Penatalaksanaan hipertiroidisme meliputi hidrasi intravena, anti-piretik non-aspirin, obat anti-tiroid seperti propiltiourasil dan metimazole untuk menghambat sintesis hormon tiroid, iodida untuk mencegah pelepasan hormon yang disimpan, β-blocker untuk mengurangi gejala seperti takikardia, kortikosteroid intravena untuk menghambat pelepasan hormon, serta tindakan lanjut seperti dialisis dan

Penatalaksanaan
a. Dapat diberikan hidrasi IV secara agresif dan anti piretik non-aspirin.
b. Tioamide menghambat produksi hormon tiroid.
a) Propiltiourasil (PTU) merupakan obat pilihan mengahmbat sintesis hormon tiroid
dan konversi perifer T4 menjadi T3.
b) Metimazole menghambat sintesis hormon tetapi tidak konversi perifer.
c. Iodida menghambat pelepasan hormon tiroid yang disimpan jika diberikan 1 jam
setelah pemberian PTU (jikalau tidak ada iodida meningkatkan pelepasan hormon)
digunakan pada kasus yang berat.
d. β – blocker digunakan dalam terapi gejala klinis (misalnya takikardia, tremor);
propanolol lebih disukai karena obat ini juga menurunkan konversi T4 perifer
e. steroid IV (deksametason atau hidrokartison) menghambat pelepasan hormon dan
konversi perifer
f. Dialisis dan plasmaferesis merupakan tindakan akhir untuk pasoen yang tidak
memberi respons terhadap terapi diatas
g. Terapi ablasi iodium radioaktif atau operasi mungkin diperlukan untuk mendapatkan
kesembuhan definitif
