Essay on Gangs
When was the last time you were able to turn on the news and not hear about some sort of violent
act? Crime is a growing concern amongst most cities, and street gangs are behind a lot of the
trouble. Street gangs have plagued the streets for centuries and there is no stopping the urge to
commit such hideous crimes. Gangs grow from recruiting young kids but what makes a kid decide
to join a crime filled lifestyle. The gang life contains many negative aspects including the most
notorious reason for violence, drugs. Getting high seems appealing to many students but with the
excitement of getting high comes the responsibility of buying and selling the drugs. The biggest
reason for a gang to start would be drugs. Marijuana might seem like a...show more content...
Kids are always looking for the popularity because they need friends and I don't know anybody
who could live through childhood without any friends. There are other kids who feel like they
don't fit in with society so they become rebels. A rebel is a person who resists or defies an
authority, as kids there are plenty of authorities in your life. It's a known fact that young kids
don't like authority because it doesn't let them live their lives like they want. So what happens
when a kid gets really angry at a principle or teacher, kids can retaliate by rebelling against their
rules. This can be the simple start of a life of crime because the kids will meet others like they are
which will lead them into gang life. There are kids that one might consider a bad crowd, which
are the wrong kids to become friends with. These kids are just beginning to start a life of crime,
although some won't grow up to be gang members others will and they will try there hardest to
take you with them. It's also very hard to stay away from these kids because the can be very
deceivingly friendly and fun to be around but that's just a mask to hide the evil underneath. It's
really sad to see some kids that never fit in become recruited by the bad kids because it will only be
a matter of time before the kid that never fit in soon becomes the kid that sells drugs. There are
many different levels of gang

Violence is a big issue today. Not only is it an issue, but it is global. Many people end up getting
hurt because some people are violent. They are also dying because of violence. It is not that they
are violent it is just that sometimes they get mad and do stupid things. For example, gangs, fights,
shootings, and terrorism. Everyone is affected by this around the world. Everyone is scared about
what happens around the world. The community should be helping each other out instead of hurting
ourselves. People need to act now. People need to get together to address the problem. Get

and kill everyone just because they want to. People should feel safe in the United States. It is the

Not only should the communities get involved, but the government should help out too. Later on
they will see that when everyone helps each other out, it can turn out to a beautiful thing. A lot of
people are stubborn and will object to help out, but when something bad happens to them or their
family they will want to help. It is for all of us, human life. We are just killing and hurting
ourselves. We should be helping each other out instead of hurting and killing ourselves. This
violence needs to be put to an end. It is not healthy. Violence is a big issue. Not only is it a big

help solve this issue if we work together. The positive outcome if my proposed solution works is
that people will stop being violent and killing theirselves and will help each other out. The

Teenage homicides have increased by one hundred and fifty percent, largely due to gang violence.
Gang violence is increasing at a rapid pace in the United States. In today's larger cities, gang
violence is a reality that people have to deal with every day. As gang related crimes increase,
officials are trying to
find out why people join and remain loyal to gangs. Authorities have been trying to find a way to
reduce gang related crime and violence. Federal authorities and local law enforcement also have
combined resources to create task forces and other bodies to investigate and prosecute gang members.
Although authorities are looking to try and find a way to prevent gang violence it does not seem
to be working. More gangs are being started whether in prison or out on the street. More kids are
starting to join gangs as a way to have fun. Reasons kids may be in gangs range from it being that
they are being forced, pressured into it, are joining to have fun, or they were born into the gang.
School gang prevention programs are great and are influencing some kids to stay away from gangs,
while others are deciding that gangs would be more fun than school. Gang violence is increasing

and change the view some kid shave on gangs. While some kids may feel like gangs are dangerous
and they should stay away, others feel like gangs are exhilarating and are somehow drawn to them.
This is a main focus that I would try to pinpoint and something the people who teach about gangs

