                                     Earth and Space Science – Online Course
            Course description
                      This Earth and Space Sciencecourse is intended to be implemented in a seventh or eighth grade
            virtual classroom. The course will satisfy all 8th grade Earth and Space Academic Standardsas well as
            enrich the students with the benefits of utilizing technology in a meaningful way to complete research,
            planning, collaboration, and presentation.
                      The student will be engaged in many activities for the benefit of content learning and presentation,
            including group discussions, reflective journals, individual web quests, small group presentations, and large
            group projects. Through these activities, the students will experience various technological capabilities and
            their applications.

            Course Objectives
                   The students will describe how Earth and the Moon work as a system (characteristics, mass,
                   gravity, rotation, revolution, etc.) through a web quest product.
                   The students will present a detailed model of the solar system as a whole group (characteristics,
                   mass, gravity, rotation, revolution, etc.) through a collaborative presentation.
                   The students will explain the cycles found within the Earth and Moon system, as well as the solar
                   system and their effects on our lives through an online exam (essay format)

            Assessments
            Reflective Journal
                     Each student will type one reflective journal entry per week via an online blog sharing thoughts
                     and insights of the online experience as it pertains to the course.
                     Each student will be expected to read other students’ entries, and post feedback threads as ongoing
                     discussions and sharing.
            Web Quest Activity
                     Each student chooses 1 item in the Solar System Project
                     Research the item using provided resources found in the structured web quest activity
                     Present the completed webquest via Dropbox©
            Whole Group Cyber Project
                     Each student sets up a Prezi account and complete a Prezi training module
                     Each student imbeds their chosen Solar System item into the whole group Prezi file in a
                     meaningful and interactive way.
                     There will be 4 scheduled podcast meetings throughout the course for the collaborative planning
                     of the Prezi presentation.
            Individual Online Exam
                     Each student will complete an online exam (essay format) describing the cycles learned through
                     this course as they pertain to our lives on earth.
