Denver rhetor plan
1. For my event; I went to watch black light theatre. Black Light theatre is a theatrical performance style characterized by the use of black box theatre augmented by black light illusion. Throughout the performance the dancers created a number of striking images. I would argue that the exigence of the piece was a desire to inform the audience of the criminal world that exists so close to the world in which we live. The depicted image, in my opinion was the most striking. It was a reminder of the issues that divide us, the issues that lure us into the dangerous and dark criminal world. It was a subtly sent message. The audience at the theatre was composed mainly of middle aged men and women who probably consider themselves to be knowledgeable in the field of the arts, an audience who came ready to interpret. I believe that the image was designed to encourage the audience to improve the world around them because until they do that they will remain divided and the issues that plague our communities will remain unsolved. By appealing to the audience on an individual level I believe the performance compelled them to make change on a larger scale. This image was the most memorable and the most compelling. I think it was the most striking image that would generate most conversation and prompt the most activism and the most change. By adding words to the picture I hoped to make the subtle message more explicit, to highlight what the particular dangers we face are and prompt thought as to what strategies can be used to fight them. I would like to re draw this image on canvas on a much larger scale in order to capture the grandeur of the moment. I think that the painting could be a useful rhetorical tool as it captures the moment but the words serve as the rhetorical analysis and a description of the message that the dancing and the performance tried to send.
