Cant Feel My Face Meaning
Can't Feel My Face is the most heard song on the radio at the moment, according to Billboard. The
Weeknd's upbeat song is heard all across the nation. Here in Orange County, every time you turn the
radio on, the song is played on one or almost every radio channel you turn to. With technology
advances now and with iTunes Radio, this song plays on channels there as well. We sing along to
this song and we do not realize it at times. When hearing this song at first, you'd think it was about a
toxic relationship between two lovers. But if you truly listen to the song and focus, the true meaning
behind the lyrics is the love addiction for Cocaine not a toxic relationship between two people.
At the beginning of the song, "And I know she'll be the death ... Show more content on

Your first thought is the love between the couple is toxic and lethal yet, he cannot resist his partner.
But, really it is a reference to Cocaine. Cocaine is given a female voice. He uses personification by
bringing the drug to life, where it can communicate with him and become part of his life. He knows
that this "girl" meaning, Cocaine is going to be the death of him. While in use of Cocaine he gets
numb. "But at least we'll both be beautiful and stay forever young/ This I know, (yeah) this I know"
(3–4). You say again, that he is singing about how the love is so very satisfying. But he is actually
meaning that his desire for this young and beautiful woman makes him feel good. He feels as if he is
invincible when he has her. Even though he seems to be aware of the consequences that come with
feeling young and beautiful; with the use of Cocaine. "She told me, 'Don't worry about it.'/ She told
me, 'Don't worry no more.'/ We both knew we can't go without it/ She told me you'll

Zahrah The Windseeker And You CanT Touch My Hair Analysis
Nnedi Okorafor–Mbachu and Phoebe Robinson, through their respective books Zahrah the
Windseeker and You Can't Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have to Explain, eloquently
tackle the ways their characters recognize and overcome the fear of the unknown through word
choice and character development. In her book, Zahrah the Windseeker, Nnedi Okorafor–Mbachu
does not waste any time and explicitly states in the preface that it is "a general fear of the unknown
that plagues the entire society of the Ooni Kingdom" (Okorafor). Okorafor's use of the word
"plague" utilizes the negative connotation with this fear and indicates that future characters have to
overcome this "plague." Referring to "the entire society," Okorafor also includes ... Show more

Due to the fact being dada is so rare and no one else from her hometown is dada, the townspeople
fear Zahrah because they do not know or understand what it means to be dada and what separates
them from normal people. As a part of the bullying, people call Zahrah names like: '"Vine head,"
"snake lady," "swamp witch," and "freak"' (Okorafor 3). Despite initially believing the vicious
nicknames and allowing those words to define her, Zahrah overcomes her submission to society's
perception of her and embraces her hair, as well as her other dada qualities. In the end, after
completing her quest and saving her best friend, Zahrah stands before a mirror and studies herself:
"I look at myself in the mirror, my dark brown skin, my dada hair... I looked into my own eyes and
smiled when I saw the new glint in them" (Okorafor 277). A "new glint" in her eyes represents a
new perspective of herself; a perspective that is not defined by society's fear of her. For Zahrah, it
took going on an incredibly dangerous and nearly–impossible mission in order to accept herself and
to shake people's fear of the unknown. She now has confidence in herself and believes in herself.
Similarly, Robinson deals with this same issue of facing other the fear of the unknown, however she
deals with the problem in a more realistic manner. Phoebe Robinson deals with white people's fear
of her natural hair. As mentioned earlier, Robinson clearly recognizes this fear, and writes in her
book, " when something

