e. The current employees will be compensated at $12.00 – $15.50 per hour. The new full–time
employees will be compensated at $9.00 per and the part–time employee will receive $8.00 per
hour. All full–time employees will receive additional benefits (health insurance, workers
compensation, cafeteria and life insurance.) Wage adjustments are anticipated to be about 4% per
year
Financials
Research indicates that the revenue requirements to add an additional store come to $250,000, which
is largely single time fees associated with opening the store. These costs are financed through owner
personal financing, private investors and loans from the SBA. It should be noted that we expect to
be operating at a loss for the first six months before advertising begins to take effect and draw in
customers.
Buster's will be receiving periodic inflow of cash to cover operating expenses during the upcoming
two years in order to sustain profitability. Most of this funding has been arranged through lending
institutions and private investors. No anticipation of cash flow problems is expected during the next
three years.
Sales Forecasts
Buster's expects a strong rate of growth at the start of operations. Below are the expected financials
over the next three years.

Term Project Assignment : 10 / 14 Essay
Term Project Assignment: 10/14
In the beginning of October, the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Number (ICANN), a
nonprofit created by the Department of Commerce more than 15 years ago, was to be given to the
global community. In other words, the U.S. government has loosened its grip on its authority of
source domains, instead giving the international community more power over the registrars.
Proponents of the handover indicate that the transfer of ICANN is "more of a formality than a real
change of policy" (Baral, Who Controls the Internet?). Opponents disagree, instead suggesting that
authoritarian governments who are members of ICANN can threaten freedom of speech on the
internet. ICANN disagrees with these conservative opponents, stating that no nation will ever
control it, not even the United States.
The internet is the result of the abstraction and commodification of information. The internet was
created to aid information sharing and communication via computers. Its early applications were
untaxed and non–commercial. Platforms such as ARPANET are designed for research and
communication only. Only until the mid–1980s was the internet commercialized. The evolution of
the internet can be compared to the evolution of the Chicago grain elevator and its impact on market
speculation and trade.
The grain elevator of Chicago was the solution of close to one–hundred years of inconvenience ship
transport. Grain was grown on the west Great Lakes region. Farmers

Company on January 22, 2014. The article summarizes decline in Coach 's sales in the last and
initial period of 2013 and 2014 respectively (Kapner & Mason, 2014). It stresses on the fact that the
cause of decline behind Coach 's profit was due to its decision of launching a series of factory
outlets that might overtake the number of its retail outlets present in North America.

Marketing And Advertising : A Small Business Owner
As a small business owner, there are few things as important as your marketing and advertising. Not
only is it the way that people come to even know your business exists, but it is your only line of
defense getting customers to select and be loyal to your business rather than to your competition. So,
needless to say, you want your advertising to be as compelling as it possibly can be. Here, we will
lay out some fundamental principles and standards by which you can create powerful and persuasive
marketing for your business.
1: Remember that customers buy based on emotion.
Take time to get into your customer's shoes. Try to imagine pain, worries, and stress that they may
be experiencing. Try to picture yourself in a situation wherein, if you were the customer, you would
be likely to choose your business over that of your competition, then create your business and your
advertising in such a way as to be appealing to the customer in that situation. Don't focus so much
on the features of your business, focus instead on forming your business with solution–oriented
benefits in mind. Frame your business in such a way as to present yourself to the customer as "The
solution to the problems that cause me pain". If there is a benefit or feature of your business that
would make your customer say "I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I thought it would actually work" then
integrate that into your business, then market it in such a way as to convince them that it will work.
2: Educate your

