Siddhartha Gautama, known as the Buddha, founded Buddhism in 400 BC after learning how to overcome suffering through his own experiences as a prince in Nepal. He taught others the lessons he learned to help them end the cycle of death and rebirth by putting aside their ego to reach Nirvana and balance in their lives.
