Florida Hospital And The United States
Florida Hospital has grown to be one of the largest healthcare providers in the United States. Impressively, Florida Hospital had a very humble
beginning and a modest growth. In 1908, a small group of Seventh Day Adventists in Orlando developed their vision of bringing health care to the
area. As part of their philanthropy, they were able to raise the funds necessary to purchase FloridaHospital's first facility near Lake Estelle. It was a
two story farmhouse that had a wraparound porch and had once served those needing treatment for tuberculosis. The facility had the capacity to care for
20 patients at any given time.
During the 1950s, Florida Hospital transformed its two story farm house to a structure that was able to care for 160 patients. They were able to
make improvements to the facility, such as air conditioning, that allowed for year round care to patients. With each purchase of new facilities in the
decades to follow, Florida Hospital has grown to over 20 hospitals large, providing services to many people who live in Central Florida and the
surrounding areas. This has allowed the network to include many leaders in their respective fields to offer care to patients in many different specialized
areas.
The mission of Florida Hospital was developed with inspiration from the study of scripture. Since the founders of Florida Hospital, the Seventh– day
Adventist Church, were faith based, the mission became to "extend the healing ministry of Christ." This mission drives

Cephalosporin Case Study
1. What assessments will you make prior to prescribing a cephalosporin? The patient's medication allergies need to be questioned due to the high
incidence of a drug reaction to cephalosporins if the patient has an allergy to penicillin (UpToDate, 2015). 2. What first–line cephalosporin will you
prescribe? When treating primary or secondary skin infections, first generation cephalosporins are recommended as the standard initial treatment (Woo
& Wynne, 2012). According to Woo & Wynne (2012), cephalexin is the most used drug for surgical incision infections (Woo & Wynne, 2012). Woo &
Wynne (2012) recommend dosing for cephalexin for soft tissue and skin infections 500mg every 12 hours (Woo & Wynne, 2012). 3. What are the
pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacotherapeutics for the first–line cephalosporins? (Address the action, use, contraindications,
drug–to–drug and drug–to–food interaction, adverse effects, and patient teaching/nursing interventions.) According to Woo & Wynne (2012):
Pharmacokinetics: Oral forms of cephalosporins are well absorbed from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Absorption is delayed by food, except for in

This requires clinical, microbiological, and laboratory data. Signs and symptoms of superinfections should be noted. Nurses must also note signs and
symptoms of hemolytic anemia. Urinalysis, BUN, and creatinine should be used to assess the patient's renal function when they are on prolonged
treatment. If impaired renal function is indicated the dosage should be decreased. Some cephalosporins affect blood clotting and require a baseline and
assessment of prothrombin level (PT). These patients should also be monitored for disulfiram reactions. Nurses should also educate patients on
administration, adverse reactions, side effects, and lifestyle management (Woo & Wynne,

Service Recruitment And Retention : Pocahontas Memorial
Provider Recruitment and Retention Pocahontas Memorial will focus on recruiting younger physicians no more than five years out of their training.
Due to the aging physician community, younger providers are needed when the current providers retire (Cohn & Harlow, 2009). If the recruitment team
focuses on the younger, newly graduated physicians, the physicians they recruit are more likely to stay with the organization longer. Younger
physicians also have a different work–life balance approach (Cohn & Harlow, 2009). This is due to the more family oriented view, which, living in a
rural community, it is easier to have that balance. Rural areas are generally less stressful as they do not have traditional "big city" issues such as
traffic, crowding issues, and the need to rush everywhere. The strategies that can be used are an increase in Chief Executive Officer (CEO) involvement,
compelling marketing material, technology, financial incentives, and the execution of the job offer (Cohn & Harlow, 2009). CEO involvement is a
large component to recruiting and retaining the physicians that will be employed within the Pocahontas community. This is because the physicians that
are being recruited see the accountability of the leadership team to ensure their advancement and compensation within the organization (Cohn &
Harlow,). This accountability ensures that the leadership of the organization is in–sync allowing for a better work place, and ensures the organization is

HSA 300 – Health Services Organization Management
Professor Janet Kaplan
The Primary Care Clinic
Many important factors go into play when running a healthcare organization. I plan to discuss some of the key components that have influenced the
development of this health care facility. Theclinic mission statement will be stated and addressed to clear up any confusion. I plan to identify the
three performance measures I would use to measure the clinic's effectiveness and provide the rationale for each performance measure. I will also
explain ways in which I will approach the decisions on expansions. I will also describe the role the primary clinic has played in the healthcare systems

(2010). This information is obtained through financial reports, complaint records, and ongoing client surveys. The second performance measure I
would use would be responsive communication. This measures satisfaction surveys retention, absenteeism, and vacancy measures. These measures
will let us know what is going within the organization. Some examples are percent of "loyal" associates, percent of RN positions are vacant, and
tenure of associates. The concept of this is associate satisfaction, retention, and complaints. In order to provide excellent care, we will need to know
what the staff is feeling. Happy employees mean better performance which equals better patient care. For the third measure, I would focus on
corporate design. Corporate design measures market share, efficacy of care, per capita cost of care, improvements unmet or delayed and variation in
internal performance. The concept behind this measure is to find the extent of service, uniformity of performance, and competitor relations. Surveys
are a big part of obtaining all this information and provide a great deal of knowledge on how well this organization is performing.
The Decisions Regarding Annual Plan Approval and Clinic Expansion Business plans are models of a specific strategy or function that guides

Why Pursue Legal Education
Through the trajectory of my life, there have been many experiences that have contributed to my drive to pursue a legal education and seek social
justice. From my family, to my volunteer activities, to my present employment; every single thing I have taken part in over the last 21 years has
played a role in my desire to study and practice law.
Last December, I received the most definitive phone call of my university career. I was selected amongst a high number of applicants to be the Head of
the Social Science Orientation Program. I had committed countless hours to this program, my team, our charity initiatives, and my first–year mentees. I
was now responsible for selecting, training, and leading 90 volunteers through the execution of a successful orientation week, and first year, for 1,700
incoming students. Beyond my designated role of implementing programming and managing a $20,000 budget, I had two crucial obligations within
this position. First, I was to build a team with strong leadership skills, to ensure that the incoming class would receive adequate ... Show more content

compassion for others with a law degree in order to have the chance to improve the quality of life of those in need and help them to regain hope. The
University of Ottawa Faculty of Law can provide me with that chance. Ottawa's Law school shares my passion for leadership and community
engagement, as made evident through the variety of hands–on experiences available through legal clinics that work closely with the law school. At
Ottawa, I can achieve an exceptional education and continue my active involvement on campus and within the community. The opportunity to real

