'Canberra' Sit & Store

2. 1.
Rubber feet fit into the ends
of the aluminium leg frames
to protect any surface the
Sit&Store is placed on.

3. 2.
Aluminium leg frames are
supplied with fixing points
for all other components
attached and threaded.
The leg frames are to be
available in a range of
surface finishes, dull
or bright polished.
The option of wooden leg
frames is also a possibility
but would require some
slightly different fixings.

4. 3.
Plywood side panels
screw onto the legs.
Side panels are to be
available in a range
of surface finishes,
painted as here,
or upholstered.

5. 4.
Veneered side panels
screw onto the legs.
Side panels are to be
available in a range
of surface finishes,
different veneers
or upholstered.

6. 5.
Toughened glass shelves
slot into leg frames, and
are secured with plastic
and/or rubber fittings.
Glass shelves are to be
available in a range of
different tints to suit
upholstery/veneers.

7. 6.
Rigid aluminium base frame
to be supplied preformed,
connects the legs and
creates strong base.

8. 7.
Aluminium or steel runners
for footrest drawer are
fitted to the frame.
The runners will be supplied
matching the legs as here,
or in a painted finish to
match the drawer.

9. 8.
Cushioned/upholstered panels
clip onto the leg frames.
Upholstered panels are to
be available in a range
of leather and fabrics.

10. 9.
Aluminium or steel seat frame is
bolted onto the base frame.
Strong elastic straps are to
be provided pre-fitted to
support the cushion.

11. 10.
Aluminium or steel backrest frame is
bolted onto the base frame.
The two parts of the frame are
joined with bolts to allow
angle adjustment.
Strong elastic straps are to
be provided pre-fitted to
support the cushion.

12. 11.
Bent plywood armrests fit into
slots in leg frames together with
plastic fitting clipped into the leg
to allow backrest adjustment.
Armrests are bolted to the
backrest to allow pivot
when angle adjusted.
Bent plywood armrests to
be available in a range
of surface finishes,
different veneers
or upholstered.

13. 12.
Upholstered foam cushion is
fitted over the seat frame.
Cushion secured in place by
flaps of the upholstery fabric
wrapping around the frame
to be secured out of sight
with zips and/or Velco.
The seat cushion is to be
available in a range of
upholstery options.

14. 13.
Next the footrest drawer is
constructed and fitted.
Bent plywood base to be
available in a range
of surface finishes,
different veneers
or painted.

15. 14.
Plywood sides to drawer
joined with concealed
metal fittings and
screwed to base.
Plywood drawer panels to
be available in a range
of surface finishes,
different veneers
or painted.

16. 15.
Plywood lid to rear part of
drawer to keep out dust
and ensure content not
visible from any angle.
Plywood lid is fitted to drawer
with metal hinge screwed
to lid and drawer box.
Plywood lid to be supplied
in matching finish to
base of drawer.

17. 16.
Drawer secured to runners
with several screws
on each side.
All fixtures and fastenings
are to be of materials and
colours to minimise visual
impact, and concealed
where possible.

18. 17.
Aluminium or steel mounting plate
for footrest fitted to drawer with
pre-assembled hinge and
support mechanism to
secure footrest at
different angles.

19. 18.
Bent plywood front panel
is screwed or clipped
to footrest bracket.
Bent plywood front panel
to be available in a range
of surface finishes,
different veneers
or painted.

20. 19.
Upholstered, plywood backed
foam cushion secured to
bracket with clips
or screws.
The footrest cushion is to
be available in a range of
upholstery options to
match the seat.

21. 20. Finish!
The final stage is to clip the
bent plywood panels to the
rear of the backrest and
the base frame.
The bent plywood back panels
are to be available in a range
of surface finishes, different
veneers or painted.
The Sit&Store is now ready for
use, for relaxing on and for
keeping useful items close
for convenience and comfort.
A stylish space saver, adaptable
through customisation of finishes
to suit any environment, and
simple to build from a kit.
