Let us assume,
Hence, amount at the end of month 1
A1= y(0) + y(0) x r/12
= y(0) x (1+r/12)
Let us consider monthly deposit at the end of month 1 = u(1)
Hence, amount at the end of month 2
A2 = (A1+u1) + {(A1+u(1)) x (1+r/12)}
Similarly, Amount at the end of month 3
A3 = (A2+u2) + {(A2+u(2)) x (1+r/12)} and so on...
Hence, general formula can be formulated as
An = {A(n-1)+u(n-1)} + { A(n-1) +U(n-1) } x (1 + r/12)
Where, An = amount at the end of nth month.
A(n-1) = amount at the end of (n-1)th month.
U(n-1) = amount deposited at the end of (n-1)th month (or beginning of nth month).
r = annual interest rate in percentage
Let's try this with given data
Let's consider initial amount as 500$, r = 10% U(0) = 0,
Hence, Amount at the end of month 1,
A1 = (500+0) x (1+0.1/12) = 504.166 $
At the end of month 1 amount deposited is 100$
Hence, amount at the end of month 2,
A2 = (504.166+100) + (504.166+100) x (1+0.1/12) = 609.201
Similar calculations are developed in excel and table is prepared for 5 years using these data and
attached herewith.

Solution
Let us assume,
Hence, amount at the end of month 1
A1= y(0) + y(0) x r/12
= y(0) x (1+r/12)
Let us consider monthly deposit at the end of month 1 = u(1)
Hence, amount at the end of month 2
A2 = (A1+u1) + {(A1+u(1)) x (1+r/12)}
Similarly, Amount at the end of month 3
A3 = (A2+u2) + {(A2+u(2)) x (1+r/12)} and so on...
Hence, general formula can be formulated as
An = {A(n-1)+u(n-1)} + { A(n-1) +U(n-1) } x (1 + r/12)
Where, An = amount at the end of nth month.
A(n-1) = amount at the end of (n-1)th month.
U(n-1) = amount deposited at the end of (n-1)th month (or beginning of nth month).
r = annual interest rate in percentage
Let's try this with given data
Let's consider initial amount as 500$, r = 10% U(0) = 0,
Hence, Amount at the end of month 1,
A1 = (500+0) x (1+0.1/12) = 504.166 $
At the end of month 1 amount deposited is 100$
Hence, amount at the end of month 2,
A2 = (504.166+100) + (504.166+100) x (1+0.1/12) = 609.201
Similar calculations are developed in excel and table is prepared for 5 years using these data and
attached herewith.