Through the adoption ofsome sort of the digital approach this can be possible. Such approach
includes the applications ofm–commerce and e–commerce, aimed at the customer.
The potential benefits ofdigital–based strategicapproaches of m–commerce and e–commerce have
not been questioned. Achieving such benefits has a concern among current practicing managers and
scholars alike. The rush to join the e–crowd have made many organizations utilize a me–too
approach to the implementation of m–commerce and e–commerce. These organizations lack the
systematic and integrated strategy needed to realize the potential benefits ofdigital technologies.
These organizations do not have a complete, well–integrated digital strategy. A piecemeal approach,
coupled with me–too orientation will result in anineffective implementation of strategic e–solutions,
such as m–commerce and e–commerce. This leads to investing in attractive technologies without
having well defined strategy to use such technologies strategically. This approach to implement
digital–based technologies, such as m–commerce and e–commerce, is bound to fail, as it lacks the
strategic focus needed to support the customer orientation.
To avoid wasting resources and efforts, organizations must approach the process of implementation

Groupon, Inc. Case Study
Synopsis
Groupon, consisting of a merchant base and a customer base, is a marketing, online deal
marketplace in Chicago, Illinois, was started by a Northwestern University graduate named, Andrew
Mason. Interestingly, his future venture was invoked by his own personal dissatisfaction while
trying to cancel his cell phone service contract. Thinking that the effectiveness of collective
bargaining power could give leverage to the consumer, Mason utilized the 'tipping point' concept
which marks the point where people's behavior has reached a crucial peak and from there, escalates.
Before becoming Groupon, Mason began a web–based platform named ThePoint.com, ... Show

Groupon needs to improve on its relations with merchants. "Merchants wishing to partner with
Groupon and feature their products or services in deals were vetted by the company" (Wheelen,
Hunger, Hoffman, & Bamford, p 11–3). How the partner relationship operates is Groupon negotiates
with the various merchants and suppliers to gain promotion deals advertised to be on Groupon's
website. Groupon sells coupons to customers for a discounted price and also receives a commission
from merchants. The definition of negotiation is: mutual discussion and arrangement of the terms of
a transaction or agreement. If a mutual arrangement cannot be agreed upon or if expectations are too
strict, Groupon may lose its merchant base. Furthermore, if merchants do not view the marketing
efforts to be worth their time, they will go elsewhere. Merchants can become dissatisfied and look
towards the competition that is also offering marketing ideas. Groupon should focus on improving
affiliations with merchants so merchants see Groupon as part of their marketing strategy, which
would allow for Groupon to do some of the work for the merchants. Groupon can survey various
merchants to gather input on what merchants expect – what would work for them or not.
Additionally, Groupon can promote the less selling items the merchants offer and promote those
products and services. An incentive system to attract merchants is another

The Importance Of Happiness In The Work Environment
Happiness in a work environment can aid to increase productivity, decrease the amount of injuries
due to stress and unhappiness, plus it create more jobs because people want to work in that type of
environment. The environment around employees can alter their speed of productivity if it is
unpleasant to them. This issue has gone for many years in many businesses and has been overlooked
by these corporations. Considering that almost 80% of doctor visits because of work are due to
stress. As a business owner, I will need to understand what affects my employees. The business can
be affected by a decrease in productivity due to an unhappy environment. The efficiency of the
business will depend on the environment that surrounds the employees. There is studies that show
that the work environment in a business can affect how well the employees work and can lead to an
increase in the number of jobs at that business. People that are enduring high amounts of
unhappiness and stress are more likely to get injured. Businesses' can fail, because their employees
are not in a enjoyable environment to work and this will lead to a decline in productivity. A decrease
in productivity will lead to a decline in the profit, because less products will lead to less money
coming into the business. Some businesses' want investors to put money into their business, so that
they can grow, but investors do not want to invest in a business that has employees that are not
happy and are not productive

Inventory Management Model In Mobile Commerce
An Inventory Management Model in Mobile Commerce
Introduction
An inventory management system is the management of goods in the industry. The goods consist of
raw material to finished products. Thus an inventory management system controls the entire storage
of material flow in the industry. In this journal, the author focuses on the Inventory management
model in mobile commerce. In earlier days ledger books were used to maintain the inventory
control. Later computers were deployed in this work, which made inventory management much
easier. In this journal, the author uses mobile commerce to manage and check inventory. This
journal is hypothesis driven and does not consider any case study.

