Oriole has come through a portal from an alternate universe to recruit Ice Arcenciel, a Light Fae teenager, to help in a war against an evil Dark Fae queen. Oriole meets Ice's family and explains the situation, but his father Clark is distrustful. After Ice's grandparents Howlite and Kaelee pass away, Howlite's last words convince Clark to trust Oriole and that the war will spread to their universe, endangering Ice. Clark decides not to expose Ice to danger by agreeing to help Oriole.

The Empty Queen: Chapter 4, Pt. 1
1.
2. Finding allies for this battle is crucial and while evil shores up their defenses, good shall
do the same. The Triad of Power has found its Wielder but his training hasn’t begun
yet. And while Eirene shows Winter how to use the Triad of Power, the Triad itself has
another mission to complete.
3. Oriole: So let me get this straight, Winter, the guy who makes puppies cry when he looks
at them, is our Wielder? How is that a good thing? I thought we were doing this alone?
Diamos: The Triad of Power has always needed a Wielder to be used.
4. Oriole: I don’t like him…he’s creepy and I feel like I’m freezing when he’s near me. Find
someone else.
Diamos: There is no else Oriole, Winter is the Wielder of the Triad. You are going to have
to work with him if we want to win this fight.
5. Oriole: No.
Diamos: Oriole, you can’t refuse to work with the Wielder. That’s not how being a piece
of the Triad works.
Oriole: How can we work with him when YOU don’t even know who he is? Why
should we trust someone that you don’t even know with our lives?
6. Diamos: I didn’t ask to speak to you just to fight about Winter. I have something else for
you to do. It’s important, it’s an ally gathering mission and I need to explain where you’re
going.
Oriole: Fine…but I will not trust Winter, I need more than just being told I have no choice
when it comes to trusting a stranger with my life and that of my siblings.
7. Diamos: We have learned that there are other light fairies out there in the universe, and
as Eirene is currently our only light fairy, we need more help. We’re up against Dark Fae,
and no one understands how a Dark Fae works better than a Light Fae, the one I am
sending you to locate is a Light Fae, and a twin. You are going to an alternate Moonlight
Falls…not the one your family grew up in, another one that is similar.
8. Oriole: What…do you mean an alternate Moonlight Falls?
Diamos: All you need to know is that there are infinite multiple universes out there and I
will give you a key that will allow you to unlock the portal to get to one of these alternate
universes. It is very important we find this Light Fae and ask for their help in this.
9. Oriole: And he said I have to go find this Light Fae in an alternate Moonlight
Falls, not the one our family was from.
Parker: You too huh? Solan told me I have to go find a Light Fae as well.
10. Oriole: What about Nell? Is she going to find someone too? Why us?
Parker: Solan told me that Nell can’t go through the stones alone, something about her
make up being too unstable. She was not happy to find out I had to go and that you were
off too. She hates being left out as you well know, twins and all that.
11. Parker: A recruitment mission? Where? Who am I recruiting?
Solan: It’s a place called Barnacle Bay, it’s in our universe. The ones you’re
going to recruit are a brother and sister, they are Light Fae. We only have
Eirene for the Light Fae and there are four Dark Fae here.
12. Parker: So shouldn’t Eirene go then? I’m not a fairy, I’m a witch. She’d be better
at talking to a fairy than I would.
Solan: Parker, you are going to be the Triad of Hope, so there is no one better
for this than you.
13. Parker: What if they think I’m a lunatic and try to kill me or something?
Solan: The brother and sister you are going to find have an ancestry that is steeped in
darkness and sin, but in the end they came out in the light. Their familial journey has
provided them with the balance of light and dark. We need that here. Magic runs in their
family as well.
14. Parker: An ancestry steeped in darkness and sin? Sounds like they’d be the type that the
Dark Fae would want more than anything else. What makes you think I can convince
them to join us?
Solan: I believe in you. I know you can convince them to help us. You are Hope after all.
15. Parker: What about Nell? She will want to come with me.
Solan: Nell can’t pass through the portal alone. She is too unstable, when all three of you
go through together, it keeps her stable. But you and Oriole are going to different places
this time.
16. Parker: Then you deal with her, once she finds out we’re both gone, she’s going to be
pissed.
Solan: I know, and I will bear that. It’s about time for Oriole to get going through the
stones, the sun is setting.
17. Oriole: I wouldn’t want to be Solan right about now, Nell is going to blow her stack when
she finds out we’re gone.
Parker: You have to go now, I’m going to follow later on, this portal only works at sunrise
and sunset. You’ve got farther to go than I do.
