model to facilitate transition skills for students. This model incorporates three student-run businesses:
1) Café Arrowhead, a student-run restaurant that teaches food service skills like cash handling, food preparation, and customer service. It has expanded to catering.
2) Arrowhead Manufacturing, which teaches woodworking, laser engraving, CNC machining, and mass production skills.
3) Arrowhead Athletics, which provides opportunities for students to participate on sports teams and develop self-esteem, teamwork, and self-advocacy skills.
The businesses teach vital independent living and vocational skills to maximize students'
2. The CD program at Arrowhead HS is a hybrid program, which incorporates traditional academics, technology, vocational skills, and transition skills into the student’s curriculum. This is through the development of 3 businesses within the CD program. As per the student’s IEP, they may also be integrated into a variety of regular education classes. An entrepreneurial model is used to tie together skills from all of these areas to maximize the academic, vocational, and independent abilities of the students, which are vital in the post high school setting.
7. Developed interpersonal relationships with staff, each other, and teachers / administration they wouldn’t normally have contact with (AP teachers, Superintendent etc.)
8. They are their own entity - The students / program are known as “CAFÉ” – NOT CD or Spec Ed.

80. Post Secondary placement – The basic skills learned in our business transfer to both types of employment. It makes placements much easier because the students have skills that transcend the traditional special ed world.