a) Choose an industry of your interest and use porters five forces method of analysis to explain why
the industry is attractive to you. Porter applied microeconomic principles to business strategy and
analyzed the strategic requirements of industrial sectors, not just specific companies. The five forces
are competitive factors which determine industry competition and include: suppliers, rivalry within
an industry, substitute products, customers or buyers, and new entrants. The industry of interest here
would be the garbage collection industry. This business opportunity is on the rise in urban areas in
Kenya due to the rapid population growth that has brought about the growth of new residential
estates and apartments. Coupled with this, is the inability of the respective city and town councils to
provide such services like garbage collection. Services such as this have been handed over to the

Industry competitors
The garbage industry has a lot of competition due to the privatization of some firms by local
government to assist in garbage collection. In Kenya it is evident that the local government was over

Abstract
The popularity of m–commerce devices, especially mobile phones among consumers high–lighted a
new source of revenue for businesses. An industry review in mobile commerce found a variety of
current trends and business models that will affect future strategic uses from a project management
perspective. This paper explores m–commerce technology from a business perspective; how it is
similar and differs from e–commerce technically; and tries identifying and exploring potential
strategic uses for this new technology.

US Revenues from m–commerce in 2009 were $1.2 billion(Maher, 2010) and in 2013 it is $25.4
billion and still growing (Brohan 2013), and as consumers become more comfortable with making
purchases with these smartphones, business generated through m–commerce is expected to continue
to grow. To capture some of this revenue, most wireless mobile providers now offer phones with
marketplaces that deliver ringtones, music and customer applications, and major business firms such
as Ebay, Macy's, Scottstrade, and Bank of America have custom applications. These factors make
m–commerce a new and important form of business technology that firms need to strategically
consider.
What is m–commerce? In the past, business typically mass–produced goods and services, selling
them through store, catalogue and phone. In the 90's, the Internet produced a shift to these marketing
strategies; forcing business to reevaluate its own business models and how it communicates its
product and services to customers. This diffusion of commerce through the Internet created e–
commerce, and it unleashed a revolution in buying power. Today, with the rapid production of the
mobile phone market, mobile telephone offers the potential platform for unprecedented penetration
of the Internet and services such as m–commerce. According to Buse and Tiwari (2007) M–

In 2016, e–Marketer estimates that 37.5 million people in the U.S. (19% are smartphone users) will
transact using their phones, by the end of 2016, mobile payments are expected to exceed $27 billion.
Predictions are that by 2017, U.S. mobile commerce will have increased so much in popularity that
it will account for 50% of U.S. total digital commerce revenue (Mobile ecommerce, 2016). The
(DEG) Digital Entertainment Group refers to as "total U.S. home entertainment spending" is up 1%
to just over $18 billion last year, reversing a 1.8% decline registered in 2014. This figure includes a
mixture of revenue streams including sales and rentals of DVDs (Wallenstein, 2016). Competition in
DVD sector includes Netflix and Redbox which allow viewers to rent a movie for a low price. In
2015, streaming music or movies accounted for over $5 billion of the bottom line; so if we pull that
amount from the $18 billion made, then actually there was a decrease for the year. So as you can
clearly see customers are not buying DVD's much anymore, and why should they, when they can
stream them for much less.

This was also indicated in the first study that the composition of the group members' performance

on the group member's position within the group. The concerns of the dynamics and positioning of
certain retailers in the group is further researched in the second study. In the findings, for the second

the retailer held within the group and if that contributed to an increase or a decrease of the
performance of these retailers. The second study uses the Heckit procedure which used the 63
retailers that were active members in the buying groups data by using treatment and control samples.
They used the data estimates from the first study that was obtained by using the probit model. The

on the size of the retailer being a small, average, and large retailer base off the size of a retailer, can

