Reaction Force: To dominate the area by:
(Community Policing Sections)
Visible presence and patrolling to discourage
criminal activities
Use of Research and Investigation products
to determine crime and other “hot spots”
Physical monitoring of confirmed “hot spots”
and suspects
Quick reaction to call-outs from communities
Protecting assets and personnel when
necessary
Assistance to and co-operation with the SAPS
Conducting area and sector crime combating
operations to apprehend perpetrators

Dog Centre:
To train and provide handlers and
dogs for scent tracking from crime
scenes
To train and provide handlers and
dogs for narcotics detection
To train and provide handlers and
dogs for patrolling and crowd
management
Assistance to and co-operation with
the SAPS to detect/investigate/arrest
persons using/peddling drugs in the
Bafokeng area

Community Safety Liaison Officer:
To create crime prevention awareness amongst
communities
To mobilise communities against crime
To act as liaison between the Department and
Dikgosana and Makgotla
7. Specialist Sections
Rapid Reaction Section
Prepare targets in order for other sections to carry out follow-ups,
arrests and inspections
Track down most wanted suspects
Manage crowds where required
Assist with VIP protection when required
Narcotics and Organised Crime
Initiate and manage investigations of special importance and
sensitivity i.e narcotics, organised crime, gangsterism at schools,
corruption, etc
Combating of drugs
Drug awareness campaigns at schools incl searches for drugs and
weapons

Criminal Investigations:
To ensure minimum risk and losses by bringing perpetrators to book
Creating an integrated preventative crime information system to act
as early warning on criminal activities
Conducting successful criminal investigations to prosecute
perpetrators
Close Protection Team:
To ensure the safety of Kgosi and other designated
members by:
Providing visible and non visible research driven static and mobile
protection to Kgosi and VIP visitors in and out of office or residence
Providing a visible deterrent with regard to the King’s safety

Air Wing:
To monitor and control the use of land by local
inhabitants, other parties as well as
mining/industrial companies operating on
Bafokeng Land by:
Providing visual and electronic air
surveillance
Low level air photography
Interdiction by assisting law enforcement
agencies
Air to ground co-operation in order to
combat crime or track down suspects or
missing life stock
Maintain Control Room and communications

Hunting Team:
Formed by members of all sections as and when required to detect and
arrest suspects wanted by the Dept, the SAPS or the Dept of
Correctional Services. Commanded by the Senior Investigator.
Schools Response Team:
To protect assets at schools, to prevent and minimise loss by:
Monitoring schools at night
Reacting to alarms
Establishing observation posts for collection of info or quick reaction
Establishing good working relations with Principals and SGBs
Educating Principals and SGBs re protection at schools where
necessary
Assisting Narcotics Section upon request
Student Loans: No specific data was captured, Reason: the current team which took over in the middle of 2010 was not involved in the management of the loans and the previous team never recorded this kind of information. Student Loans has put systems and procedures in place and is now geared to collect the specifics. As from 2011 the current team will be able to report on any & all aspects
