2. What Is Drama?
A drama is a genre which relates to real life events that may occur around
audiences and that they can relate too. There are a lot of dramatic themes
for example abuse, poverty, drugs and many more. Drama is one of the
most popular movie genre since it consists a lot of sub genres for example
crime, romance drams etc.
A drama normally starts off when the character is in conflict at a time in
their lives this may include conflict between families etc. drama usually
helps gain empathy for the character normally and could be very touching
for the audience since they may be to relate to it or know how they’ll be
able to feel if they were to be in the characters shoes/position.
3. History Of Drama
The history of drama was introduced by the Greeks thousands of years
ago, Greeks were one of the first to create drama in theatres, this is where
drama normally started. No one knows when people actually started to
begin acting out plays and since we don’t know how it all started most
people know that Greek people started it by embracing theatres to worship
their gods. In the picture below the two famous masks of drama represent
the division between comedy and tragedy. These symbols of the ancient
Greek muses, Thalia and Melpomene. Thalia was the Muse of comedy,
while Melpomene was the Muse of tragedy.
4. The Subgenres Of A Drama
Comedy Drama - this is a drama of serious content and humour
Melodrama - increase emotions of the audience
Historical Drama - this focuses on dramatic events on history
Tragedy Drama - when a character in in conflict at a time of their life
Legal Drama - this involves criminals and legal system
Docudrama - this uses real people to describe real life events
6. Why We Chose Drama And What Inspired
Us
As a group we decided to choose drama because we wanted to engage
our audience as much as possible. We felt as if this will be a good change
and something unique because drama is supposed to be very entertaining
and it could be very challenging because we would have to relate it to a
real life event which the audience would feel sympathy for. But with our
editors skill I'm sure we will be able to make our film very entertaining and
realistic for the audience