The Canadian Health Care System
The Canadian health care system is funded majorly by the public, with very few private donations. Over the past few decades acts of large–scale
philanthropy by wealthy private donors have started to increase, due to the investments in social programs and infrastructure from the government
declining. Without the aid of private donors and large sources of income from outside of the public (government) the infrastructure of all hospitals,
clinics, and the totality of western healthcare systems would collapse and ultimately fail as the system is set up presently. There is an opportunity of
keeping a healthy and happy society sustained by public funds, as long as the government is able to step up and provide the healthcare system with
enough funds, making the donations from philanthropists an excess instead of a necessity. Debt is a burden that is implemented by those who own
it. Debt is the punishment for any group or person that dedicates their work to only helping those in need. Debt can only be lifted by those with
enough money. An employer helps an employee 's debt in exchange for work, a student 's debt is alleviated if the University grants a scholarship, a
bank receiving a bailout from the government ; or a person/group giving money, donating money to something or someone else. The only way that
there is no cost to the receiver, is if the money were given. Workers must work for there money, a student must succeed in school, and a donation must
be to a certain thing and

Situation Analysis-Peace Memorial Hospital Essay
Situation Analysis–Peace Memorial Hospital
Peace Memorial Hospital is a 600–bed, independent, not–for–profit, general hospital located on the southern periphery of a major western city. It is one
of six general hospitals in the city and twenty in the county. After doing much research, the Board of Directors has decided that they should open an
ambulatory location in the downtown area, to be known as the Downtown Health Clinic (DHC). The clinic will have 4 major objectives: "1. To expand
the hospital's referral base, 2. To increase referrals of privately insured patients, 3. To establish a liaison with the business community by addressing
employers' specific health needs, and 4. To become self–supporting three years after opening" (Kerin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Case of Perpetual Mercy Hospital
Case of Perpetual Mercy Hospital
Problem
The broad focus of this case is one of strategy planning. Perpetual Mercy Hospital has to determine the best course of action to help the Downtown
Health Clinic achieve its stated objectives of expanding the hospital's referral base, increasing referrals of privately insured patients, establishing a
liaison with the business community, and becoming self–supporting within three years of its opening. This last objective is jeopardized by the
possibility of a competing clinic opening 5 blocks north of the DHC's location. The underlying problem is that the DHC may not be self–sufficient
within the projected timeframe, regardless of competition.

All nearby ambulatory care clinics are servicing suburban patients. Another firm, believed to be Medcenter, has sponsored a study to determine if

overlapping area covering 3,424 workers. Medcenter is fairly successful in its current location, and has a reputation for being aggressive and
market–oriented. Their current facility already offers 12–hour office days and has 2 physicians on 8–hour shifts. Medcenter appears to be interested in
developing employer services of its own.

My Experience In My Life
On the night of April 7, 1997, my seven–year–old body flew from the backseat of a Nissan Sentra and crashed through the front passenger window
onto the roadway of Old Town, Staten Island. I woke up on a hospital stretcher in pain and perplexed. My eyes were filled with shattered glass. I
had no mobility in either of my arms; my right arm was wrapped in gauze and plaster; and my left arm had an IV in it. Two days later I was
informed of the full extent of my injuries. I shouted at my nurse, "But how will I eat, write, shower, and how will I use the bathroom? What about
my hair? How will I put on my clothes? "You will learn how." she said. Arriving home after two maddening weeks of not being able to take care of
myself, I attempted to return to normalcy without my nurses at my bedside. Barely out of third grade, I was confronted with the biggest decision
I would ever make in my life. Would I adapt to this physical change or let it plague me, and define me, for the rest of my life? I had to learn how to
perform my daily functions using only my left hand as opposed to my right. Day and night, I worked on my poor penmanship. One of my biggest
challenges was learning how to tie my shoes. I could have used Velcro or curly shoestrings, but I refused. I easily could have asked my mom or
friends to tie my shoes. However, I did not want any assistance that would hinder me from regaining my independence. With the help of my mouth and
left arm, I was able to tie my shoelaces. I was

Argumentative Essay On Law School
"What do lawyers learn in law school? They learn to win... what they've got to start thinking is how do they solve problems." –Benjamin Carson Law
school can be a painfully long process. For some, it's worth it. For others, the painfully long process can be stressful and mentally challenging.
Although the path to becoming a lawyer is very demanding, a person can reduce the stress by studying the positive, negative, and mentally challenging
aspects that he or she may face. Some may worry about the affects of law school, but they need to remember there are a lot of positives in it. First of
all, it all depends on the type of person you are in law school to see if your mental health will be affected. The Wellness Committee at Indiana Law
School is a safe haven for students suffering from depression, anxiety, extreme stress, or any other types of mental health issues. So, considering that
some law schools have clinics and doctors to help the mentally sick, people can also seek advice or help off–site, or off campus. For instance, the JLAP
(Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program) is not on a specific campus but it is a place where you can seek assistance. The program will keep all of
their patient's problems and concerns confidential so they need no stress about their peers knowing. (Covington)
Just because you have heard about the struggles of some people who have had a mental illness from their college era doesn't mean that you will too.
For example, individuals that choose

Reflection Paper On Domestic Violence Legal Clinic
I am an intern at the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic, located on the first floor of the Domestic Violence Courthouse of Chicago at 555 W Harrison
St. The clinic offers free civil legal assistance to low–income victims of domestic violence. I have been interning at the clinic since August 28, 2017 for
15–20 hours a week. I originally intended to intern on Mondays and Fridays from 8:30AM–4:30 PM, but due to holidays and instances in which the
clinic was closed on Fridays, I now also intern on Wednesdays from 8:30 AM–12:30 PM. A typical day for me at the clinic begins at 8:30 AM, when
the buildings opens. The actual court opens for first returns of service 9:00 AM. I usually wait around 30–45 minutes until the clients fill out their
intakes before we proceed with the paperwork they need to file an order of protection. If there are no clients by 9:30 AM, I usually go to the second
floor to observe in court. Most of the time this consists of cross–examinations, which I don't observe often when I work with Pro Se litigants in the
afternoon. In other instances, when clients are not able to stay for the whole process of filing an order of protection on Fridays, they come back on
Mondays and I help them as soon as I get to the clinic. This has happened in the past with Spanish–speaking clients who need me to translate the
process for them. In a typical week, I help from three to five clients with their orders of protection, guiding them through the whole process. Once the

My Field Placement At The Puerto Rican Family Institute...
I am currently doing my field placement at the Puerto Rican Family Institute clinic in Brooklyn, NY. The mission statement for the organization is, "to
enhance the functioning and self–sufficiency of diverse marginalized communities and prevent family disintegration." I am currently doing individual,
family, couples, and group psychotherapy at the outpatient clinic. The clinic is in a lower socioeconomic area in Bushwick, that is currently in the
process of gentrification. The program that I work in specifically, offers both therapeutic and psychiatric services for the patients that are enrolled in the
program.
The client population that we serve primarily has Medicaid, and the clinic does have a sliding scale for those who do not have insurance. Anyone from
the ages of 5 – 99 years old can receive services through the organization. The majority of the population primarily speak Spanish and are of the
Hispanic descent. Many of the patients that are seen at the clinic have a wide range of diagnosis' such as: depression, bi–polar disorder, anxiety,
ADHD, and schizophrenia. The patients are in the lower income bracket, and are working between 1–2 jobs to support their family. Many times they
live with many other family members in a small and/or temporary housing unit.
My position within the agency is very clinical. We are suggested to see our patients once a week and are expected to complete a psychosocial
assessment and a treatment plan for them. Together with the patient, I