18. Oriole: Be safe little brother, I love you.
Parker: I love you too big sis. Now go, the sun is almost set.
Oriole: Tell Nell I’m sorry I couldn’t say good bye.
Parker: I will. Go!
19. Parker: Good luck Ori. I hope you succeed in this recruitment mission.
Because I don’t know if I will…
20. Oriole: This is insane! This is insane!! It feels like I’m going to drown!!
21. Oriole: So that’s why I heard water, this huge waterfall and pond are the source
of it, and I didn’t drown. I mean…this place looks the same as the Moonlight
Falls I knew but is also feels off too. Let’s see…*checks paper* I’m looking for
someone named Ice Arcenciel, he’s a fairy. Winter and Ice, how ironic.
22. Oriole: I also find it ironic that I’m emerging from a thick fog after just coming
through a magic portal from an alternate universe. I should totally write a book
about this.
23. Oriole: At least my broom still works here, it’s not the Pegasus but I suppose it will do. I
wonder what this Ice Arcenciel is like, is he even a he? Dee wasn’t specific about that.
Also, what if I get arrested or something? These people don’t know me and I just show
up at their door and say, “Hey, can I borrow Ice to take them on a wild trip through
alternate universal portals?” They’d have to be crazy to just say, “Sure you can have
them, no problem…”
24. Oriole: And how am I not crazy for talking to myself? That is usually a sign of
insanity in any universe right? These people are going to kill me I know it, I’m
dead, dead in a world where I don’t exist and no one knows me…that’s
depressing.
25. Oriole: Is this…it? A pink house? Gnome convention on the front patio? Will
they even let me through the gate? *rattles gate* Well it’s not electrified, that’s
good I suppose…
26. Oriole: Oh! They opened the gate! These people are either very trusting or
complete psychos to just let anyone in. I see brooms in the window, maybe
there’s witches here too? Or maybe it’s the way they travel here, although those
futuristic cars I saw parked over there are odd.
27. Oriole: Umm…I’m…uhh.
Howlite: What is it dear? Tell me. We’re not going to bite.
Oriole: I’m Oriole Buckner. I’ve come to see someone named Ice Arcenciel.
28. Howlite: I’m Howlite Arcenciel, the ninth gen heir of this family. Ice Arcenciel is my grandson. What
do you want with him?
Oriole: I’m probably going to sound insane, but we need his help, he’s a Light Fae isn’t he? We have a
problem that requires a Fae to solve.
Howlite: I see. Well my son in law is one of these, Light Fae, you said? Perhaps he can help you. But
you look exhausted dear, perhaps you should rest up and we can talk tomorrow. We have a guest
room you can use if you like. My son in law will want to talk to you as well as my daughter.
29. Clark: My father in law said you wanted to see my son. I will tell you, if you’re here to
hurt him I will punish you with all the power at my disposal in the police department.
Howlite is too trusting sometimes…
Oriole: I’m not here to hurt him I swear. I just need his help as a Light Fae.
Clark: My son is not aware of anything from my realm. What is this about?
30. Oriole: We have a problem with a Dark Fae queen, she is building up to start a war and
we are sorely outnumbered against her. I know it sounds insane, but I swear to you, it’s
the truth. We need Light Fae to help us, from a universe where this Dark Fae queen
hasn’t reached yet.
Clark: What do you mean…universe?
Oriole: I’m not from here, I came through the Stone Troll portal from my universe.
31. Sakura: These bubbles must be getting to me, did you say you came from another
universe?
Oriole: I know, I know I sound insane. But please, I’m telling you the truth. We need help.
Clark: If it really is a Dark Fae queen you’re up against, you really do need help. The
Dark Fae are vile creatures, evil to the core. Why has the king and queen of the Fae not
dealt with her?
32. Howlite: Sorry, the kids came home. What were we talking about?
Oriole: Kids? Ice is a child? Oh…no…Dee I’m going to KILL you when I get back.
Clark: Ice and Snow are teenagers, they are not children. What about your king and queen? Why
haven’t they dealt with the Dark Fae?
Oriole: King Oberon…is dead and Queen Titania, might not have taken it well. Prince Puck is missing
and that’s why we need the help.
33. Clark: You lost your king? And the queen too? How did the prince go missing?
Oriole: It’s a long story, we don’t know if the queen is dead as well but we can’t find her either, and
Prince Puck…well his mother is not Queen Titania…
Clark: The prince is a bastard?! Your Fae Realm is chaotic. Who is ruling it then? I am going to need a
moment here, excuse me.
