(IFNTUOG), established in 1967, is the market leader in providing high-
level technical and nontechnical training services to Ukraine’s energy

History of the University
1960  foundation of Stanislaw Technical Faculty.
1963  foundation of the Ivano-Frankivsk branch of Lviv Polytechnical Institute. At
that time Ivano-Frankivsk branch incorporated basic technical faculties and
the Faculty of Petroleum Industry.
1967  foundation of the Ivano-Frankivsk Institute of Oil and Gas.
1994  the Institute of Oil and Gas was granted the status of the State Technical
University of Oil and Gas of the IV (the highest) level of accreditation
2001  the University was granted the status of aNational University.

 Since its foundation the University has trained more than 47,000
professionals.
 Currently the university enrollment is 11, 000 students from Ukraine and
37 countries.
 IFNTUOG’s academic experience is firmly rooted in 10 institutes
comprising 54 departments and 3 colleges.

Postgraduate & In-Service Programs
Postgraduate degree and non-degree education is provided by the
Postgraduate and In-Service Training Institute (P&ISTI). It offers high
quality professional development and certification programs to meet the
ever-increasing demands of managerial staff and specialists of the oil and
gas industry and other branches of Ukrainian economy.
P&ISTI is an educational, materials developing, training, organizational and
research unit implementing the concept of multilevel higher engineering and
technical education and continuous professional training in all basic specialties
of the university.
Annually, about 350 students are enrolled in
degree programs, and 400-500 professionals
take courses designed to improve their skills
and qualifications in relevant fields.
Besides, P&ISTI includes the International
Drilling Simulation Centre providing
training and certification of drilling
specialists according to the International
Well Control Forum (IWCF) standards.
IWCF Certificates are internationally
recognized, and certified professionals can
perform drilling operations worldwide.

Energy security of Ukraine
The University initiates the development of different state-run programs and carries out
activities aimed at increasing country’s energy security. On June 26, 2014 there was held a
roundtable “On ensuring reliable and efficient gas supply to consumers in Ukraine and Europe in
terms of a reformation of the gas transport system“ at the National Academy of Sciences of
Ukraine. The roundtable was chaired by rector of IFNTUOG, corresponding member of NASU,
Prof. Yevstakhii Kryzhanivskyi. Prominent scholars, practitioners and experts took part in the
roundtable. The participants of the roundtable adopted a resolution which provides speedy
reorganization and reformation of the gas sector of Ukraine in accordance with the European
legislation on energy.

Research is an essential endeavor at IFNTUOG which is
supported by:
•17 research schools in science and engineering;
•29 R&D laboratories, including a petroleum engineering
laboratory;
•Research and Study Center “Energy effective technologies for
systems of oil and gas production, transportation and storage”;
•Scientific and Research Centers “Theoretical and Applied
Problems of Geology” and “Technological safety of equipment,
facilities and pipelines in oil and gas complex” cooperating with
the institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine;

The University participates in international programs funded by the European Union. Recently a
number of projects have been supported by TEMPUS, involving educational and scientific
institutions of Austria, Greece, Germany, Russian Federation, Sweden, UK, Poland, Azerbaijan
and Belarus. The University also takes part in cross-border projects in cooperation with partners
from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania.
University scientists participate in international conferences, scientific and educational symposia in
Russian Federation, Poland, Algeria, Germany, Slovakia,
Norway, Austria, Sweden, Belgium and Hungary.
The University regularly hosts international delegations
from related universities in order to improve academic

Every year students undergo scientific and practical traineeships in Poland, Germany,
Turkey, Romania, Austria, Norway, the Czech Republic, Greece, Macedonia, India and Canada.
Close cooperation with AGH University of Science and Technology (Krakow, Poland)
enables our scientists to participate in Fellowships Programs. Besides, IFNTUOG students can
receive Master’s degrees from this largest oil and gas University in Poland. In 2013 88 graduate
students of the University received Master’s diplomas in AGH.

In October 2014 Ivano-Frankivsk National
Technical University of Oil and Gas has
signed an agreement with the International
Foundation for Social Adaptation on university
involvement in the project "Ukraine-Norway" .
The project is aimed at removing the tension among the officers that appeared
due to mass layoff in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and assisting in social
adaptation of the officers and their family members to the civil life conditions.
The project is funded by the Norwegian
Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project
partner from Norway is University of
Nordland (City of Bodø).