The transplant department at the Cleveland Clinic saves lives on a daily basis, and the heart center is ranked number one in the world. People from all
over the world come to the Cleveland Clinic for treatment, a fact that every care giver that works for the Clinic can be proud of. From the physician
performing a procedure, to the janitorial staff that cleans the room, and everyone in–between, each one has their own part to play in the world class
care of our patients. Coming from the finance department, they key issue Mr. Fiorilli deals with, is the rising cost of health care. He believes that
with more than forty million people dependent upon entitlements, the deep economic issues of our country are driving up the cost of health care.
From the finance perspective, the number of dollars that are written off to charity must come from somewhere, and the government subsidies that
used to cover those costs, no longer do. Medicare pays less and less every year, increasing disallowances for cpt codes they paid the year prior, and
the two percent sequestration they now withhold on every claim has cut deeply into the intake of every care giver and facility in the country. To offset
those costs, the care givers must raise rates of the self pay and commercial insurance. The more the government pays out in entitlements the less they
have to subsidize facilities. Mr. Fiorilli states he really has no

Free Health Care Clinics are Effective for The Uninsured...
Health has become an expensive affair to most people especially those that suffer from long term diseases such as diabetes. Most of the uninsured
people in the neighborhood do not get the relevant healthcare service and hence they need a source of better services such as free clinics that can deal
with the major issues affecting health (Huntington, 2012). The mobilization of these free clinics comes with a price as they affect the community both
positively and negatively. Free clinics can either be temporary or permanent and this incurs different expenses depending on the type of structure
chosen. Free clinics are effective for those people without insurance as they tend to get treatment for different diseases and this improves the lives...

Health problems have continued to increase due to socioeconomic changes, demographics and the patterns of disease largely attributed to lifestyle.
For example, an area dominated my low income earners is likely to have more cares of illness, their income lowers eligibility to health insurance and
most of the investors as well as charity may not be willing to setup healthcare centers in the areas. This has led to an increase in demand for health
care and a challenge is posed where there are no facilities to cater for this demand. The health care system is plagued by corruption and low quality
care, which has led to low satisfaction of the consumers. For instance, in case a patient is uninsured he or she is likely to wait for long to be served in
the public hospitals than the one who is insured.
The free clinics are in a position to attend to these problems as they will reduce congestion in the hospitals and make those people without insurance
plans to have access to proper medication. This will immensely improve the living standards of people as they get to eat and work well, which
eventually will enhance economic growth (Fertig, Corso & Balasubramaniam, 2012). Health care is viewed to be a public good and its demand and
supply is not determined by the forces of the market. The major problem that people face is the cost of treating ailments that require special treatment.

COMMUNITY VITALITY
During the windshield assessment of Fabens, TX, not many citizens were seen walking outside. There were a minute amount of people seen outside a
gas station, filling–up their cars within the community. Additional citizens were mostly seen at University Medical Outpatient Clinic. Consequently,
there were neither tourists nor apparent visitors to this town except for us solitary Texas Tech students. Perhaps, the only noticeable, prospective
visitors may have been those individuals seen near an Interstate 10 gas station, situated on the edge of this township. Most citizens that were look to be
between the ages of 35–65 years old, with the exception of a hand–full of children. That was seen at the health clinic; ranging in between the ages of
7–12 years old. Hispanics were the only visible ethnicity detected during the conduction of this assessment.
The general appearances of those constituents were healthy, clean, and decently dressed. None of the citizens appear to be malnourished and those
who exemplify obese attributes were no more than 20 pounds overweight. No citizens with disabilities or mental disorders were seen. None of the
citizens that were observed seemed to under the influence of alcohol or drugs. During the assessment, there were no pregnant women or women with

The Rican Family Institute Clinic
The Puerto Rican Family Institute clinic in Brooklyn is currently undergoing a new organizational structure due to a high turnover of recent employees.
The previous director for the clinic had been in the same position for 25 years, and once she left, the structure started to decline. The new director,
James Chavez, has been overseeing the clinic for a year now, and the clinic has been evolving ever since. Due to such a drastic change in roles, the
clinic has been using a lateral organizational structure to help the director and keep the flow going. Since the clinic in Brooklyn is smaller, there is a
lot of cohesiveness that happens within various departments. The director always has the final say, but many times, the staff will work together to help
one another. I have received a lot of guidance due to the lateral structure, and I am thankful for that. The clinic has many full–time staff clinicians and
the majority have a background in social work. Since the director comes from a social work background also, there is a strong social work presence.
The social worker's role is to provide one–on–one psychotherapy, give a pre–diagnostic impression, and complete treatment plans. They also assess for
strengths, goals, and triggers to provide clients with a strong therapeutic experience. Services are being approached and delivered thoroughly because
the clinic recently went through various audits in the past few years. There is a specific way that they like to have things

Legal Services Clinic System Advantages And Disadvantages
Introduction:
As India lives in its villages, it is imperative that the villagers be provided an effective legal assistance in their village itself. As of now it is also a
fact that most of the legal services institutions are located in urban and semi–urban areas which position puts the villagers at a disadvantage. To
overcome this hurdle a Scheme of Legal Aid Clinics has been prepared to provide legal relief easily to the indigent and backward sections of our society.

Suitcase General Clinic Case Study
To examine and evaluate my research question, I ended up deciding upon using three different clinics as my field sites: the Berkeley Free Clinic, the
Suitcase General Clinic, and the Suitcase Youth/LGBTQ+ Clinic primarily due to their geographical proximity and because they were excellent
examples of organizations which, despite their similarity in terms of services offered, have vastly different organizational structures and work cultures.
The setting of my first field site, or the Berkeley Free Clinic, was a largely run–down basement area under a church. The very entrance to the clinic
was relatively ominous, dirty, and had a series of doors monitored by dusty, degenerating security cameras that one had to pass through before they

My second field site of observation, or the Suitcase General Clinic, a large gym area situated in a church near campus, though also relatively run–down
and dilapidated, was markedly different, as rather than possessing a waiting lobby surrounded by cubicles which defined the appropriate location of
where patient–volunteer interaction "should" take place, the Suitcase General Clinic had a large common room where volunteers and clients alike
interacted and moved freely around. Furthermore, though this field site also had various different stations like the Berkeley Free Clinic, such as a
housing division, legal consultation team, hair–cutting services, and foot–washing, these stations were all relatively "open" to the clients, not sealed off
or necessarily restrictive in their scope of access; one did not have to make an appointment prior to coming into clinic. My last field site, or the
Suitcase Youth/LGBTQ+ Clinic, was relatively similar to the General Clinic, its only difference being that it was held in a smaller gym area, it had
different, distinct decorations (LBGT flags), and that the music played appealed to a younger