Summary Of Quotes From 'Cant You Stop Cleaning'
Quote 1:
"Before the flooding, Rodney was always on my case. Why don't I clean more? I mean, his view
was, once I quit working, the house should be immaculate. And for me, I never wanted to be a
housewife ever. So, Okay, Ill do a little cleaning. Ill do a little housewife stuff, and I'll do stuff with
cooking. So before the flood, he was like "Cant we get this place a little cleaner?" And ever since
the flood, IM downstairs cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and he's been on my case: 'Cant you stop
Cleaning.'" When I was reading this quote at first I would agree with Rodney I do not like a dirty
house myself, but I do think he should have helped her out with some of the cleaning himself when
he got off of work. But then again, I can see him coming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Some of the families had a lot of tension and got mad at each other because they felt that the other
did not do enough to prepare for the flood. Most of the husbands and wives fought over nothing
substantial, just a lot fussing to fuss and some of the time this led to divorce. Divorce and
separations are common among people facing financial and emotional strain. Most of the women
were very emotional after the flood because they felt as if they had lost all of what they had worked
so hard to get so they turned their anger to their husbands. For example Diana, she took a lot of her
frustration out on her husband because she thought that he did not do much to help them out to
prevent their home from some of the damage before the flood. There were a lot of emotions fighting
after the flood while the men felt that they had to be the strong ones, but they still had the sadness in
their hearts because they blamed themselves because they looked at themselves as the protectors of
their families. Some of the couples turned to divorce because they felt it was the right time, they had
nothing to fight about because everything they had together was taken away by the flood while
some of the couples stayed together and fought it out. Many couples wanted to attempt to remain
together because of their children. But all after the flood

You Cant Cross The Sea Merely By Standing And Staring At...
When Rabindranath Tagore states "You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the
water," he is suggesting that you can't achieve your life goals just by thinking and hoping about
them. You actually have to work very hard and try to achieve that goal. The author is claiming that
you actually need to work for your goals. For example the Everest climbers had a lot to risk and a
lot to lose but they still climbed the mountain anyway because they knew that they wouldn't get to
the top of that mountain just from hoping they would get carried up there.
This quote relates to extreme sports because if you want to do an extreme sport really badly like
going wingsuit flying you can't just look at the helicopter take off to drop the people. You actually
have to want to jump out of that helicopter and take the risk yourself. As we see in the in the article,
"A Solemn Warning to Wingsuit Flyers", that a man named Geoffrey Robson died due to wingsuit
flying. But that man new the risks of the sport and he took it anyway, because he didn't want to be
the one that stares at the ocean hoping he crossed it. He wanted to be the one who crossed it before
the other guy got there to stare at it even if it meant he was risking his life to do so. ... Show more

also had personal experience with this quote. I used to want to have good grades and i never tried

Analysis Of 'Why Millennials CanT Grow Up'
The Millennial Generation is earning 20 percent less than the Generation X and the Baby Boomers.
Psychotherapist at NYU (according to the university's website), Brooke Donatone argues in her
article, "Why Millennials Can't Grow Up" that millennials experience "extended adolescence that
delays adulthood" (Donatone 1). The author believes that the reasons for that happening are parents
by their helicopter parenting and the economy because there are less high paying jobs that allow
millennials to be financially independent. Throughout the article, Donatone explains that there is
evidence on how it is not millennials' fault that they are experiencing delayed adulthood. Therefore,
it is safe to assume that her intended audience are the parents ... Show more content on

His article also contrasts Donatone's second flaw of unprofessional tone because he continuously
stays professional and mindful of his audience that comes from world of business professionals.
Donatone proposes that the reason for millennials' struggles with adulthood, like working, dealing
with people or even doing laundry is caused by helicopter parenting; however, she uses Amy, a girl
that comes from a family with moderate wealth, to wrongly generalize that all millennials come
from similar background. It is especially inappropriate and unfair to generalize about this topic
because she talks about such a big and diverse group that is millennial generation, and not everyone
comes from the same background. Donatone shows that Amy comes from middle class family when
she says "She finally had to dump the part–time job, was still unable to do laundry, and often stayed
up until 2 a.m. to complete her homework because she didn't know how to manage her time without
her parents ..." (Donatone 1)." In order for someone to be able to drop their job they need someone
that can help with their financial needs and wants, therefore it is safe to assume that Amy comes
from a family with moderate wealth that is able to support those needs and wants. The author's
moment when she generalizes that all millennials are like Amy and come from similar background
is when she states "It's easy to generalize an entire population by its

Cant Stop Won T Stop Sociology
I believe that Can't Stop, Won't Stop, Wild Style, Egyptian Lover, Finding the funk, and Breakin' n'
Enterin' speak to each other in helping narrate hip hop's origin mythologies. Each of these represent
different sectors of the black community and how it all intertwines. Breaking down each element it
will be easy to see how each goes hand in hand with each other.
Can't Stop, Won't Stop is an element that gives a lot of information from different areas. This
provides a highlight on some of the most important people of the time, Fab Five Freddy. The
background is shown to be described with a Jamaican element. Gangs of the Bronx had their own
contribution. This was the beginnings of DJ Kool Herc and brought up street parties. Graffiti
became popular in 1965 which made a connection to hip. Hip Hop was seen as a part of the culture.