Causes Of Gang And Gang Violence
Gang and gang violence has always been an ongoing problem within the country. Street gangs have
evolved into some of the most notorious group associated with murders and killings that law
enforcement agencies have encountered. Gang violence has become one of the most serious crime
problem happening in the country that involves physical assaults, drive–by shootings, homicides,
robberies, prostitutions, and home–invasion along with a long list of criminal activities. It had

If the family associates love and respect for each other and themselves and engages in such act then
it may deter them from trying to find it elsewhere. Juveniles engages in gang related activities
because they lack the love and respect or living in abusive homes in which leads to troubled
childhood delinquency. It encourages them to engage in gang to fulfill their emotional needs while
at the same time vulnerable to the temptation of making money, the freedom and respect that comes
with it. There are several positive and successful programs that are put in place in which involves the
help and deterrence of youth from engaging into gangs. Such task of helping out the youth and future
generations takes time and commitment. Possible solutions of getting involved in helping the youth
that are in the gangs to get them off the streets are implementing the same gang model that they
already know in which involves the commitment of one to another as members of a close–knitted
family but without the drugs and violence. With the ideas and belief that they have already known

Gangs are becoming a growing problem in American society. More young people are turning to

Teenagers are joining gangs every day. They join gangs for many reasons.

Many gangs use hand signs (like sign language). Signs are flashed to gang members or to rival

They also have signs to show victory and a primo sign after a fight or gang war.

While gangs grow and get more powerful, what is being done? City police departments play a big
role in stopping violence and drugs. The most popular program for school aged children is the

Youth Gangs, Drugs, & Violence Essay
Gang involvement and its associated violent crime have become a rapidly growing problem for the
United States. Generally, gangs consist of young people of the same ethnic, racial, and economic
background. Usually of a low socio–economic status, these gangs engage in illegal money making
activities and intimidate their neighborhoods and rival gangs with violent crimes and victimization.
Gang members exemplify a high value for group loyalty and sacrifice. Gangs often target youth
when recruiting new members, with the average age of initiation being 13 years old (Omizo,
Omizo, and Honda). A personal interview with police gang specialist, Rob Geis, revealed that the
rapid growth of gangs is resulting in recruitment at shockingly young...show more content...
Power seekers are also drawn to gang life, which tend to commit crimes that victimize others. One
ex–gang member, Lupita explains that she "liked belonging to a gang because people recognized her
power and they respected her" (Bazan, Harris, and Lorentzen 380). Gang members use deceptive
tactics to prey on the youth by promising protection, acceptance, power, and material wealth. Joining
a gang seems to be the best option for disadvantaged youth because it gives them what they are
longing for. However, this comes at a price. Gang involvement negatively affects the quality of life
of the involved youth and surrounding communities. The criminal activities and violence
surrounding gang membership often lead to imprisonment and/or death. Gang involvement
discourages personal upward mobility through the avenue of education; instead, placing importance
on group success. Although non–gang members may also participate in risky activities like binge
drinking, marijuana use, and drug selling, gang affiliation greatly increases exposure and
likelihood to partake in these activities. Studies show that "early alcohol use and early marijuana
use are both identified risk factors for joining a gang among adolescents" (Swahn et. al 354). Youth
gang members are also exposed to hard drugs because of gang involvement in the illegal drug
market. Many youth gang members in these

Essay on Violence
Violence is one of the most problematic issues society faces today, and it has been increasing day
after day, in the streets of our cities. The most common description of what violence really is can be
given as negativity towards something or someone either through physical or verbal actions, which
often causes the victim to suffer pain. The different types of violence that exist in our multi–cultural
society are out–numbered, but the most evident ones are domestic, gang, sexual, and racial violence.
While violence can definitely be reduced, it will never be eliminated due to the nature of humans.