Healthcare Information Systems ( Pms ) And Electronic...
In today's information age, there is a growing trend towards digitalization of the services provided. A field of study that has recently gained momentum
is healthcare. Over a course of time, a patient's healthcare information is progressively accumulated, therefore is a high need of a systematic system that
can efficiently store as well as retrieve all that medical information when in need. Two healthcare information systems that provide such an electronic
medium for patient care are: practice management systems (PMS) and electronic medical records (EMR). Despite the potential benefits, the
implementation of these processes impose some challenges, for instance in the case of establishing mobile health clinics by the Children's Health Fund
(CHF) (Brown, C.V., Dehayes, D.W., Hoffer, J.A, Martin, E.W., & Perkins, W.C., 2012).
Background to the Organization
CHF is an organization that strives to provide basic healthcare to the country's underprivileged population primarily the children under the age of 24
(Brown et al., 2012). In 1987, Dr Irwin Redlener, the cofounder and the president of the organization established the organization in New York City
(Brown et al., 2012). Another co–founder of this organization was a singer and songwriter named Paul Simon (Brown et al., 2012). Initially, the
organization's primary focus was to mainly provide healthcare to homeless kids, which was later transitions to a broader goal. The organization runs

Medical School And Pursuit Of A Career As A Physician...
I first experienced the revitalizing field of clinical research and data analysis while working at the Stony Brook Heart Institute as a certified clinical
research coordinator. For three and a half years, I had the unique opportunity of working closely with patients whose debilitating, chronic, refractory
cardiovascular illnesses lend them few viable treatments options other than to pursue experiemntal treatmentts. Our team cycled through dozens of
different clinical trials over the years, working with globally recognized technology and healthcare companies such as Merck, Abbott, Medtronic. These
experiences taught me more than I could have imagined about how basic science is translated in a clinical setting to ultimately improve health
outcomes. –––––– A desire to elevate my involvement in caring for the ill and exploring new research ideas led to my subsequent enrollment in
medical school and pursuit of a career as a physician scientist.
As a student doctor, I continued to explore three core parts of my identity: a deep appreciation for the humanistic and scientific intricacies of the human
body; intense enjoyment of research and analytical thinking; and a sincere devotion to serve. One of the most frustrating aspects of preclinical medical
education is not having ample opportunity to learn medicine in the field through experience, and relegating the majority of learning to textbooks or
small group discussions. To augment my devotion to serve the community in a way that

Free Medical Clinics Should Be Legal
There are approximately 1,700 free medical clinics scattered across the United States. In 2008, free medical clinics treated more than 4 million
uninsured patients with no federal money. Twelve hundred federally and state funded community health care centers treated 7 million patients. (http:/

professionals create partnerships with various healthcare providers, hospitals, and community officials to provide quality care where it is most needed
by members of the community.
The Free Clinic's mission is to provide quality health care and related services free of charge to those who lack appropriate alternatives, including the
uninsured and underinsured. The clinic also serves, those using Medicaid and Medicare. Dental and Behavioral Services will be also be available.
Patients must call ahead for appointment and bring appropriate identification. Providing quality health care services utilizing commonly accepted

The Empty Bowls Make-A-Thon
Bowl Making In November, I attended the Empty Bowls Make–a–Thon where I, along with others from the college, made a bowl from clay. The
finished bowls will be sold at a benefit dinner where diners will pay for a meal and keep the bowl. All of the proceeds from the dinner will benefit
the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley. Empty bowls is an international fundraiser to help fight hunger. Artists make bowls to donate to community
organizations and the bowls are sold to raise money. Not only did I have a new experience while creating my bowl, I was also able to help someone
in need. Shapiro believes a liberal education is beneficial for an individual and for a community. Social and cultural experiences ought to give meaning
to both individual and community lives. By participating in the Empty Bowls Make–a–Thon, I was able to improve both myself and my community.
Liberal education encourages improving and broadening one's experiences, which I was able to do within Westminster College. In a way, the bowl
making also relates to "The Good Samaritan." In the story, a Samaritan happens upon an injured stranger and decides to take the time and help him.

Patient Safety And Interdisciplinary Communication....
Patient Safety and Interdisciplinary Communication
Introduction
Communication between patients and all members of their health team is essential for positive outcomes for the patient Following the seven principles
of communication, utilizing communication tools to improve interdisciplinary communication such as SBAR and team huddles, and the importance of
ethical principles are ways to maximize communication between all members of the patients' health care team.
Principles of Communication
Ineffective communication between health care members can lead to patient harm and medical errors (MacLean, Kelly, Gaddes, & Della, 2017, p. 90).
Being able to communicate with all members of the health care team is essential for patient safety. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fifth principle, the right information, calls for the patient to be presented with all the options in the treatment plan, including cost, risks, and
alternative options. Transparency and full disclosure are the sixth principle. The clinician is responsible for outlining all information of the different
treatment options. The patient also needs to open and honest about health history and economic status to ensure the correct options can be made.
Continuous learning is the seventh principle. The patient and the clinician continue to have open dialogue even after the treatment plan has been
made. This will allow for changes to made if necessary and will also provide updates on health status (Paget et al., 2012). Applying these seven
principles in practice contributes to a better outcome for the patient. I use at least three of the principles when working in my clinics.
I am one team member of a multidisciplinary clinic, so I am very aware of the importance of effective communication. The clinic is comprised of the
physician, an occupational therapist, a speech therapist, a physical therapist, a psychometrician, and a developmental psychologist. Our clinic is

INTRODUCTION
For my key informant interview I chose to contact the Outpatient Diabetic Education Department at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas,
Texas. The reason I chose Texas Health Presbyterian is that it belongs to the most extensive hospital network in North Texas. Texas Health Resources

Texas Health Presbyterian. Texas Health Presbyterian is an 888 bed acute care hospital in Dallas County and is one of many hospitals that serve

more than 1, 500 small ceramic bowls were on display. They were all intentionally empty because empty blows represented someone in the Pittsburgh

With globalizations, middle–class Americans are experiencing a new level of employment uncertainty, which speaks to the increase in homelessness
and food insecurity. According to our class guest speaker Vic Papale, "Americans are faced with higher domestic food prices, reduced incomes and
employment and having already sold off assets, reduced food consumption and cut spending on essential items such as health care and education."
These families and individuals risk falling deeper into destitution and the hunger–poverty trap. In other words, hunger makes poverty intergenerational.
In terms of employment, we discussed in class how employers prefer not to employ the undernourished, ill–dressed or uneducated. However,
individuals or families that are experiencing consistent food insecurity are often poor and or, undernourish. Therefore, without an equal chance to
represent their capabilities or speak on behalf of themselves, this population is excluded from the job market. This is a fact that many politicians, job