Applying close attention to changes within 'fixed' costs can be crucial and will improve the
performance of management decisions in the future as you have valid data to hand. The pricing in
times like the recession for rent could always be changing and product prices can go up or down
according to competitors within the marketing environment, using invalid information for
predictions on what will happen with the business is suicidal and managing resources and budgets
can cover this problem and in turn improve the companies performance by making accurate
marketing decisions that will benefit the company.
Also, in any recession businesses need to insure their safety by keeping reserves from the cash flow
cycle for emergencies. An emergency could render anything from a downturn in the market to an
offensive attack on your business premises, keeping reservations will help soften the effects of these
situations. Business analysts recommend that reserves should be maintained which will allow the
business to continue for at least three months in the event of an emergency. Also having a high
liquidity figure helps, this is the ability to turn assets or stock into cash to be able to pay bills.
Making reservations and emergency funds will improve performance in the long run in poor
economic times and help see your business through, giving each department a

Mobile Commerce: Boon or Bane?
Mobile commerce: Boon or bane? Mobile commerce, or m–commerce is defined as "any electronic
transaction or information interaction conducted using a mobile device and mobile networks
(wireless or switched public network) that leads to transfer of real or perceived value in exchange
for information, services or goods" (Abbott 2012: What is m–commerce). On one hand, m–
commerce seems to offer the ability for consumers to engage in transactions with greater ease and
convenience. On the other hand, there is great concern that this convenience comes at a high price
and is highly invasive in terms of its impingement upon consumer privacy. "New breed mobile
commerce vendors, eager to send customers targeted ads and marketing offers based on the exact
whereabouts of their cell phones," may tout the value of their services to consumers, but some users
find this frighteningly intrusive in terms of the knowledge that can be accumulated on their
whereabouts (M–commerce vendors attack privacy concerns, 2000, CNN). Despite the benefits of
m–commerce, these serious concerns have not been fully answered [Thesis]. Although Internet
shopping has been popular for many years, m–commerce has unique features that make it attractive
to retailers and consumers. Shopping can take place literally 24–7, with the ease of turning on one's
phone, anytime, anywhere. There is no need to be bound to a computer terminal. Also, a wider
demographic of consumers has mobile phones, versus personal

The Benefits Of Car Buying And Buy A Car
When deciding if it's best to lease or buy a car, there are considerations you should make based on
your personal situation. For example, the monthly payments and whether you drive the car for
business will factor into the process. These questions should help you answer the question of
whether car leasing or car buying is right for you.
How Long Will You Keep the Car?
If you want to trade in for a new car every 2 years, leasing would be the better option for you. You're
essentially paying to rent the vehicle long term before trading it in for another. A car owner who
purchased a car then turned it in within a few years wouldn't get much money for the car since it
would have depreciated significantly. The depreciation for a leased car isn't the concern of the
person who does the leasing. The monthly payments for use of the car have depreciation costs
factored into it.
Are You Rough on Your Vehicles?
A driver who doesn't ding or scratch their car is a driver who should consider a leased car. If you are
constantly finding unexplained scratches or dents, you'll end up paying a lot of money for the repair
of the car. While you might be able to ignore scratches on a car you own, a leasing company will
charge you for those kinds of repairs.
What is Your Available Savings for Fees versus a Down Payment?
The upfront costs for buying a car include the massive down payment, registration and insurance
fees as well as the title costs. You'll also have to make the first payment on

The Scale Of Trade Credit
Trade credit, as defined by (Paul and Boden, 2008) allows customers to delay payments for goods or
services to a supplier for a specified period of time. Alternatively, Laffer (1970) defines trade credit
as "a means through which money is transferred from economic entities possessing idle money
balances to entities in need of additional money balances" (Laffer, 1970, pp. 242). Globally, the
scale of trade credit is significant such that in most developed countries it exceeds short–term bank
credit (Blasio, 2003) and is an important way of financing firms' working capital (Peel and Wilson,
1996; Paul and Boden, 2008).
At least 30% of all credit–based sales in developed and emerging markets are paid outside the
agreed terms, with fewer paid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They did not, however, explain how their results relate to the theoretical literature on the financing
motive for trade credit.
Summers and Wilson (1999), using data from 655 UK firms, investigated the theoretical motivations
for the use of trade credit by firms for purchases. The demand for credit was modelled as a function
of transaction costs motivations, financing motivations, operational considerations, seller
compliance issues, supplier marketing, and environmental issues, while controlling for firm
characteristics such as size and industry. The results suggest that trade credit is generally perceived
as a cheap financing option, giving support for the financing motive. These findings for the UK
environment seem to contrast with Elliehausen & Wolken (1993) who in their study of trade credit
demand in the USA state that sellers that extend trade credit typically offer cash discounts to
encourage early payment.
The most obvious reason as to why customers and indeed businesses use trade credit could be
attributed to the transactional theory. In the absence of trade credit, firms must pay for purchases
upon delivery. Seasonal businesses may demand extended credit terms due to their irregular cash
flows and to achieve balance in their cash conversion cycle (Wilson and Summers, 2002; Paul,
2004). Ferris (1981) when testing the transaction and financing theories

