Dust Control
One of the most common uses of Calcium Chloride and
Magnesium Chloride is to control dusts in dirt roads.
Both of these compositions are able to absorb humidity.
Calcium chloride is able to absorb humidity up to 17 times of
its weight in relative humidity of 95%. This is the basis of these
two compositions' work of controlling dusts in dirt roads.
The scientific name of this composition is DC400 which stands
for Dust Control. The number 400 in the name refers to the
density of calcium chloride.
Environmental Advantages of Using Calcium Chloride and
Magnesium Chloride Fluid for Controlling Dusts
In the following table, calcium chloride and magnesium
chloride (the original composition of the fluid) are analyzed
based on environmental factors.
Something that should be noted regarding the environmental
advantages of this fluid is that it is obtained from evaporation
of brines. Thus, it is 100% natural and its composition is
harmless for the environment.

As it is evident in the table, Calcium Chloride and
Magnesium Chloride are harmless for environment.
They may be flowed when it rains. In that case, it has
no effects on the plants and Calcium Chloride may
serve as fertilizer.
Currently, oil mulch (made of oil wastes) is used to
control dusts. It may be harmful for farms. Some
chemical materials used in its composition are also
harmful for environment.
Dusts, in addition to causing increase in some
respiratory disease, cause damages to agricultural
products. Sandstorms cause schools, airports, offices,
etc. to be closed and, thus, make economical loss.
This liquid is composed of Calcium Chloride and
Magnesium Chloride which is considered
environmentally friendly comparing to other materials
used for dealing with dusts.
Using this fluid is effective in preventing dusts in
decreasing PM10 and PM2.5.