How Clinics Can Be Integrated Into The Curriculum
Below is a description of how clinics can be integrated into the curriculum in a manner consistent with the principles enunciated above. A. LAW
CENTER I Law Center I would not begin until the second semester of the first year. In the first semester, as noted above, students would complete
practical skills instruction in doctrinal courses and the cross–curricular hypothetical, which would give students a foundation of experience that could
be refined in the first clinical course. For example, in the first semester, students would perform an initial client interview, conduct book and electronic
research, and draft a predictive memorandum, client letter, and complaint. At the beginning of the second semester of the first year, a select group of
high performing students would be chosen to participate in Law Center I, and assignments would be consistent with the assignments completed in the
first semester. Thus, in Law Center I, students would interview and screen potential clients, and perform research. In doing so, Law Center I provides
students with the opportunity to transfer skills learned in the prior semester to a new legal context – and on behalf of a real client. This approach would
be followed in each subsequent semester, with students building upon the skills acquired in doctrinal and skills courses, and faculty gradually
increasing the complexity of work and level of responsibility. B. LAW CENTER II Law Center II, which would

I have finally reached the last training session before the legal clinic goes live next week. This session focused on a quick revision of material we

enabling me to write my letters of advice. First, we were introduced to the different types of homeless people; these being street homeless, hidden

Throughout the course of my life I have been exposed to many homeless people, however I have never made an effort to communicate with any of
these people. Thinking about how this can be a common enquiry makes me disappointed in myself, since I have never really tried to understand what
situation they might be going through. Often many people, including myself, walk past homeless people and continue with their day, acknowledging
them as much as we would a park bench or a tree. They are, regrettably, often treated as simply part of the wider background around us. I read an
article last year produced by the Guardian, whereby a reporter slept rough across the UK in an attempt to assess why the homeless situation has
become so bad (Mark Rice–Oxley (2016)). One of the homeless people that the reporter met was only seventeen years old. To think that someone
younger than myself is denied her most basic human rights is deeply saddening. I think back to all of the times me and my housemates complain
that our house is too cold. This problem seems miniscule compared to hers. It is for this reason that I look forward to being able to help someone
who is facing such difficulties. Being exposed to these problems will enable me to grow as a person, and to become more empathetic to those who
do not have it as easy as myself. Many of the homeless people that were spoken to by the

The Importance Of Planned Parenthood
Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organization which provides affordable reproductive care, currently receives government funding. Those in need of
affordable health care can go to PPFA for STI treatment, pap smears, and prevention of unintended pregnancies. The problem arises in PPFA's
prevention of unintended pregnancies, particularly abortion. But abortion is not the only issue the public finds in the organization. The public has
recently questioned PPFA's integrity and motives as their controversial actions are exposed. Government–funded health care should be easily accessible
for all people, but Planned Parenthood is not the organization for this. Instead, the government should push its funds towards organizations whose
practices are not controversial and still provide quality health care.
Although Planned Parenthood provides other affordable health care services for men, women, and children, many people find their service of
abortion controversial and seek to defund them specifically for the discontinuation of this practice. Abortion was legalized under the Roe vs Wade
case in 1973 and soon after, PPFA made it one of their available services so they could provide maximum reproductive health care for all women.
Since its legalization, abortion has taken the lives of nearly sixty million children. Out of the sixty million, PPFA is responsible for 7.7 million
(Number of Abortions). Defunding the organization would cause 1) an increase in birth rates, 2) an increase in

Truman State University: Non-Profit Analysis
For years, it had been my goal to work at a nonprofit. I slowly worked toward this goal by obtaining my Master of Accountancy at Truman State
University and doing a variety of volunteer work along the way. I won the Sister Ann Kessler annual community service scholarship my junior year of
undergraduate school for volunteer and leadership work and continued to assist through the SERVE Center during graduate school.
After graduate school, worked for a short while at the University of Missouri before obtaining a full–time position with Wohlenberg, Ritzman, and Co.,
LLC, the same auditing firm where I did my internship and worked part–time during my senior year of undergraduate school. I believed this would be a
better gateway meeting my goal of working for a nonprofit. I traveled to and audited a variety of nonprofit and government organizations across the
United States.
In 2013, I obtained my dream by becoming the Chief Financial Officer of a community health clinic. Going into the position, I could not help but be

Swot Analysis For A Rural Satellite Clinic
SWOT–Analysis
A SWOT–Analysis is a useful strategic tool for PMH to utilize when determining whether a rural satellite clinic will be a profitable market venture. A
SWOT–Analysis is a diagram that considers organizations' internal competencies (strengths and weaknesses) and external developments (opportunities
and threats) affecting the institution (Van Wijngaarden, Scholten, & Van Wijk, 2012). Therefore a SWOT analysis for PMH's satelliteclinic project
includes the following strengths: PMH current rural health clinic is successful and provides patients with increased access to outpatient health care
services even after business hours and on weekends; offers a patient portal for customers to electronically access their health information; and gives
patients access to rotating specialty care services (i.e. podiatry, nephrology, and surgery) (PMH, n.d.). Also, PMH has built strong relationships
throughout Pocahontas County that increases public perceptions for their institution and acceptability for the developing of new business ventures
(PMH, n.d.). Finally, PMH has an in–house billing center that assists patients with their health care payments and offers a Payment Assistance Program
to those patients who have difficulty paying their bills (PMH, n.d.).
However, there are internal weaknesses that are affecting PMH ability to provide exceptional services to their consumers. Many of PMH's customers

I saw that the law affects how people view the world, but I also learned that the past is the greatest signifier of how people are viewed socially and
legally. It gave me a clear perspective of the interplay between race, society, and law. Through this knowledge, I became motivated to assist people in
navigating through this cycle. Although our country has problems it also awards people (me), the means to effect change through direct action and
knowledge. As a result, I am driven to create change on an individual level through community service and volunteer work.
Inspired by my passion to create change, I volunteered as an AmeriCorps VISTA. I committed to a one–year community service minded immersal
program in Atlantic City. This gave me the opportunity work with community programs such as Campus Kitchen and Stockton College Day of