Scientific and technicallibrary
The Library Service promotes the quality of learning, teaching, research and
training at the University. Annually it serves 30 thousand readers who are provided
with more than a million copies of learning materials.
Its fund contains 1.23 million copies, and electronic catalog includes over 224
thousand bibliographical descriptions of books, brochures and articles from
different periodicals.
The national library and informational system "UFD / Library" provides
automation of library operations. Moreover, the library network has several dozens
of computerized workplaces and is connected to the Internet.
The library’s collection comprises more than 3 000 copies of rare editions the
value of which can scarcely be exaggerated.

Publishing
The University holds its own
publishing house that meets printing
needs of the University. It publishes six
academic journals.
Annually, 110-150 issues of
teaching guides, practical guides, and
curricula with a total circulation of 5.5 –
6.1 thousand copies are published. 70%
of them are stored in the library fund.
40-45 issues of manuals, textbooks,
lecture books are published with a total
circulation of 2.0 thousand copies; 15-20
of them are recommended by the
Ministry of Education and Science of
Ukraine.

Geological Museum
Geological Museum founded in 1973 is one of the best in Europe due to the
variety of collections of minerals and rocks.
For more than 135 years over 15 thousand exhibits have been collected from all
over the world. Some items were purchased at exhibitions, during different
expeditions and from private sellers in Bonn, Paris, Prague, Vienna, New York,
Geneva, Philadelphia.
Its high status was confirmed by recognizing the Museum’s mineralogical
collection National Property Object that is part of entry files of the State Register
(Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine №1103-Р of December 15, 2007).

Innovation Exhibition Complex (IEC)
Innovation Exhibition Complex (IEC) having the area of ​​over 1,000 square meters was
built with the assistance of NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" and dedicated to the 40th
anniversary of the University. Its aim is to demonstrate the achievements of enterprises and
organizations of the petroleum industry of Ukraine as well as the pilot projects of the
university’s scientists.
This Complex helps to implement pilot projects and begin new ones by making contacts
with new business and academic partners from different regions of the country.

University History Museum
University History Museum, renewed in 2007, covers the area of ​​250 sq.m.This Museum
contains old and modern exhibits. The most valuable are those of scientific and educational
nature such as personal things of famous scientists in oil and gas industry, who worked at
the university.
A special place in the Museum is given to the history of oil and gas production, stages of
petroleum education development in Ukraine, originated in Galicia. It holds materials related
to the establishment of university, chronicles of schools and departments, photographs,
paintings, souvenirs and other gifts from around the world. The museum contains
approximately 1,500 exhibits. It is visited annually by 5 thousand students, faculty staff and
guests.

Leisure
Students Centre for Culture and Leisure (SCCL) was established in 1973. It is currently part
of the overall educational process of the University. The main objective of the Centre is to
develop spiritual life of students, promote Ukrainian and world culture and art, organize
substantial leisure and development of students’ artistic abilities.
SCCL carries out a wide range of activities, namely: «Freshmen inauguration»; gala
concerts on The University Day, Victory Day, international scientific conferences; theme
events dedicated to important national events, celebration of prominent dates in the history of
Ukraine; academies of classical music, entertainment shows; amateur contests, team
competition in "the Club of the Smart and Quick-Witted" and «What?Where?When?».
Shevchenko’ days celebrations and charitable events also take place.
Performances of the amateur art groups at festivals and contests in our region, in country
and abroad represent Precarpathian original culture, diversify the student life.

Facilities forActive Social Life
Students have the possibility to live in 7 dormitories. There is a developed system of
canteens, a sports complex and a stadium with total seating capacity of 10 thousand seats, a
swimming pool, playgrounds and sport sections, recreation camp “Naftovyk”, which is located
in the Yablunytsia pass in the Carpathian Mountains. There are many other facilities at
students’ disposal too.

The Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas (IFNTUOG), established in 1967, is the market leader in providing high- level technical and nontechnical training services to Ukraine’s energy sector – a major driver of Ukrainian economy.   • 7. History of the University 1960  foundation of Stanislaw Technical Faculty. 1963  foundation of the Ivano-Frankivsk branch of Lviv Polytechnical Institute. At that time Ivano-Frankivsk branch incorporated basic technical faculties and the Faculty of Petroleum Industry. 1967  foundation of the Ivano-Frankivsk Institute of Oil and Gas. 1994  the Institute of Oil and Gas was granted the status of the State Technical University of Oil and Gas of the IV (the highest) level of accreditation 2001  the University was granted the status of aNational University. General characteristics  Since its foundation the University has trained more than 47,000 professionals.  Currently the university enrollment is 11, 000 students from Ukraine and 37 countries.  IFNTUOG’s academic experience is firmly rooted in 10 institutes comprising 54 departments and 3 colleges.   • 21. Upgrading skills in oil and gas pipelines and storages Postgraduate & In-Service Programs Postgraduate degree and non-degree education is provided by the Postgraduate and In-Service Training Institute (P&ISTI). It offers high quality professional development and certification programs to meet the ever-increasing demands of managerial staff and specialists of the oil and gas industry and other branches of Ukrainian economy. P&ISTI is an educational, materials developing, training, organizational and research unit implementing the concept of multilevel higher engineering and technical education and continuous professional training in all basic specialties of the university. Annually, about 350 students are enrolled in degree programs, and 400-500 professionals take courses designed to improve their skills and qualifications in relevant fields. Besides, P&ISTI includes the International Drilling Simulation Centre providing training and certification of drilling specialists according to the International Well Control Forum (IWCF) standards. IWCF Certificates are internationally recognized, and certified professionals can perform drilling operations worldwide. 21
  • 22. Energy security of Ukraine The University initiates the development of different state-run programs and carries out activities aimed at increasing country’s energy security. On June 26, 2014 there was held a roundtable “On ensuring reliable and efficient gas supply to consumers in Ukraine and Europe in terms of a reformation of the gas transport system“ at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. The roundtable was chaired by rector of IFNTUOG, corresponding member of NASU, Prof. Yevstakhii Kryzhanivskyi. Prominent scholars, practitioners and experts took part in the roundtable. The participants of the roundtable adopted a resolution which provides speedy reorganization and reformation of the gas sector of Ukraine in accordance with the European legislation on energy. University Research Research is an essential endeavor at IFNTUOG which is supported by: •17 research schools in science and engineering; •29 R&D laboratories, including a petroleum engineering laboratory; •Research and Study Center “Energy effective technologies for systems of oil and gas production, transportation and storage”; •Scientific and Research Centers “Theoretical and Applied Problems of Geology” and “Technological safety of equipment, facilities and pipelines in oil and gas complex” cooperating with the institutions of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine; •Students’ Engineering Design Bureaus. University Research 715 faculty and staff members are involved in research work, among them: 73 – Doctors of Sciences, 355 – PhDs The university scientists have made 2 discoveries and received 9 prestigious State Prizes bestowed by the government in the field of science and technologies. 70% of research-technical products developed at the University are used both in business and education. IFNTUOG is the founder and publisher of 6 scientific and technical periodicals, such as: •“Prospecting and development of oil and gas fields”; •“Scientific Bulletin”; •"Methods and devices of quality control“; •"Oil and gas power engineering”; •“Economics and management in the oil and gas industry”; •“Environmental safety and sustainable resources management”. 25

University Research Research areas of IFNTUOG, that comply with the public policy 10 complex state-funded researches, carried out by 25 Departments, have been registered in the Ukrainian Institute for Scientific, Technical and Economic Information. The state-funded researches in the university are being carried out by 56 Departments and the Scientific and Technical Library of the University. 27