Benefits And Benefits Of Employee Employees
perform each job. While training each employee in each area is time consuming it has many benefits
to the employees and to the business. By allowing employees to rotate though the different jobs in
the restaurant it helps prevent employee burn out in some of the higher stress areas of the business.
The cash register is one of these areas; employees are expected to have a constant outgoing, happy
appearance with customers and having to deal with the never ending calls for takeout increases
stress. On the other hand it allows for increased flexibility and shift coverage for the business owner.
For instance, if one employee calls out sick and that employee were scheduled to be the pizza maker
for that night, it would be relatively easy to shift another worker or call someone in to cover that
position. This increased flexibility takes stress off of the business owner and the employees. The
owner also does a good job at trying to give employees the opportunity for job enlargement; he
allows employees to come up with specialty pizzas not on the menu for the week, and whichever
employee has the bestselling pizza at the end of the month gets some kind of bonus. By allowing
employees to use their creativity it keeps them involved and caring for the business; which in turn
improves the bottom line and efficiency of the company.
The design and structure that an owner uses in structuring their business can also affect how
employees view the business, positive or negative. The

The American Businessman Essay
The American Businessman When you think of your average businessman, the first thought
probably is a tall and slender man, who always wears black suits and is a wall street shark. However,
this is not the case for Eric Merchant. He is a large, jolly man, who always wears tee shirts that
relate to cars and trucks. Every weeknight, after Eric comes home from his job as a business owner,
he starts to work again. He is a day in and day out workaholic, he always has something to do and
time to do it. He elaborates, "I can 't just do nothing, that doesn 't seem practical to me," Eric has
always been a devoted worker for his own personal satisfaction, and for his two children, Maddy
and Masen. Before his business, Merchant Automotive, became his priority in work, he was a
mechanic for a Todd Wenzel dealership. However, he still ran his own small business on the side
while working there. He bought parts from their supply manager and resold them on his own
website. "They knew what I was doing, they just didn't care because I wasn 't competing with them."
His managers hadn't cared because they weren 't selling anything online, and therefore saw no
problem with Eric doing so. Along with that, he would do speciality mechanic work on large diesel
trucks out of his own garage. Eric had tools and knowledge to perform maintenance on specific
vehicles that almost every other mechanic shop could not do. He attracted customers from around

The Advantages of Mobile Commerce Essay
What is M–commerce? The last decade has witnessed a lot of growth of mobile communication
devices and wireless technologies across the globe. This has led to a change in the way many
activities are conducted and opened the way for m–commerce, which is e–commerce's next
evolutionary stage. The significant power of m–commerce is primarily as a result of the ability to
connect wireless devices anytime, anywhere (The Future of Mobile Payment Systems : Rise of the
Mobile Wallet 2012–2017 [Electronic version], 2011). Mobile commerce also known as M–

mobile devices enable them to have access to consumer's preferences, status and location. M–
commerce plays a key role in expanding the audience of a business on a massive scale, especially in
developing countries where most people access the internet on mobile devices because they cannot

Though for most retail companies, sales via mobile devices is still a small fraction of total sales.
When looking at the world as a whole, the potential for m–commerce is astounding. A lot of retailers
are seeing increased sales via mobile devices with a larger percentage of those sales coming from
tablets and less from Smartphones. M–commerce currently accounts for over 11% of all e–
commerce sales and theses figure are still rising. However, one question that needs to be asked, is
whether all businesses will benefit from embracing m–commerce. According to (Akhilesh,

transactions and, within e–commerce there is no one technology that can or should be appropriate to

