  1. Note: This figure refers to those who have disclosed the reason for their sick leave. The likelihood is there are many more cases of mental health-related absence being misreported, due to the stigma still associated with mental health. For example, a person experiencing severe anxiety calls in sick to work with a stomach bug because they do not feel able to disclose their mental health issue to their line manager.