On October 24 2000, a news article headline read, "Gang wars 6 Dead". This event had taken place
in Etobicoke, and the news article contained sentences like "Six victims in six months" and
"calculated executions". It also contained terms like "Bloods" and "Crips". These terms and
sentences have officially crossed the border and have become all too familiar in Canadian cities.
In order to cut back this outlaw behaviour, we need to educate our youth about the ill effects of
gangs, drugs, guns, and should try to persuade them to instead make friends with those who accept
you for who you are and use all their time in doing something positive and proactive. As a result of
reducing and preventing gang violence, many cities have created special task forces and given
schools their own police officers.
Sexual violence is another form of violence that has plagued our cities. This crime involves violence
that is specifically sexual in nature, to which the victim does not give consent. According to 2005
statistics, 51% of all Canadian women have experienced at least one incident of sexual violence. 6
out of 10 victims who reported being sexually violated were under 17. These numbers are alarming
and scary. It is extremely important to get rid of such sinister crimes in our communities because it
robs the victims of their innocence, self–esteem, confidence, and even trust in our society. The

If gang Violence continues the black culture will stay in a negative state and never progress. Gang
violence within the black community should end because it will result to peace and positivity within

Gang violence that has been displayed through media portrays stereotypes that exist in real life to
citizens who live in a underprivileged area. I've observed an individual by the name of Malik

GANG VIOLENCE
Introduction
According to the Criminal Justice of Canada, gangs are defined as "an organized group who plan
and carry out crime for profit, often using violence" (CJC, 2017). Gangs promote their lifestyle to
our youth by glorying their materialistic objects such as expensive cars, jewelry and brand named
clothes. Youth fall for the false illusion and make themselves vulnerable to the hazards ofgang
violence. Many troubled youths crave for a sense of belonging and gangs recruit them into their own.
Gangs vary from committing petty crimes to complicated organized crime. Everyone including
communities and children suffer from the losses of the violence. Conversely, there are some
approaches law enforcement make to reduce gang violence.
Why do Youth join gangs? There are many factors that contribute to youth joining gangs. Children
who are raised in a single–parent household, multiple family/foster home transitions, or come from
low income homes have a higher risk of participating in gang activities (Howell, 2010). Growing up
with a disadvantage these children struggle in school due to poor concentration, attention deficit and
low intelligence (O'Brien, Daffern, Chu & Thomas, 2013). Alongside with education, they also
have behavioral issues of violence and aggression which makes it difficult to get along with fellow
peers (O'Brien, Daffern, Chu & Thomas, 2013). This rejection tends to lead to low self–esteem,
anger, self–harm, drugs and vulnerability. Hence

Nowadays gangs are big issues in America. People who are in gang feel like they belong some
where and people care about them. There are various reasons people join gangs, and almost all age
group between ages 12–40 are involved in gangs. One of the big reasons people join gangs is because
of their needs, protection, and also they want attention from people around them. Gang's should be
taken seriously because today's gangs are more violent and brutal then they were in 60's. Gangs do
more violent act every day and if police don't do anything about gangs then it will be hard to control

and made more then $100 dollars a week. Because of money Luis and his friends joined a gang in
which they made good money illegally and became more violent.
If you live in a neighborhood where there are lots of gangs, then you need to be in a gang or move
to a better neighborhood. If you have gangs in your neighborhood you will need protection from
someone like police or join another gang. If you don't have protection you will get beaten down.
For example, when Luis and his brother Rano went to a store to get some grocery, few gang
members beat Rano up and tried to rob him. So if Luis joins a gang he get protection from his
member friends. Also in a tough neighborhood like Luis's its not hard to join a gang because there
are gangs all over the area and somehow you will end up in a gang just like Luis and his friends.
In addition, violence has increased a lot more then before. Before gangs used to fight with their fist
and knives, but today almost every gang member has a gun. Also there are fights almost every day
between gangs whether you are in school, work, or on the street.
As well, there are many people who lack attention. Attention is a big role in life. For example, to
get more attention from parents, friends, and peers an adolescent joins a gang to get respected.
Gangs do different things to get people's attention. For example, teens who are in gangs try to do

This is noticeable because it not only affects the appearance of the youth but it also affects their