The Impact Of Mobile Commerce On Grocery And General...
Impact assessment of mobile commerce on grocery and general merchandise retailers Introduction
The advent of iOS and Android and the corresponding increased sale of devices supported by these
mobile operating systems seems to be changing the landscape of the retail industry not only in the
United Kingdom but worldwide. Such rapid changes in technology have opened doors to new start–
ups which create applications or so called apps to leverage the user base of the iOS and Android
platforms and allow the users to surf through a wide variety of products on their mobile phones or
tablets and shop instantaneously. Mobile banking and other new methods of payment seem to have
made shopping through such applications a seamless process. Given such developments, a research
in this regard which is able to quantify the extent of impact of mobile commerce on the grocery and
general merchandise retailers would provide insights into the trend of change as well as assist the
users of this research in deciding the future course of action to remain competitive in this new
world. Research Aim The aim of this research is to provide a historical perspective as well as an
understanding of the changing landscape so that the brick and mortar grocery and general

  • 4. Term Project Assignment : 10 / 14 Essay Term Project Assignment: 10/14 In the beginning of October, the Internet Corporation of Assigned Names and Number (ICANN), a nonprofit created by the Department of Commerce more than 15 years ago, was to be given to the global community. In other words, the U.S. government has loosened its grip on its authority of source domains, instead giving the international community more power over the registrars. Proponents of the handover indicate that the transfer of ICANN is "more of a formality than a real change of policy" (Baral, Who Controls the Internet?). Opponents disagree, instead suggesting that authoritarian governments who are members of ICANN can threaten freedom of speech on the internet. ICANN disagrees with these conservative opponents, stating that no nation will ever control it, not even the United States. The internet is the result of the abstraction and commodification of information. The internet was created to aid information sharing and communication via computers. Its early applications were untaxed and non–commercial. Platforms such as ARPANET are designed for research and communication only. Only until the mid–1980s was the internet commercialized. The evolution of the internet can be compared to the evolution of the Chicago grain elevator and its impact on market speculation and trade. The grain elevator of Chicago was the solution of close to one–hundred years of inconvenience ship transport. Grain was grown on the west Great Lakes region. Farmers ... • 8. Marketing And Advertising : A Small Business Owner As a small business owner, there are few things as important as your marketing and advertising. Not only is it the way that people come to even know your business exists, but it is your only line of defense getting customers to select and be loyal to your business rather than to your competition. So, needless to say, you want your advertising to be as compelling as it possibly can be. Here, we will lay out some fundamental principles and standards by which you can create powerful and persuasive marketing for your business. 1: Remember that customers buy based on emotion. Take time to get into your customer's shoes. Try to imagine pain, worries, and stress that they may be experiencing. Try to picture yourself in a situation wherein, if you were the customer, you would be likely to choose your business over that of your competition, then create your business and your advertising in such a way as to be appealing to the customer in that situation. Don't focus so much on the features of your business, focus instead on forming your business with solution–oriented benefits in mind. Frame your business in such a way as to present yourself to the customer as "The solution to the problems that cause me pain". If there is a benefit or feature of your business that would make your customer say "I'd buy this in a heartbeat if I thought it would actually work" then integrate that into your business, then market it in such a way as to convince them that it will work. 2: Educate your ... Case Study Synopsis Groupon, consisting of a merchant base and a customer base, is a marketing, online deal marketplace in Chicago, Illinois, was started by a Northwestern University graduate named, Andrew Mason. Interestingly, his future venture was invoked by his own personal dissatisfaction while trying to cancel his cell phone service contract. Thinking that the effectiveness of collective bargaining power could give leverage to the consumer, Mason utilized the 'tipping point' concept which marks the point where people's behavior has reached a crucial peak and from there, escalates. "Merchants wishing to partner with Groupon and feature their products or services in deals were vetted by the company" (Wheelen, Hunger, Hoffman, & Bamford, p 11–3). How the partner relationship operates is Groupon negotiates with the various merchants and suppliers to