  • 3. Florida Hospital And The United States Florida Hospital has grown to be one of the largest healthcare providers in the United States. Impressively, Florida Hospital had a very humble beginning and a modest growth. In 1908, a small group of Seventh Day Adventists in Orlando developed their vision of bringing health care to the area. As part of their philanthropy, they were able to raise the funds necessary to purchase FloridaHospital's first facility near Lake Estelle. It was a two story farmhouse that had a wraparound porch and had once served those needing treatment for tuberculosis. The facility had the capacity to care for 20 patients at any given time. During the 1950s, Florida Hospital transformed its two story farm house to a structure that was able to care for 160 patients. They were able to make improvements to the facility, such as air conditioning, that allowed for year round care to patients. With each purchase of new facilities in the decades to follow, Florida Hospital has grown to over 20 hospitals large, providing services to many people who live in Central Florida and the surrounding areas. This has allowed the network to include many leaders in their respective fields to offer care to patients in many different specialized areas. The mission of Florida Hospital was developed with inspiration from the study of scripture. Since the founders of Florida Hospital, the Seventh– day Adventist Church, were faith based, the mission became to "extend the healing ministry of Christ." This mission drives ... • 4. Cephalosporin Case Study 1. What assessments will you make prior to prescribing a cephalosporin? The patient's medication allergies need to be questioned due to the high incidence of a drug reaction to cephalosporins if the patient has an allergy to penicillin (UpToDate, 2015). 2. What first–line cephalosporin will you prescribe? When treating primary or secondary skin infections, first generation cephalosporins are recommended as the standard initial treatment (Woo & Wynne, 2012). According to Woo & Wynne (2012), cephalexin is the most used drug for surgical incision infections (Woo & Wynne, 2012). Woo & Wynne (2012) recommend dosing for cephalexin for soft tissue and skin infections 500mg every 12 hours (Woo & Wynne, 2012). 3. What are the pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and pharmacotherapeutics for the first–line cephalosporins? (Address the action, use, contraindications, drug–to–drug and drug–to–food interaction, adverse effects, and patient teaching/nursing interventions.) According to Woo & Wynne (2012): Pharmacokinetics: Oral forms of cephalosporins are well absorbed from the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. • 5. Service Recruitment And Retention : Pocahontas Memorial Provider Recruitment and Retention Pocahontas Memorial will focus on recruiting younger physicians no more than five years out of their training. Due to the aging physician community, younger providers are needed when the current providers retire (Cohn & Harlow, 2009). If the recruitment team focuses on the younger, newly graduated physicians, the physicians they recruit are more likely to stay with the organization longer. Younger physicians also have a different work–life balance approach (Cohn & Harlow, 2009). This is due to the more family oriented view, which, living in a rural community, it is easier to have that balance. Rural areas are generally less stressful as they do not have traditional "big city" issues such as traffic, crowding issues, and the need to rush everywhere. The strategies that can be used are an increase in Chief Executive Officer (CEO) involvement, compelling marketing material, technology, financial incentives, and the execution of the job offer (Cohn & Harlow, 2009). CEO involvement is a large component to recruiting and retaining the physicians that will be employed within the Pocahontas community. This is because the physicians that are being recruited see the accountability of the leadership team to ensure their advancement and compensation within the organization (Cohn & Harlow,). This accountability ensures that the leadership of the organization is in–sync allowing for a better work place, and ensures the organization is invested in their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The second performance measure I would use would be responsive communication. This measures satisfaction surveys retention, absenteeism, and vacancy measures. These measures will let us know what is going within the organization. Some examples are percent of "loyal" associates, percent of RN positions are vacant, and tenure of associates. The concept of this is associate satisfaction, retention, and complaints. In order to provide excellent care, we will need to know what the staff is feeling. Happy employees mean better performance which equals better patient care. For the third measure, I would focus on corporate design. Corporate design measures market share, efficacy of care, per capita cost of care, improvements unmet or delayed and variation in internal performance. The concept behind this measure is to find the extent of service, uniformity of performance, and competitor relations. Surveys are a big part of obtaining all this information and provide a great deal of knowledge on how well this organization is performing. The Decisions Regarding Annual Plan Approval and Clinic Expansion Business plans are models of a specific strategy or function that guides ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Why Pursue Legal Education Through the trajectory of my life, there have been many experiences that have contributed to my drive to pursue a legal education and seek social justice. From my family, to my volunteer activities, to my present employment; every single thing I have taken part in over the last 21 years has played a role in my desire to study and practice law. Last December, I received the most definitive phone call of my university career. I was selected amongst a high number of applicants to be the Head of the Social Science Orientation Program. I had committed countless hours to this program, my team, our charity initiatives, and my first–year mentees. I was now responsible for selecting, training, and leading 90 volunteers through the execution of a successful orientation week, and first year, for 1,700 incoming students. • 10. The Canadian Health Care System The Canadian health care system is funded majorly by the public, with very few private donations. Over the past few decades acts of large–scale philanthropy by wealthy private donors have started to increase, due to the investments in social programs and infrastructure from the government declining. Without the aid of private donors and large sources of income from outside of the public (government) the infrastructure of all hospitals, clinics, and the totality of western healthcare systems would collapse and ultimately fail as the system is set up presently. There is an opportunity of keeping a healthy and happy society sustained by public funds, as long as the government is able to step up and provide the healthcare system with enough funds, making the donations from philanthropists an excess instead of a necessity. Debt is a burden that is implemented by those who own it. Debt is the punishment for any group or person that dedicates their work to only helping those in need. Debt can only be lifted by those with enough money. An employer helps an employee 's debt in exchange for work, a student 's debt is alleviated if the University grants a scholarship, a bank receiving a bailout from the government ; or a person/group giving money, donating money to something or someone else. The only way that there is no cost to the receiver, is if the money were given. Workers must work for there money, a student must succeed in school, and a donation must be to a certain thing and ... • 11. Situation Analysis-Peace Memorial Hospital Essay Situation Analysis–Peace Memorial Hospital Peace Memorial Hospital is a 600–bed, independent, not–for–profit, general hospital located on the southern periphery of a major western city. Perpetual Mercy Hospital has to determine the best course of action to help the Downtown Health Clinic achieve its stated objectives of expanding the hospital's referral base, increasing referrals of privately insured patients, establishing a liaison with the business community, and becoming self–supporting within three years of its opening. This last objective is jeopardized by the possibility of a competing clinic opening 5 blocks north of the DHC's location. • 15. My Experience In My Life On the night of April 7, 1997, my seven–year–old body flew from the backseat of a Nissan Sentra and crashed through the front passenger window onto the roadway of Old Town, Staten Island. I woke up on a hospital stretcher in pain and perplexed. My eyes were filled with shattered glass. I had no mobility in either of my arms; my right arm was wrapped in gauze and plaster; and my left arm had an IV in it. Two days later I was informed of the full extent of my injuries. I shouted at my nurse, "But how will I eat, write, shower, and how will I use the bathroom? What about my hair? How will I put on my clothes? "You will learn how." she said. Arriving home after two maddening weeks of not being able to take care of myself, I attempted to return to normalcy without my nurses at my bedside. Barely out of third grade, I was