11. From the colour and lips you can easily tell
what sexuality the audience mainly is. Women
prefer to choose the colour pink as it‟s a very
innocent and virginal colour. This appeals to
the bands target audience which is mainly
teenage girls or young women in their early
20‟s. As a teenage girl.. For the first time, they
have sexual feelings/thoughts of the opposite
sex and fan-girling is a way of expressing their
feelings. This would attract a lot of females as
the colours are bright and not boring.
The album name „Word of Mouth‟ goes well
with the cover as there is a image of attractive
lips biting into a chain with the bands name.
The lips are wide open showing their teeth
which without making any sounds, the words
are said.
12. This cover was The Wanted first official album. There's is an image of 5
hot young men posing with serious facial expressions. The facial
expressions portray them to be quite a tease and look quite seductive. I
think this definitely gives away the target audience which would be
mostly for females than males as the mid/full body photo allows that
male gaze appeal to be into play. This instantly draws the females eyes
to their body and faces which would mean the focus is moved away
from the album.
As it is their first album, from
the mid to full body shot it gives
the audience a view of what the
artists wear and allows them to
be idolized. If someone wanted
to dress like the boys, the
mid/full shot allows the
audience to get a feel how to
dress like them.
13. All the band members are looking directly at the owner of the album which
can be used to target young female audiences as not only are the band
members young males but with their use of eye contact and facial
expressions in the image creates personal contact with the band.
The contrasting colours
start with bright hot
colours to cold dull
colours which draws
attention to the cover as
its appealing to the
audience visually.
The colours reflect the
songs on the album as
the love songs start of
”hot” and finish more
“cold”. This is what
most young females
experience (being
heartbroken)
The members
dressed in a
certain dress
code shows that
the album cover
does not distract
the audience
visually, which
ensures that all
attention is
focused on the
faces of the band
members and the
title of the
album.