Sakura: Honey, wait a minute.
Oriole: Did I say something wrong?
34. Oriole: What is in these bubbles?
Howlite: You’ll have to forgive Clark, he’s…sensitive about his realm. He hasn’t even told us about it. My
grandson doesn’t know about it either so I really don’t see how he could help you. He and his twin sister
are very close, they do a lot together. Do you have siblings?
Oriole: I do, five of them. And I ‘m a triplet sibling and I have twin siblings too. I know what it feels like
to be close to the ones you shared a womb with.
35. Oriole: Does Clark hate me now? Should I leave? If Ice is just a teenager, it’s not right to
take him away for this. I’m so sorry for troubling you.
Howlite: No, Clark just needs time to process things. He just found out that alternate
universes exist and that in one, his beloved king is dead. Clark is a good man, I love that
boy with all my heart. He’s good to Sakura.
36. Ice: So gramps tells us you’re from some weirdo alternate world? Is that true?
Snow: You definitely look like some thing from an alternate world, why are
you blue?
37. Oriole: You must be Snow. I thought you’d be a fairy too.
Snow: Nope, mermaid. I love the water. You didn’t answer me, why are you blue?
Oriole: I was born this way. My father is a ghost, from another Moonlight Falls.
38. Ice: Awesome, I know some ghost kids at school. They’re pretty cool.
Snow: Why did you come to see us? Dad never talks about the Fae Realm.
Oriole: I needed help in my universe, but I don’t think your dad is going to help me. I
will be leaving soon enough.
39. Ice: Yeah, dad is like that. He’s distrustful by nature from his job. He’s a cop you know.
Oriole: I do. It was a risk coming here and expecting things to just go smoothly.
Snow: Gramps likes you though, and because he does, grams does too. Mom will do whatever gramps
says, so if he thinks you’re okay, then you’re okay. Dad goes along with whatever mom does so I don’t
think you’ll have to leave.
40. However, things never just happen for no reason. Howlite did ask Oriole to stay a bit
longer, he said he had a good feeling about her. Oriole never expected to be a part of
something so deeply personal to the family she just met, when Kaelee’s time was up, she
was there to see it all happen…
41. Oriole never got the chance to talk to Kaelee much, but she seemed to be just as
welcoming and trusting as her husband was. Oriole knew what the Grim looked like,
she had seen him before. This one didn’t seem to know her which was just fine with
her…
42. Kaelee greeted the Grim like an old friend, shook his bony hand and jumped into her
urn without a fuss. It was like she knew the Grim was going to come for her soon and
she had made peace with it. Oriole couldn’t hold back anymore, she broke down just like
the family did…
43. Ice and Snow really loved their grandmother a lot, hearing them cry broke Oriole’s
heart. She barely knew these people and it already felt like she did. Howlite took it the
hardest, his beloved wife was gone…
44. And like many older couples who have spent most of their lives together, Howlite joined
his beloved Kaelee the next day. This hit Oriole hardest, this warm and kind old man
welcomed her, a total stranger, into his home and invited her to sleep under the same
roof with his family. He didn’t immediately throw her out on her ass when she told him
a wild tale about alternate universes and Fae Realm wars…
45. Oriole didn’t hear the last words Howlite spoke, but from the way Clark’s demeanor changed, it
must have been something really profound and enough to make Clark trust her…
Howlite: Trust in Oriole son, she won’t let you down. She speaks the truth about this war,
all universes will be pulled into it, even ours. Ice and Snow will not be safe here,
especially Ice.
46. Clark: Dad…what do you mean? What are you talking about?!
Sakura: What happened? What did he say? Clark?
Howlite only replied with a gentle smile.
47. Clark: Okay dad…I’ll do what you asked. I promise.
Sakura: Daddy!! Why?! Why didn’t you just wait until I could get here! What
did you say!?
48. **Howlite joins his parents, Hydrangea and Apollo as well as his beloved wife in the
yard. My eighth and ninth generation heirs and spouses are now all I have left from my
Arcenciel Rainbowcy. This Rainbowcy was wrought with glitches right near the end
and I barely made it out of Isla Paradiso with them. I lost all my previous heirs and
spouses. It’s one world that never works right for me.**
49. Oriole: Are you going to have me arrested now?
Clark: No, normally I would have requested a thorough background check on you before
letting you enter my door. But Howlite vouched for you, he said to trust you. He is—was
a great judge of character.
