This document contains two self-assessment exercises to evaluate planning and goal setting skills. The first part contains 8 questions to assess planning abilities, with the author suggesting the ideal planner would answer "yes" to questions 2, 4-7 and "no" to question 8. The second part contains 6 questions to evaluate goal setting on a scale of 1 to 5. The author notes that questions 1, 2, 4-6 focus on being proactive versus reactive in planning and allocating resources, and that goals should be realistic as scored in question 6. Areas scored 3 or lower should be improved.

Our intent is to get you thinking about goal setting as it relates to your life and work. <br />In the first part of the assessment, we focus on whether your personal Goal Setting is passive or active. Question 1 query your general tendency around “action” and question 4 & 5 select specific examples of pro-action versus reaction. Allocating “resources” for the completion of goals is queried in questions 2 & 3. Question 6 focuses on a cornerstone of effective goal setting: creating goals that are attainable yet challenging.