gain promotion deals advertised to be on Groupon's website. Groupon sells coupons to customers for a discounted price and also receives a commission from merchants. The definition of negotiation is: mutual discussion and arrangement of the terms of a transaction or agreement. If a mutual arrangement cannot be agreed upon or if expectations are too strict, Groupon may lose its merchant base. Furthermore, if merchants do not view the marketing efforts to be worth their time, they will go elsewhere. Merchants can become dissatisfied and look towards the competition that is also offering marketing ideas. Groupon should focus on improving affiliations with merchants so merchants see Groupon as part of their marketing strategy, which would allow for Groupon to do some of the work for the merchants. Groupon can survey various merchants to gather input on what merchants expect – what would work for them or not. Additionally, Groupon can promote the less selling items the merchants offer and promote those products and services. An incentive system to attract merchants is another ... Porter applied microeconomic principles to business strategy and analyzed the strategic requirements of industrial sectors, not just specific companies. The five forces are competitive factors which determine industry competition and include: suppliers, rivalry within an industry, substitute products, customers or buyers, and new entrants. The industry of interest here would be the garbage collection industry. This business opportunity is on the rise in urban areas in Kenya due to the rapid population growth that has brought about the growth of new residential estates and apartments. Coupled with this, is the inability of the respective city and town councils to provide such services like garbage collection. Services such as this have been handed over to the private sector. Industry competitors The garbage industry has a lot of competition due to the privatization of some firms by local government to assist in garbage collection. In Kenya it is evident that the local government was over whelmed by the garbage menace to a point Nairobi was no longer known as the city in the sun but as city in the garbage. This in ... US Revenues from m–commerce in 2009 were $1.2 billion(Maher, 2010) and in 2013 it is $25.4 billion and still growing (Brohan 2013), and as consumers become more comfortable with making purchases with these smartphones, business generated through m–commerce is expected to continue to grow. To capture some of this revenue, most wireless mobile providers now offer phones with marketplaces that deliver ringtones, music and customer applications, and major business firms such as Ebay, Macy's, Scottstrade, and Bank of America have custom applications. These factors make m–commerce a new and important form of business technology that firms need to strategically consider. What is m–commerce? In the past, business typically mass–produced goods and services, selling them through store, catalogue and phone. In the 90's, the Internet produced a shift to these marketing strategies; forcing business to reevaluate its own business models and how it communicates its product and services to customers. An emergency could render anything from a downturn in the market to an offensive attack on your business premises, keeping reservations will help soften the effects of these situations. Business analysts recommend that reserves should be maintained which will allow the business to continue for at least three months in the event of an emergency. Mobile commerce, or m–commerce is defined as "any electronic transaction or information interaction conducted using a mobile device and mobile networks (wireless or switched public network) that leads to transfer of real or perceived value in exchange for information, services or goods" (Abbott 2012: What is m–commerce). On one hand, m– commerce seems to offer the ability for consumers to engage in transactions with greater ease and convenience. On the other hand, there is great concern that this convenience comes at a high price and is highly invasive in terms of its impingement upon consumer privacy. "New breed mobile commerce vendors, eager to send customers targeted ads and marketing offers based on the exact whereabouts of their cell phones," may tout the value of their services to consumers, but some users find this frighteningly intrusive in terms of the knowledge that can be accumulated on their whereabouts (M–commerce vendors attack privacy concerns, 2000, CNN). Despite the benefits of m–commerce, these serious concerns have not been fully answered [Thesis]. Although Internet shopping has been popular for many years, m–commerce has unique features that make it attractive to retailers and consumers. • 53. The Benefits Of Car Buying And Buy A Car When deciding if it's best to lease or buy a car, there are considerations you should make based on your personal situation. For example, the monthly payments and whether you drive the car for business will factor into the process. These questions should help you answer the question of whether car leasing or car buying is right for you. How Long Will You Keep the Car? If you want to trade in for a new car every 2 years, leasing