50. Oriole: Is there something else he said?
Clark:…he said I should trust you and believe you. That this thing you’re
talking about in your Fae Realm, won’t stay in your universe, it will breach
here and my son will be in danger. I won’t expose him to danger.
51. Oriole: I see. Thank you for putting me up for this long, I’ll just collect my wand and I’ll
be out of here before morning. I’m sorry to come here like this.
Clark: Now hold on a minute, I didn’t say you had to leave.
Oriole: What?
52. Clark: I said I wouldn’t put my son in danger, that doesn’t mean I’m not going to help
you. You came all this way for it so instead of Ice going back with you, I will. I know
more about the Fae Realm, and in any universe, some things may be constant. I need to
talk to my king and queen and I need to talk to Sakura. She isn’t going to like this. Until
my king and queen arrive and until I’ve talked to my family, you can stay.
Oriole: Are you sure? It’s a lot to ask of someone.
53. Clark: Do you know why I became a cop? I wanted to protect people and help them
when they need it. I didn’t do it for the glory or the uniform or the thrill of the danger
that the job comes with. I’m a Daredevil but I’m not suicidal. How would it look if I
turned you away when you came to us for help?
54. Oriole: Thank you Clark. That means a lot to me to hear.
Clark: You’re welcome.
55. Clark: You found the Magic Mirror didn’t you? My king and queen will be
arriving tonight but you didn’t have to dress up for it.
Oriole: They are royalty, I wanted to make a good impression.
56. Clark: My king, my queen, thank you for the honour of your presence in my
humble home.
Queen Titania: You said it was urgent and a matter of Fae business, what is it?
57. Clark: My queen I have learned of a great threat to the Fae Realm, a Dark Fae
queen has arisen. This young lady beside me is a traveler, she risked a lot to
bring this to us. Her mission here was to look for allies to help fight this Dark
Fae queen. Our realm may be in danger from the Dark Fae.
58. King Oberon: She is not Fae, she is a witch. What does she know of our realm and our
business? We have not received any information about a Dark Fae queen.
Clark: My king…she is not from…this universe. It sounds incredible but I swear on my
life it is true.
59. Clark: My father vouched for her, with his dying words. And we know that the dying
words of a mermaid are never false.
Queen Titania: Indeed they are not. When a mermaid is dying they cannot lie. But why
come here? What are the Fae king and queen in her universe doing about this?
60. Oriole: In my universe, the Dark Fae queen has murdered most of the Light
Fae, she is using the mystical power of Dragon Valley to shore up her defenses
to find and kill the survivors. The Fae king in our universe is dead, and the
queen has vanished, the prince is also missing. We are outnumbered by Dark
Fae.
61. Queen Titania: So you have come here to find more Light Fae, why should I allow my
subjects to go to your universe if they are only going to be killed? Why does your
problem concern us?
Oriole: My queen with all due respect, if you do nothing against this threat then your
subjects will die anyway, this Dark Fae queen has the ability to transcend universal
barriers and she will stop at nothing to eliminate the Light Fae, wherever they may be.
62. Oriole: Even the gods are taking this threat seriously. If I can move between
universes, you can bet so can the other queen once she finds out there’s more
Light Fae here. I won’t demand you give me your people, I would only ask that
you see if any wish to volunteer. If not, I’ll be happy with just Clark and then
I’ll leave.
63. Clark: I am doing this to protect my son, I believe her my queen so that’s why I’ll go
alone if I must.
Queen Titania: Very well, I will ask for volunteers. You have a noble heart Clark, I admire
that.
64. A few days later…
Clark: The king and queen have asked for volunteers, there weren’t any. I’m sorry Oriole,
it’s just me.
Oriole: That’s alright, I’m grateful for you even trying for me.
65. Clark: So this thing is a portal huh? Truth is, I never come up here to fish, I didn’t even
know it was here.
Oriole: Yeah wild isn’t it? The most ordinary looking things hide great power. It only
works at sunset and sunrise though.
66. Clark: Sunset is in three hours, I want to do this tonight. I need to say good bye first so I’ll
meet you later here.
Oriole: Okay, don’t be late, or we’ll have to wait for sunrise.
Clark: I won’t be.
67. Sakura: I don’t like this Clark…but I also know you’ll regret it if you don’t help Oriole, it’s
who you are and it’s why I love you.
Clark: Ever since college I’ve loved you too Sakura. You’re my true love. I will be careful
and I will come back to you and the kids. I promise.
Sakura: You’d better Clark Gant, or I’ll come there myself and drag your fairy ass back
here.