. It is tough for a family of a youth in a gang but it is even tougher for the youth themselves to
acclimate to. Therefore as portrayed, it can be really overwhelming for both a youth and their
family when their child decides to join a gang. Gangs put society in an unsafe state filled with
destruction. Lee states that "A twenty one year old man was stabbed to death by several gang
members" (2). This is just a portion of the massive deterioration caused by a gang. Gangs tend to do
things that are even more severe, especially youth gangs. Hagdorn justifies this by stating "youth
gangs destroy society both mentally and physically". (8) They destroy society physically by hurting
people and killing innocent people. The mental obliteration takes a more sophisticated method. They
use stereotypical comments that portray prejudice conceptions which pertain to mainly ethnic
groups and different racial groups. Cohan mentions that "the number of street gang killings has risen

Gang members may feel that gangs are merely a family and other see them as violent people with
no direction that need to be locked away. Gangs cause fear to those that live around them, but to
children that have no support system gangs appear to be a surrogate family. Gangs are not all about
friends committing crime, but to a gang member a way of life. Gangs that are a threat to society is a

children, and changing the nature of the gang.
A gang can be defined as a group of people who join together with the same interest of committing
crime and violence. Every gang is not the same and the crimes they commit are different. The
crimes can be robbery, drug tracking, murder, guns to name a few. This is why some kids join the

Large communities, with a population larger then 50,000 are at the greatest risk of significant gang
activity, and community members face with high fears that gangs will take over with their families,

gang activity are disproportionately affected by theft, negative economic, impact, vandalism, assault,
gun violence, illegal drugs trade, and homicide. Also leads to increased likelihood of Economic
hardship and family problems in adult, which in turn, contribute to involvement in street crime and

Gang Violence Youth violence is a problem among young teens because it causes a division,
which unfortunately result into gangs. Moreover in the past, gang violence results into youth
crimes such as robbery, and drug sales. In this new generation, the youth resort in selling
marijuana and heroin, even more than crack cocaine now, this means where the drugs are is
where the gangs are, also the weapons to protect to their territory. While writing his article
Michael Blanding quotes a young man of 16 years of old named Sharodeny Finch, who said,
"People get tired of wearing the same damn jeans". This young man was referring to the fact that
he gets tired of the gangs, and tries to do the right thing by finding an actual job. But when he got
turned down his response was, " You try to do the right thing, find a job to earn money, and you
can't. You got a block right here, you know what I'm saying?" Basically Finch is explaining that,
sometimes young people will try to escape the gang life, but when they try and do not get what
they intended for, they go back to the gangs. This overall shows in order for the youth not to resort
back to the gangs, they have to be dealt with in the proper format. Gang violence does not have
broaders, however in the urban areas of Boston it tends to receive the most attention. This problem
causes emotional stress, group tensions in communities, and many other troubles. This issue tends to
thrive in communities that already have drug addictions, and low property rates. Moreover, gang
violence influences these other issues to worsen over time. Therefore, youth violence should be a
priority to resolve for it causes and affects many other issues in Boston. Gang violence affects many
people, but it targets certain ethnic groups. The majority of gangs nationwide have a percentage of
47% Hispanics and 31% African Americans. Moreover since 2009 the majority of gangs consist of
males, and 37% of them are under the age of 18. Also it has been estimated that in Boston 66% of
youth homicides can be connected with gang violence. Since the 1980s through 1990s youth
violence increased tremendously. Many homicides were happening throughout this time, which
connects back with the gang