confronted with the biggest decision I would ever make in my life. Would I adapt to this physical change or let it plague me, and define me, for the rest of my life? I had to learn how to perform my daily functions using only my left hand as opposed to my right. Day and night, I worked on my poor penmanship. One of my biggest challenges was learning how to tie my shoes. I could have used Velcro or curly shoestrings, but I refused. I easily could have asked my mom or friends to tie my shoes. However, I did not want any assistance that would hinder me from regaining my independence. With the help of my mouth and left arm, I was able to tie my shoelaces. I was ... • 16. Argumentative Essay On Law School "What do lawyers learn in law school? They learn to win... what they've got to start thinking is how do they solve problems." –Benjamin Carson Law school can be a painfully long process. For some, it's worth it. For others, the painfully long process can be stressful and mentally challenging. Although the path to becoming a lawyer is very demanding, a person can reduce the stress by studying the positive, negative, and mentally challenging aspects that he or she may face. Some may worry about the affects of law school, but they need to remember there are a lot of positives in it. First of all, it all depends on the type of person you are in law school to see if your mental health will be affected. The Wellness Committee at Indiana Law School is a safe haven for students suffering from depression, anxiety, extreme stress, or any other types of mental health issues. So, considering that some law schools have clinics and doctors to help the mentally sick, people can also seek advice or help off–site, or off campus. For instance, the JLAP (Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program) is not on a specific campus but it is a place where you can seek assistance. The program will keep all of their patient's problems and concerns confidential so they need no stress about their peers knowing. (Covington) Just because you have heard about the struggles of some people who have had a mental illness from their college era doesn't mean that you will too. • 17. Reflection Paper On Domestic Violence Legal Clinic I am an intern at the Domestic Violence Legal Clinic, located on the first floor of the Domestic Violence Courthouse of Chicago at 555 W Harrison St. The clinic offers free civil legal assistance to low–income victims of domestic violence. I have been interning at the clinic since August 28, 2017 for 15–20 hours a week. I originally intended to intern on Mondays and Fridays from 8:30AM–4:30 PM, but due to holidays and instances in which the clinic was closed on Fridays, I now also intern on Wednesdays from 8:30 AM–12:30 PM. A typical day for me at the clinic begins at 8:30 AM, when the buildings opens. The actual court opens for first returns of service 9:00 AM. I usually wait around 30–45 minutes until the clients fill out their intakes before we proceed with the paperwork they need to file an order of protection. If there are no clients by 9:30 AM, I usually go to the second floor to observe in court. Most of the time this consists of cross–examinations, which I don't observe often when I work with Pro Se litigants in the afternoon. In other instances, when clients are not able to stay for the whole process of filing an order of protection on Fridays, they come back on Mondays and I help them as soon as I get to the clinic. This has happened in the past with Spanish–speaking clients who need me to translate the process for them. In a typical week, I help from three to five clients with their orders of protection, guiding them through the whole process. Once the clinic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The clinic is in a lower socioeconomic area in Bushwick, that is currently in the process of gentrification. The program that I work in specifically, offers both therapeutic and psychiatric services for the patients that are enrolled in the program. The client population that we serve primarily has Medicaid, and the clinic does have a sliding scale for those who do not have insurance. Anyone from the ages of 5 – 99 years old can receive services through the organization. The majority of the population primarily speak Spanish and are of the Hispanic descent. Many of the patients that are seen at the clinic have a wide range of diagnosis' such as: depression, bi–polar disorder, anxiety, ADHD, and schizophrenia. The patients are in the lower income bracket, and are working between 1–2 jobs to support their family. Many times they live with many other family members in a small and/or temporary housing unit. From the finance perspective, the number of dollars that are written off to charity must come from somewhere, and the government subsidies that used to cover those costs, no longer do. Medicare pays less and less every year, increasing disallowances for cpt codes they paid the year prior, and the two percent sequestration they now withhold on every claim has cut deeply into the intake of every care giver and facility in the country. For example, an area dominated my low income earners is likely to have more cares of illness, their income lowers eligibility to health insurance and most of the investors as well as charity may not be willing to setup healthcare centers in the areas. This has led to an increase in demand for health care and a challenge is posed where there are no facilities to cater for this demand. The health care system is plagued by corruption and low quality care, which has led to low satisfaction of the consumers. For instance, in case a patient is uninsured he or she is likely to wait for long to be served in the public hospitals than the one who is insured. The free clinics are in a position to attend to these problems as they will reduce congestion in the hospitals and make those people without insurance plans to have access to proper medication. This will immensely improve the living standards of people as they get to eat and work well, which eventually will enhance economic growth (Fertig, Corso & Balasubramaniam, 2012). A field of study that has recently gained momentum is healthcare. Over a course of time, a patient's healthcare information is progressively accumulated, therefore is a high need of a systematic system that can efficiently store as well as retrieve all that medical information when in need. Two healthcare information systems that provide such an electronic medium for patient care are: practice management systems (PMS) and electronic medical records (EMR). Despite the potential benefits, the implementation of these processes impose some challenges, for instance in the case of establishing mobile health clinics by the Children's Health Fund (CHF) (Brown, C.V., Dehayes, D.W., Hoffer, J.A, Martin, E.W., & Perkins, W.C., 2012). However, individuals or families that are experiencing consistent food insecurity are often poor and or, undernourish. Therefore, without an equal chance to represent their capabilities or speak on behalf of themselves, this population is excluded from the job market. This is a fact that many politicians, job makers and lawmakers cease to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. How Clinics Can Be Integrated Into The Curriculum Below is a description of how clinics can be integrated into the curriculum in a manner consistent with the principles enunciated above. A. LAW CENTER I Law Center I would not begin until the second semester of the first year. In the first semester, as noted above, students would complete practical skills instruction in doctrinal courses and the cross–curricular hypothetical, which would give students a foundation of experience that could be refined in the first clinical course. For example, in the first semester, students would perform an initial client interview, conduct book and electronic research, and draft a predictive memorandum, client letter, and complaint. At the beginning of the second semester of the first year, a select group of high performing students would be chosen to participate in Law Center I, and assignments would be consistent with the assignments completed in the first semester. Thus, in Law Center I, students would interview and screen potential clients, and perform research. In doing so, Law Center I provides students with the opportunity to transfer skills learned in the prior semester to a new legal context – and on behalf of a real client. This approach would be followed in each subsequent semester, with students building upon the skills acquired in doctrinal and skills courses, and faculty gradually increasing the complexity of work and level of responsibility. • 35. Essay On Legal Clinic I have finally reached the last training session before the legal clinic goes live next week. This session focused on a quick revision of material we covered last year in our Property Law and Land Law models; the information gathered here will aid me in identifying and researching issues, and thus enabling me to write my letters of advice. First, we were introduced to the different types of homeless people; these being street homeless, hidden homeless, threatened homeless, and emergency homeless. Being in the housing clinic, it is possible that we will have clients who are, or are about to be made, homeless. In order for the local housing authority to have a duty to provide assistance to someone, they must be declared statutory... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the course of my life I have been exposed to many homeless people, however I have never made an effort to communicate with any of these people. Thinking about how this can be a common enquiry makes me disappointed in myself, since I have never really tried to understand what situation they might be going through. Often many people, including myself, walk past homeless people and continue with their day, acknowledging them as much as we would a park bench or a tree. They are, regrettably, often treated as simply part of the wider background around us. I read an article last year produced by the Guardian, whereby a reporter slept rough across the UK in an attempt to assess why the homeless situation has become so bad (Mark Rice–Oxley (2016)). One of the homeless people that the reporter met was only seventeen years old. To think that someone younger than myself is denied her most basic human rights is deeply saddening. I think back to all of the times me and my housemates complain that our house is too cold. This problem seems miniscule compared to hers. It is for this reason that I look forward to being able to help someone who is facing such difficulties. Being exposed to these problems will enable me to grow as a person, and to become more empathetic to those who do not have it as easy as myself. Many of the homeless people that were spoken to by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 37. Review Officer Student Internship Report I am a first–year student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at the University of British Columbia, and it is with great interest that I write to apply for the Review Officer Student Internship. I am interested in this position because of the valuable service that WorkSafe BC performs for the public, which I believe touches the lives of working British Columbians in a significant way. I believe my experiences make me an exceptional fit for this position. In my capacity as Special Projects Officer of the largest faculty at the University of Toronto, I was entrusted with complex responsibilities. The clinic that I volunteer at is the only one in the program that can provide such a service in Mandarin as well as Cantonese in addition to English. Because there were often more clients making appointments than clinicians available, I was often required to take several files during my clinic hours that span across a wide variety of legal issues and work on them concurrently. Doing so has not only taught me the value of using a workload management system but has also enabled me to become adept at using such systems to effective distribute, prioritize, and manage my time with each file so that I am able to help my clients to the best of my ... • 38. The Importance Of Planned Parenthood Planned Parenthood, a nonprofit organization which provides affordable reproductive care, currently receives government funding. Those in need of affordable health care can go to PPFA for STI treatment, pap smears, and prevention of unintended pregnancies. The problem arises in PPFA's prevention of unintended pregnancies, particularly abortion. But abortion is not the only issue the public finds in the organization. The public has recently questioned PPFA's integrity and motives as their controversial actions are exposed. Government–funded health care should be easily accessible for all people, but Planned Parenthood is not the organization for this. Instead, the government should push its funds towards organizations whose practices are not controversial and still provide quality health care. Although Planned Parenthood provides other affordable health care services for men, women, and children, many people find their service of abortion controversial and seek to defund them specifically for the discontinuation of this practice. Abortion was legalized under the Roe vs Wade case in 1973 and soon after, PPFA made it one of their available services so they could provide maximum reproductive health care for all women. Since its legalization, abortion has taken the lives of nearly sixty million children. Out of the sixty million, PPFA is responsible for 7.7 million (Number of Abortions). Defunding the organization would cause 1) an increase in birth rates, 2) an increase in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Truman State University: Non-Profit Analysis For years, it had been my goal to work at a nonprofit. I slowly worked toward this goal by obtaining my Master of Accountancy at Truman State University and doing a variety of volunteer work along the way. I won the Sister Ann Kessler annual community service scholarship my junior year of undergraduate school for volunteer and leadership work and continued to assist through the SERVE Center during graduate school. After graduate school, worked for a short while at the University of Missouri before obtaining a full–time position with Wohlenberg, Ritzman, and Co., LLC, the same auditing firm where I did my internship and worked part–time during my senior year of undergraduate school. I believed this would be a better gateway meeting my goal of working for a nonprofit. I traveled to and audited a variety of nonprofit and government organizations across the United States. In 2013, I obtained my dream by becoming the Chief Financial Officer of a community health clinic. Going into the position, I could not help but be excited. I had the "save the world" mentality and bravado of a young business professional. The piece of the world I was saving was a five county area in Nebraska and ... I moved the clinic to a paperless system of electronic time sheets and expense reimbursement forms. • 40. Swot Analysis For A Rural Satellite Clinic SWOT–Analysis A SWOT–Analysis is a useful strategic tool for PMH to utilize when determining whether a rural satellite clinic will be a profitable market venture. A SWOT–Analysis is a diagram that considers organizations' internal competencies (strengths and weaknesses) and external developments (opportunities and threats) affecting the institution (Van Wijngaarden, Scholten, & Van Wijk, 2012). Therefore a SWOT analysis for PMH's satelliteclinic project includes the following strengths: PMH current rural health clinic is successful and provides patients with increased access to outpatient health care services even after business hours and on weekends; offers a patient portal for customers to electronically access their health information; and gives patients access to rotating specialty care services (i.e. podiatry, nephrology, and surgery) (PMH, n.d.). Also, PMH has built strong relationships throughout Pocahontas County that increases public perceptions for their institution and acceptability for the developing of new business ventures (PMH, n.d.). Finally, PMH has an in–house billing center that assists patients with their health care payments and offers a Payment Assistance Program to those patients who have difficulty paying their bills (PMH, n.d.). However, there are internal weaknesses that are affecting PMH ability to provide exceptional services to their consumers. Many of PMH's customers live in rural areas and below the poverty line making transportation to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Essay on Personal Statement to Study Law I view my life as a puzzle; picking up pieces through my beliefs, experiences and passions and placing them in their designated positions. It is not until I created the border and most of the middle that I can began to see what my puzzle is meant to become. My picture is starting to show that I am meant to help people, specifically through the legal capacity. Author Jen Leaman wrote, "The humanrace is like a puzzle: Everyone fits in somewhere, it just takes a while to figure it out". Raised in Browns Mills, New Jersey, although as a military family we have struggled. Several bouts of experiencing homelessness have only pushed me to work hard so my family and I no longer have to struggle. These hardships I have added the borders (my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I saw that the law affects how people view the world, but I also learned that the past is the greatest signifier of how people are viewed socially and legally. It gave me a clear perspective of the interplay between race, society, and law. Through this knowledge, I became motivated to assist people in navigating through this cycle. Although our country has problems it also awards people (me), the means to effect change through direct action and knowledge. As a result, I am driven to create change on an individual level through community service and volunteer work. Inspired by my passion to create change, I volunteered as an AmeriCorps VISTA. I committed to a one–year community service minded immersal program in Atlantic City. This gave me the opportunity work with community programs such as Campus Kitchen and Stockton College Day of Service where I was able to be in the community developing programs that focused on decreasing and eventually preventing poverty at the grassroots level. While I matured professionally, it most affected me personally. During my tenure, I saw the pitfalls of where the law and public policy did not enable significant change. After a year as a VISTA, where I saw families struggling to feed and house themselves, I also experienced this battle myself. I decided that my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