68. Clark: Snow, my Little Mermaid. I have to go away for a bit. I’ll be back I
promise.
Snow: Dad I’m 15 now, I’m not a little kid anymore. Ice is going to be mad
you’re taking away his chance at an adventure of a lifetime like this.
69. Clark: You’re right, you aren’t a little kid anymore. But I’m still your dad no matter how
old you are got it?
Snow: I know…be careful okay? I love you.
Clark: Always. I love you too.
70. Clark: Ice…you know why I’m doing this right?
Ice: Sort of…you never talk about the Fae Realm dad. But I get that it’s important to you
to do this.
Clark: I’m doing this for you, to protect you. And that is the MOST important thing to
me.
71. Ice: Just…come back okay? I don’t need to bear the guilt of being the reason I lose you.
Clark: I’m not going to be lost son, don’t ever think that. I will come back to you all. I
made a promise to your mother, and I will never break a promise to her.
Ice: I love you dad.
72. Clark: I love you too son, take care of your mother and sister, you’re the man
of the house now.
Ice: I will. I promise.
Clark: Good boy.
73.
74. Oriole: Ready? The portal will open soon. I’ll tell you now, it will be jarring,
you’ll feel like you’re drowning and if you don’t hang on to me tight enough
you could end up lost between universes forever.
75. Clark: I’m ready. What is this Dragon Valley like? Records of Sakura’s ancestors from that
era are long gone.
Oriole: You’ll feel the power difference, it’s a lot stronger than here in Moonlight Falls.
Clark: Alright. Let’s go.
76. Clark: What are you doing?
Oriole: Activating my key, once the shadows of the night pass over the
mountain the portal will open. Hang on to me, I don’t want to lose you in
transit.
79. Oriole: For Gods’ sake Clark!! I said don’t let go!! I thought I’d lost you, you son of a
bitch!! Don’t scare me like that!!
Clark: I said I didn’t mean to, I saw this light and went towards it as fast as I could fly
and when I landed, I landed here and had these clothes on. I don’t know what happened.
80. Clark: You were right about the magic here, I can feel how much stronger it is. Whatever
called to me must have been some sort of guide, like a genie. The power felt like one. It
would explain the clothes changing, I think. Genies are mysterious tricksters after all.
Oriole: At least you’re alive, I will have smack Dee for making me do that. You’ll meet
him later.
81. Clark: I’m sorry I scared you. I didn’t mean to.
Oriole: Fine, you’re forgiven. But now that I’ve done my part, there’s someone
else I need to go see, she might not be so forgiving.
82. Oriole: Nell…I—
Penelope: Yes? You what?
Oriole: I’m sorry we left you here and that I didn’t say good bye before going.
83. Oriole: Are you…are you mad at me?
Penelope: You were gone for nearly ten days, and then Parker went away. He’s
not back yet. I didn’t know if you two were alright or not.
84. Oriole: Parker’s not back yet? But he didn’t have to go nearly as far as I did…
Penelope: No he’s not. But you came back, did you at least finish what you went to do?
Oriole: I did. I brought back help. He’s situated in a house nearby here.
85. Oriole: I wonder if Parker’s okay. What does Dee say?
Penelope: Dee doesn’t know either, but we know Parker, he’s strong. He’ll come
back with them and be like “No need to worry about it.”
86. While Parker is away on his mission, Eirene has her own to attend to in the meantime.
Eirene: I’m glad you were here, we have some things to discuss. I need you to
tell me what happened to you and who your godly parent is. It’s important that
we have as much information as we can get.
87. Winter: It must be driving Dalen insane that he doesn’t know something. I like
that idea. He’s a dick.
Eirene: Yes, we know but Dalen is Dalen. I want to know about you.
88. Eirene: Winter, you asked us to help find your brother. You trusted us with
that, all I’m asking is that you keep trusting us and tell us your story. We need
to know.
89. Winter: You want to know my story? Well strap in princess, it’s not a nice tale.
There’s a lot to it but I will tell you this…
Eirene: Yes? Anything you want to share with me I’ll listen to.
90. The air suddenly got colder and Winter began to crackle a bit, Eirene couldn’t help but shiver a bit.
Winter: My mother was a cold hearted murdering bitch who seduced and killed ten men after
birthing their babies! She KILLED King Oberon just because she felt like number eight wasn’t
enough death for her, so I KILLED HER! My father is Anubis, the Egyptian God of the Dead
and I am just like him…a death god. That’s who your NEW Wielder of the Triad is; A KILLER!