Essay On Gang Violence

  • 1. Essay on Gangs When was the last time you were able to turn on the news and not hear about some sort of violent act? Crime is a growing concern amongst most cities, and street gangs are behind a lot of the trouble. Street gangs have plagued the streets for centuries and there is no stopping the urge to commit such hideous crimes. Gangs grow from recruiting young kids but what makes a kid decide to join a crime filled lifestyle. The gang life contains many negative aspects including the most notorious reason for violence, drugs. Getting high seems appealing to many students but with the excitement of getting high comes the responsibility of buying and selling the drugs. The biggest reason for a gang to start would be drugs. Marijuana might seem like a...show more content... Kids are always looking for the popularity because they need friends and I don't know anybody who could live through childhood without any friends. There are other kids who feel like they don't fit in with society so they become rebels. A rebel is a person who resists or defies an authority, as kids there are plenty of authorities in your life. It's a known fact that young kids don't like authority because it doesn't let them live their lives like they want. So what happens when a kid gets really angry at a principle or teacher, kids can retaliate by rebelling against their rules. This can be the simple start of a life of crime because the kids will meet others like they are which will lead them into gang life. There are kids that one might consider a bad crowd, which are the wrong kids to become friends with. These kids are just beginning to start a life of crime, although some won't grow up to be gang members others will and they will try there hardest to take you with them. It's also very hard to stay away from these kids because the can be very deceivingly friendly and fun to be around but that's just a mask to hide the evil underneath. It's really sad to see some kids that never fit in become recruited by the bad kids because it will only be a matter of time before the kid that never fit in soon becomes the kid that sells drugs. There are many different levels of gang Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Gang Violence Agustin Rocha Violence is a big issue today. Not only is it an issue, but it is global. Many people end up getting hurt because some people are violent. They are also dying because of violence. It is not that they are violent it is just that sometimes they get mad and do stupid things. For example, gangs, fights, shootings, and terrorism. Everyone is affected by this around the world. Everyone is scared about what happens around the world. The community should be helping each other out instead of hurting ourselves. People need to act now. People need to get together to address the problem. Get neighborhood watch parties to take care of the issues around their community. Create programs to help gang members stop the violence among them. People might have...show more content... It is not even safe anymore to go out because people are afraid a lunatic will come out and shoot and kill everyone just because they want to. People should feel safe in the United States. It is the greatest country in the world. Not only in the United States, but everywhere around the globe. Not only should the communities get involved, but the government should help out too. Later on they will see that when everyone helps each other out, it can turn out to a beautiful thing. A lot of people are stubborn and will object to help out, but when something bad happens to them or their family they will want to help. It is for all of us, human life. We are just killing and hurting ourselves. We should be helping each other out instead of hurting and killing ourselves. This violence needs to be put to an end. It is not healthy. Violence is a big issue. Not only is it a big problem, but a global one. It is important because people are dying or getting hurt and we all can help solve this issue if we work together. The positive outcome if my proposed solution works is that people will stop being violent and killing theirselves and will help each other out. The community and people around it will feel Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 3. Essay On Gang Violence Teenage homicides have increased by one hundred and fifty percent, largely due to gang violence. Gang violence is increasing at a rapid pace in the United States. In today's larger cities, gang violence is a reality that people have to deal with every day. As gang related crimes increase, officials are trying to find out why people join and remain loyal to gangs. Authorities have been trying to find a way to reduce gang related crime and violence. Federal authorities and local law enforcement also have combined resources to create task forces and other bodies to investigate and prosecute gang members. Although authorities are looking to try and find a way to prevent gang violence it does not seem to be working. More gangs are being started whether in prison or out on the street. More kids are starting to join gangs as a way to have fun. Reasons kids may be in gangs range from it being that they are being forced, pressured into it, are joining to have fun, or they were born into the gang. School gang prevention programs are great and are influencing some kids to stay away from gangs, while others are deciding that gangs would be more fun than school. Gang violence is increasing extremely fast and there is something that needs to be done....show more content... Most