Germany's Artistic and Architectural Influences
1.
2. Germany received influence from both Italy
and the Netherlands, with artists emigrating to
these countries and bringing back techniques
and ideas.
However, many Germans DID contributed
their own ideas, including the invention of the
printing press by Johannes Gutenberg in
1436-1439.
Albrecht Durer was a famous painter from
Germany, who was able to use both Italian
and Northern techniques I his
painting, creating his own, unique style.
3. German architecture was slightly different
from the rest of European Gothic
architecture. This style was known as Weser
architecture, and was famous for its rounded
towers. This art is described as having a
simple, cozy feel to it.
This type of architecture was drastically
different from the geometric, strait gothic
architecture and the cubic Romanesque
architecture.
4. Germany became an economic center point,
with the opening of Fugger bank, and made
up a blending of cultures, made up by the
different cultural influences from around
Germany, such as the Netherlands, Italy, and
France.
Also, Hanseatic league allowed for trade and
spread of cultural movements throughout
Northern Germany. (The League controlled
trade throughout the region, and had power
equal to a king).
