1. The Power Of Gratitude
We were all children at one point, and as children, most of us completely lacked values and
morals. We thought that everything we wanted should just appear before us, simply because
we wanted it. It didn’t matter how many toys or videogames we had at home, the minute we
entered the toy store, we forget about them upon seeing all of the lovely updated toys. We
picked up whatever we wanted, not fully understanding that everything costs money. Some of
us didn’t even know what ‘money’ meant, how it is acquired or how society places value on it.
None the less, some of our parents bought us most of the things we wanted while others
didn’t.
For those of us that got whatever we wanted, we had to be taught to say “thank you”. And for
the rest of us, we had to be taught why we couldn’t get what we wanted. All of these instances
are meant to instill value into our brain and teach us to be grateful and thankful for what we
already have and what we will get in the future.
As we transitioned from childhood into adulthood, many of these lessons became extremely
clear to us—yet we still find ways to sweep it under the rug. Most of us have learned the value
of money but still manage to never fully express gratitude. This is especially noticeable around
this time of the year when many retailers celebrate the day after Thanksgiving by slashing
prices on various products for Black Friday.
Many forget about the good that they already have almost immediately when they see
discounts on things they don’t have. You shouldn’t let that be you. Always be grateful and
thankful. Each morning I wake up, I see all of the wonderful things that I am blessed to have—
the things that others have to struggle for.
Practice gratitude. Gratitude is one of the most powerful forces we can harness and draw
energy from. Whenever you ‘give thanks’, don’t just do it half-heartedly to the point that your
mind is drifting off. Instead, do it with all of your heart and all of your might. Truly open
yourself up to gratitude and you will feel what freedom is like. Don’t believe me? Try it for
yourself. Take some time to yourself and think about everything you are thankful for. Think
about all of the little things followed by the bigger things. Think about how your life would be
without these things and get a good grasp of this feeling. Take yourself and completely dive into
this feeling of not having those things and remain there for a moment. Then let it dawn upon
your consciousness how lucky and blessed you are to have those things. If you correctly do
this—as in summon the force of gratitude—you will feel a rush of joy and energy run through
your body. This is the correct way to give thanks—not mumbling something short before we
scarf down our meals.
Thanksgiving is a time that is dedicated to giving thanks, but we should still give thanks every
day. Each and every one of us should adopt a lifestyle that utilizes gratitude as its guiding star.
Think of the power of gratitude! Can you imagine what the world would be like if we all lived in
2. gratitude? Well for starters, greed would be abolished. And with greed gone, you can say
goodbye to wars, political corruption, world hunger, etc. I don’t even feel the need to go on
after just listing those three. Shouldn’t that be enough?
Take some time out—not just today, but every day—to manifest the power of gratitude in your
life, you will thank me later!