kids don't like to just sit around in a classroom or auditorium learning about why it's wrong to join gang. I would probably let them be able to move around, do activities watch a movie about inmates saying what gangs did to them whether it helped or not. Most importantly they should try and change the view some kid shave on gangs. While some kids may feel like gangs are dangerous and they should stay away, others feel like gangs are exhilarating and are somehow drawn to them. This is a main focus that I would try to pinpoint and something the people who teach about gangs should try to Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Street gangs have evolved into some of the most notorious group associated with murders and killings that law enforcement agencies have encountered. Gang violence has become one of the most serious crime problem happening in the country that involves physical assaults, drive–by shootings, homicides, robberies, prostitutions, and home–invasion along with a long list of criminal activities. Juveniles engages in gang related activities because they lack the love and respect or living in abusive homes in which leads to troubled childhood delinquency. It encourages them to engage in gang to fulfill their emotional needs while at the same time vulnerable to the temptation of making money, the freedom and respect that comes with it. There are several positive and successful programs that are put in place in which involves the help and deterrence of youth from engaging into gangs. Such task of helping out the youth and future generations takes time and commitment. Possible solutions of getting involved in helping the youth that are in the gangs to get them off the streets are implementing the same gang model that they already know in which involves the commitment of one to another as members of a close–knitted family but without the drugs and violence. With the ideas and belief that they have already known would be easier to implement and develop programs that they are familiar to. Such programs should instill the same love, respect, and belonging as one would receive when joined a gang; therefore, it gives them another option of committing themselves in a positive way as a model citizen. When youths join gangs they drop social activities with family, friends and school. Members fall behind their classmates in school and do not try. City police departments play a big role in stopping violence and drugs. The most popular program for school aged children is the D.A.R.E. (Drug Abuse Resistance Education). • 7. Youth Gangs, Drugs, & Violence Essay Gang involvement and its associated violent crime have become a rapidly growing problem for the United States. Generally, gangs consist of young people of the same ethnic, racial, and economic background. Usually of a low socio–economic status, these gangs engage in illegal money making activities and intimidate their neighborhoods and rival gangs with violent crimes and victimization. Gang members exemplify a high value for group loyalty and sacrifice. Gangs often target youth when recruiting new members, with the average age of initiation being 13 years old (Omizo, Omizo, and Honda). A personal interview with police gang specialist, Rob Geis, revealed that the rapid growth of gangs is resulting in recruitment at shockingly young...show more content... Power seekers are also drawn to gang life, which tend to commit crimes that victimize others. One ex–gang member, Lupita explains that she "liked belonging to a gang because people recognized her power and they respected her" (Bazan, Harris, and Lorentzen 380). Gang members use deceptive tactics to prey on the youth by promising protection, acceptance, power, and material wealth. Joining a gang seems to be the best option for disadvantaged youth because it gives them what they are longing for. However, this comes at a price. Gang involvement negatively affects the quality of life of the involved youth and surrounding communities. The criminal activities and violence surrounding gang membership often lead to imprisonment and/or death. Gang involvement discourages personal upward mobility through the avenue of education; instead, placing importance on group success. Although non–gang members may also participate in risky activities like binge drinking, marijuana use, and drug selling, gang affiliation greatly increases exposure and likelihood to partake in these activities. Studies show that "early alcohol use and early marijuana use are both identified risk factors for joining a gang among adolescents" (Swahn et. al 354). Youth gang members are also exposed to hard drugs because of gang involvement in the illegal drug market. Many youth gang members in these Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 8. Essay on Violence Violence is one of the most problematic issues society faces today, and it has been increasing day after day, in the streets of our cities. The most common description of what violence really is can be given as negativity towards something or someone either through physical or verbal actions, which often causes the victim to suffer pain. The different types of violence that exist in our multi–cultural society are out–numbered, but the most evident ones are domestic, gang, sexual, and racial violence. While violence can definitely be reduced, it will never be eliminated due to the nature of humans. Domestic violence, also known as spousal abuse, occurs when a person in an intimate relationship or marriage tries to dominate and control...show more content... On October 24 2000, a news article