3. About Columbia Pictures
• The studio was first founded in 1919 as Cohn-Brandt-
Cohn. Their first films were very low budget but then
they changed their name to Columbia pictures are buying
Brandt out of the business. They then became public two
years later. The company then began to go from the
1920’s. In 1982 Coca-cola purchased the studio. In the
same year they launched TriStar Pictures and then five
years later they merged both of the companies to then
become Columbia Pictures Entertainment. Finally in 1989
Sony brought the combined studios and it has continued
to be owned by them.

5. Columbia films
The films that Columbia produce are of all different
genre’s (as you can see from the slide before). They
appeal to all different target audiences so they have
a broad range of audiences and viewers. They try to
produce a different genre of film each time one is
released so they don’t have the same genre of film
released after one another. They combine different
genre’s with each other as lots of their films are a
combination to keep them up to date and appealing
to their audiences.
