Q 1: How the teacher teaches science?
Answer:
Based on my experience in teaching Preschoolers, I have many things to be
consider especially the individual differences of a child as we know they have
different personality and behaviors. In dealing with them there are barriers that will
encounter during the conversation between the learners and the teachers, so the
teacher should open-minded and understand the social and cultural background of a
child.
Materials and more activities are developmentally appropriate in teaching
science. Exploring, inventing and constructing throughout the day. The teacher must
explain the important of things around us the green environment, the trees, flowers,
plants, important of air in human being and many others that related to science. If
this is my objective identifying the living and non-living things around us I will bring
them outside the classroom and ask what are the things that they can see in their
surroundings, so expecting their answers are trees, flowers, stone, shade house,
plants, man and woman. After that bring them back to the classroom and let them
identify the living and non-living things by showing a picture of it and let them color
the pictures of living things, green, the non-living things, brown in a small group
activity. Lastly let them classify the numbers of living and non-living things in a big
group.
Q3. How music important in teaching science?
Answer:
Everyone loves music because as I know music is inside in each of us,
when we were a womb in our mother we already hear different soft and melody
songs. Sometimes we find ourselves singing or even a little emotion expresses if
we listening music when we are alone.
It is important to teach music to young children because it will enhance
their physical, social, emotional, creativity and cognitively so we need to teach
young children music to help them grow. In my class the day starts with an action
song and a finger play during circle time. Children learn about numbers as they
2. clap their hands and stomp their feet as they sing number songs. Children line up
and walk like a duck or hop like a frog they can think symbolically. Children
create music when they play and improvise movements to match the music. In
working time while the children are working their task, the teacher can play some
music. So the children respond to the music by singing or humming along. They
may also tap the beat of the song using body parts, sticks or other instruments.
When children sing or play music they become better readers, thinkers
and learners. The more discover about how the brain works, the more we
recognize how crucial music is to children’s learning (Meger 1996 as cited by
Cassidy).
Its’ all I can say we need to encourage children to engage and experience
more activities that involve music.