headline read, "Gang wars 6 Dead". This event had taken place in Etobicoke, and the news article contained sentences like "Six victims in six months" and "calculated executions". It also contained terms like "Bloods" and "Crips". These terms and sentences have officially crossed the border and have become all too familiar in Canadian cities. In order to cut back this outlaw behaviour, we need to educate our youth about the ill effects of gangs, drugs, guns, and should try to persuade them to instead make friends with those who accept you for who you are and use all their time in doing something positive and proactive. As a result of reducing and preventing gang violence, many cities have created special task forces and given schools their own police officers. Sexual violence is another form of violence that has plagued our cities. This crime involves violence that is specifically sexual in nature, to which the victim does not give consent. According to 2005 statistics, 51% of all Canadian women have experienced at least one incident of sexual violence. 6 out of 10 victims who reported being sexually violated were under 17. These numbers are alarming and scary. It is extremely important to get rid of such sinister crimes in our communities because it robs the victims of their innocence, self–esteem, confidence, and even trust in our society. • 9. Persuasive Speech On Anti-Gang Violence I know you join me in offering heartfelt sympathy to colleagues across the nation as well as locally whose schools have been struck by violence. School must be safe havens that provide healthy, nurturing learning environments. Boushall students are becoming increasingly violent, so much so that many of the students are fearful. Last school year, we encountered several negative news media coverage concerning fights at our school that garnered the attention of the students, staff and administrators. This behavior will not be tolerated moving forward. One way we can respond to these recent tragedies is by implementing a school–wide effort in not allowing an infection to spread. The movement to adopt anti‐gang policies reflects schools' appreciation...show more content... This behavior fosters a climate of fear and disrespect that can seriously impair the physical and psychological health of its victims and create conditions that negatively affect learning, thereby undermining the ability of students to achieve their full potential. The goal is to make it clear to students that gang behavior in any form will not be tolerated at school in order to ensure the safety of all students during the school day. As former President Obama noted in his second inaugural address, "Our journey is not complete until all our children from the streets of Detroit to the hills of Appalachia, to the quiet lanes of Newtown, know that they are cared for and cherished and always safe from harm." I thank you for the tireless work you do in educating our students and efforts to eliminate the epidemic that is spreading throughout our community and school. As gangs grow stronger in numbers, so do we, and we're winning–hands down. I look forward to working together with you to ensure equal access to education, and to promote a safe and respectful school climate for Boushall students. • 10. The Importance Of Gang Violence If gang Violence continues the black culture will stay in a negative state and never progress. Gang violence within the black community should end because it will result to peace and positivity within the community. The result of brining and end to gang violence will also save lives and bring together the culture as one. If the gang violence continues and does not come to a stop the black community will never progress. Gang violence that has been displayed through media portrays stereotypes that exist in real life to citizens who live in a underprivileged area. I've observed an individual by the name of Malik Spellman who is the Los Angeles gang mediator who coordinates peace treaties between rival gangs in the Los Angeles County area. Malik Spellman is the peacemaker who plays the role of keeping tempers down amongst rival gangs to prevent violence and death on the tv show called "L.A Gang Wars The Peacemaker". Mr. Spellman is very involved within the black community and has a personal relationship with gang members within the Los Angeles gang culture. In the episodes of the tv show he demonstrates a purposeful mediation tactics by trying to diffuse conflicts among two gangs who may have beef between one another. Malik Spellman's positive intentions involve bringing together two gangs for a mediation to negotiate peace treaty terms pertaining to past and or present conflicts in the gang community. Gang Violence Essay GANG VIOLENCE Introduction According to the Criminal Justice of Canada, gangs are defined as "an organized group who plan and carry out crime for profit, often using violence" (CJC, 2017). Gangs promote their lifestyle to our youth by glorying their materialistic objects such as expensive cars, jewelry and brand named clothes. Youth fall for the false illusion and make themselves vulnerable to the hazards ofgang violence. Many troubled youths crave for a sense of belonging and gangs recruit them into their own. Conversely, there are some approaches law enforcement make to reduce gang violence. Why do Youth join gangs? There are many factors that contribute to youth joining gangs. Alongside with education, they also have behavioral issues of violence and aggression which makes it difficult to get along with fellow peers (O'Brien, Daffern, Chu & Thomas, 2013).