Collaboration with foreign scientific and educational institutions includes: Participation in international projects Participation in international conferences and exhibitions Support of students mobility to gain higher education in accordance with the Bologna Declaration Training of students and professor staff The University participates in international programs funded by the European Union. Recently a number of projects have been supported by TEMPUS, involving educational and scientific institutions of Austria, Greece, Germany, Russian Federation, Sweden, UK, Poland, Azerbaijan and Belarus. The University also takes part in cross-border projects in cooperation with partners from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Romania. University scientists participate in international conferences, scientific and educational symposia in Russian Federation, Poland, Algeria, Germany, Slovakia, Norway, Austria, Sweden, Belgium and Hungary. The University regularly hosts international delegations from related universities in order to improve academic quality. Rector Ye. Kryzhanivskyi grants Master’s Diploma of AGH University of Science and Technology due to the Agreement on mutual recognition of diplomas 30
  • 31. Every year students undergo scientific and practical traineeships in Poland, Germany, Turkey, Romania, Austria, Norway, the Czech Republic, Greece, Macedonia, India and Canada. Close cooperation with AGH University of Science and Technology (Krakow, Poland) enables our scientists to participate in Fellowships Programs. Besides, IFNTUOG students can receive Master’s degrees from this largest oil and gas University in Poland. In 2013 88 graduate students of the University received Master’s diplomas in AGH. In October 2014 Ivano-Frankivsk National Technical University of Oil and Gas has signed an agreement with the International Foundation for Social Adaptation on university involvement in the project "Ukraine-Norway" . The project is aimed at removing the tension among the officers that appeared due to mass layoff in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and assisting in social adaptation of the officers and their family members to the civil life conditions. The project is funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project partner from Norway is University of Nordland (City of Bodø). 41
  • 42. Scientific and technicallibrary The Library Service promotes the quality of learning, teaching, research and training at the University. Annually it serves 30 thousand readers who are provided with more than a million copies of learning materials. Its fund contains 1.23 million copies, and electronic catalog includes over 224 thousand bibliographical descriptions of books, brochures and articles from different periodicals. The national library and informational system "UFD / Library" provides automation of library operations. Moreover, the library network has several dozens of computerized workplaces and is connected to the Internet. The library’s collection comprises more than 3 000 copies of rare editions the value of which can scarcely be exaggerated. 42
  • 43. Publishing The University holds its own publishing house that meets printing needs of the University. It publishes six academic journals. Annually, 110-150 issues of teaching guides, practical guides, and curricula with a total circulation of 5.5 – 6.1 thousand copies are published. 70% of them are stored in the library fund. 40-45 issues of manuals, textbooks, lecture books are published with a total circulation of 2.0 thousand copies; 15-20 of them are recommended by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. 43
  • 44. Geological Museum Geological Museum founded in 1973 is one of the best in Europe due to the variety of collections of minerals and rocks. For more than 135 years over 15 thousand exhibits have been collected from all over the world. Some items were purchased at exhibitions, during different expeditions and from private sellers in Bonn, Paris, Prague, Vienna, New York, Geneva, Philadelphia. Its high status was confirmed by recognizing the Museum’s mineralogical collection National Property Object that is part of entry files of the State Register (Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine №1103-Р of December 15, 2007). 44

Innovation Exhibition Complex (IEC) Innovation Exhibition Complex (IEC) having the area of ​​over 1,000 square meters was built with the assistance of NJSC "Naftogaz of Ukraine" and dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the University. Its aim is to demonstrate the achievements of enterprises and organizations of the petroleum industry of Ukraine as well as the pilot projects of the university’s scientists. This Complex helps to implement pilot projects and begin new ones by making contacts with new business and academic partners from different regions of the country. 45
  • 46. University History Museum University History Museum, renewed in 2007, covers the area of ​​250 sq.m.This Museum contains old and modern exhibits. The most valuable are those of scientific and educational nature such as personal things of famous scientists in oil and gas industry, who worked at the university. A special place in the Museum is given to the history of oil and gas production, stages of petroleum education development in Ukraine, originated in Galicia. It holds materials related to the establishment of university, chronicles of schools and departments, photographs, paintings, souvenirs and other gifts from around the world. The museum contains approximately 1,500 exhibits. It is visited annually by 5 thousand students, faculty staff and guests. 46
  • 47. Leisure Students Centre for Culture and Leisure (SCCL) was established in 1973. It is currently part of the overall educational process of the University. The main objective of the Centre is to develop spiritual life of students, promote Ukrainian and world culture and art, organize substantial leisure and development of students’ artistic abilities. SCCL carries out a wide range of activities, namely: «Freshmen inauguration»; gala concerts on The University Day, Victory Day, international scientific conferences; theme events dedicated to important national events, celebration of prominent dates in the history of Ukraine; academies of classical music, entertainment shows; amateur contests, team competition in "the Club of the Smart and Quick-Witted" and «What?Where?When?». Shevchenko’ days celebrations and charitable events also take place. Performances of the amateur art groups at festivals and contests in our region, in country and abroad represent Precarpathian original culture, diversify the student life. There is a developed system of canteens, a sports complex and a stadium with total seating capacity of 10 thousand seats, a swimming pool, playgrounds and sport sections, recreation camp “Naftovyk”, which is located in the Yablunytsia pass in the Carpathian Mountains. There are many other facilities at students’ disposal too. 50
