This resume is for Ashwin Kumar Yegya Raman, a doctoral candidate in chemical engineering at Oklahoma State University pursuing research in interfacial phenomena. His research focuses on characterizing Pickering emulsions and hydrates using various techniques to examine solid-stabilized emulsions and formulate strategies for demulsification. He has published papers on the rheological behavior of hydrate-forming emulsions and the stability of surfactant and solid-stabilized emulsions after hydrate formation. He has also presented his research at several conferences and received awards including the Distinguished Graduate Fellowship from OSU.

Doctoral Thesis: Dynamic Interfacial Behavior of Solids at the Oil-Water Interface with Applications to Oil-Water
Separation and Flow Assurance

• Characterization of Pickering emulsions and hydrates using rheological, visualization, DSC, IFT, and NMR techniques
• Formulate instantaneous demulsification strategies for simple and multiple emulsions
• Investigate the impact of electrolytes and pressure on solid stabilized emulsions
• Probing the transient stability of emulsions using PFG-NMR technique with applications to flow assurance
• Quantify the effect of solid particles, electrolytes and water on hydrate and wax formation in crude oils
• Formulate an empirical model to predict the relative viscosity and pressure drop of hydrate forming water-in-oil
emulsions in the presence of both surfactants and solid particles in laminar and turbulent regime
• Examine suitable inhibitor for both wax and hydrate formation
Bachelor’s Project: Plant design for production of 1 ton of Dimethyl Aniline (DMA)