would be the better option for you. You're essentially paying to rent the vehicle long term before trading it in for another. A car owner who purchased a car then turned it in within a few years wouldn't get much money for the car since it would have depreciated significantly. The depreciation for a leased car isn't the concern of the person who does the leasing. The monthly payments for use of the car have depreciation costs factored into it. Are You Rough on Your Vehicles? A driver who doesn't ding or scratch their car is a driver who should consider a leased car. If you are constantly finding unexplained scratches or dents, you'll end up paying a lot of money for the repair of the car. While you might be able to ignore scratches on a car you own, a leasing company will charge you for those kinds of repairs. What is Your Available Savings for Fees versus a Down Payment? The upfront costs for buying a car include the massive down payment, registration and insurance fees as well as the title costs. You'll also have to make the first payment on ... Alternatively, Laffer (1970) defines trade credit as "a means through which money is transferred from economic entities possessing idle money balances to entities in need of additional money balances" (Laffer, 1970, pp. 242). Globally, the scale of trade credit is significant such that in most developed countries it exceeds short–term bank credit (Blasio, 2003) and is an important way of financing firms' working capital (Peel and Wilson, 1996; Paul and Boden, 2008). They did not, however, explain how their results relate to the theoretical literature on the financing motive for trade credit. Summers and Wilson (1999), using data from 655 UK firms, investigated the theoretical motivations for the use of trade credit by firms for purchases. The demand for credit was modelled as a function of transaction costs motivations, financing motivations, operational considerations, seller compliance issues, supplier marketing, and environmental issues, while controlling for firm characteristics such as size and industry. The results suggest that trade credit is generally perceived as a cheap financing option, giving support for the financing motive. These findings for the UK environment seem to contrast with Elliehausen & Wolken (1993) who in their study of trade credit demand in the USA state that sellers that extend trade credit typically offer cash discounts to encourage early payment. The most obvious reason as to why customers and indeed businesses use trade credit could be attributed to the transactional theory. In the absence of trade credit, firms must pay for purchases upon delivery. Seasonal businesses may demand extended credit terms due to their irregular cash flows and to achieve balance in their cash conversion cycle (Wilson and Summers, 2002; Paul, 2004). By allowing employees to rotate though the different jobs in the restaurant it helps prevent employee burn out in some of the higher stress areas of the business. The cash register is one of these areas; employees are expected to have a constant outgoing, happy appearance with customers and having to deal with the never ending calls for takeout increases stress. On the other hand it allows for increased flexibility and shift coverage for the business owner. For instance, if one employee calls out sick and that employee were scheduled to be the pizza maker for that night, it would be relatively easy to shift another worker or call someone in to cover that position. This increased flexibility takes stress off of the business owner and the employees. The owner also does a good job at trying to give employees the opportunity for job enlargement; he allows employees to come up with specialty pizzas not on the menu for the week, and whichever employee has the bestselling pizza at the end of the month gets some kind of bonus. By allowing employees to use their creativity it keeps them involved and caring for the business; which in turn improves the bottom line and efficiency of the company. The American Businessman Essay The American Businessman When you think of your average businessman, the first thought probably is a tall and slender man, who always wears black suits and is a wall street shark. However, this is not the case for Eric Merchant. He is a large, jolly man, who always wears tee shirts that relate to cars and trucks. Every weeknight, after Eric comes home from his job as a business owner, he starts to work again. He is a day in and day out workaholic, he always has something to do and time to do it. He elaborates, "I can 't just do nothing, that doesn 't seem practical to me," Eric has always been a devoted worker for his own personal satisfaction, and for his two children, Maddy and Masen. Before his business, Merchant Automotive, became his priority in work, he was a mechanic for a Todd Wenzel dealership. However, he still ran his own small business on the side while working there. He bought parts from their supply manager and resold them on his own website. "They knew what I was doing, they just didn't care because I wasn 't competing with them." His managers hadn't cared because they weren 't selling anything online, and therefore saw no problem with Eric doing so.
