2. Classroom Bill of Rights Students have the right to a safe environment Students have a right to be respected. Students have the right to learn Students have the right to heard Students have the right to be seen as equals Teacher has the right to teach and help all students
3. PROCEDURES Enter and exit the classroom in an orderly fashion Always check the board for “ice-breaker” assignments at the beginning of class All icebreaker assignments are due at the end of each week. If you own a smartphone, you may use it in class, as a dictionary only. Use inside voices when working groups Students are required to keep a journal. They will be checked every two weeks. If you are not sure about something, always ask. Make sure work areas are clean and that all materials are put back in their proper place.
4. CONSEQUENCES Student receive a verbal warning Name goes on the board Student will receive a check if behavior continues Student will meet with teacher for a “hallway chat” Student will move to a different desk in the area Parents will be called or receive a letter
5. CONSEQUENCES II Student has one day grace period to turn in late assignments Work turned in after the grace period will result in a point taken off grade, each day it is late If you know that you are not going to be in class, the day before school, let the teacher know so that your assignment will be given to you
6. REWARDS Students will receive gold tickets for class participation The student with the most gold tickets at the end of the week will serve as a teacher assistant the next week Students who maintain good grades will be rewarded with a special treat at the end of the month. After test days, if students maintain good behavior, the teacher will reward a class with a special surprise.