Throughout the movie you are able to see the elements of hip hop all throughout the movie for
example there was graffiti in the background. It was easy to see the different factors that are brought
out in hip hop. During the music scenes you can hear the rapping in the music scenes. Egyptian
Lover definitely brought out a different element out of the other four sectors. The reasoning of the
name "Egyptian Lover" was to show and let women know he was a lover and not a fighter. Hip Hop
was seen as an aggressive genre where people viewed it as being very violent. You are able to see
how he interacted with the music to create a song. He was able to bring out Cold Crush Brothers,
the Zulu Nation.
Finding the funk outlined how funk influenced hip hop in a very immediate way. Funk was an
element that was highlighted within hip hop. Many people argued that funk was the beginning of
hip hop. James Brown helped to promote black music in general and he was known as the King of
Funk. Hip Hop didn't exist when dance started, that all dealt with

Why We Cant Wait Rhetorical Questions
In 1861 America had a civil war in order to free African Americans from slavery. Thirty five years
later, the Supreme Court case Plessy vs. Furgeson ruled "separate but equal." However, in the
1960's, the races were separate but far from equal. In Martin Luther King Jr.'s book "Why We Cant
Wait" he uses rhetorical questions, pathos, and diction of the word freedom in order to persuade
people to make a change in the way African Americans were being treated. First, king uses
rhetorical questions in order to get people to think about the way Africans Americans were being
treated. He uses the example of two young children asking, "Why does misery constantly haunt the
Negro?" How bad do things need to be for this question to cross a young child's mind? This
question is asked by children in order to make people think of how badly Africans are being treated,
and persuade them to make a change. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

You Cant Say That John Stuart Mill Summary
You Cant Say That: An analysis of Mills and The Justness of Censorship John Stuart Mill's On
liberty is credited with being one of the most influential pieces of political theory ever written. His
writings and societal observations on liberty, freedom of expression, and the limit of authority in a
free society. Some of Mill's most interesting claims were regarding freedom of speech for all
opinions, a topic very relevant in the incredibly polarized American system. Mills views are even
extended to protect what is considered hate speech which raises interesting societal questions. John
Stuart Mill argues that it is never right for a government to censor free speech. Yet we do punish
hate speech and have rules against derogatory or biased speech. ... Show more content on

Mills of course does not just mean amiable discussions regarding similar opinions but focuses on
the importance of protecting dissenting viewpoints. Mill claims that "opinion is compelled to
silence, that opinion may, for aught we can certainly know, be true. To deny this is to assume our
own infallibility" (Mills, 88). This is is to protect against what Mill calls social tyranny of the
majority. Social Tyranny of the majority is when the majority viewpoint dominants what happens in
a society and silences or ignores any other minority opinion or idea (Mill). This silencing of
discussion can lead to the stagnation of society as the flow of civilization follows the majority rule
and is not advanced through the development and understanding of dissenting viewpoints. Mill
recognizes that truth is a fluid topic, with every person developing their own truths based off lived
experience and what is important to them, not one person can claim to know the whole truth. Just
because the majority views the truth one way, does not mean the minority is wrong and should not
be treated as such. Censoring of these viewpoints does not make the majority any more correct, it
just closes down a way to view something differently which may improve the majority

Dr. Martin Luther King’s Why We Cant Wait Essay
Dr. Martin Luther King's Why We Cant Wait While reading Dr. King's novel, I was able to get an
uncensored idea of what African Americans went through in their struggle for civil rights. I cannot
comprehend the extent to which they suffered while protesting, and it would be ignorant of me to
think that I could understand. The many people who fought with Martin Luther King, Jr. for civil
rights understand something about this country that I am only beginning to discover. I can only hope
this shameful part of our history is never repeated.
I felt a sense of disgust and shame while reading about the events of the Civil Rights struggle in
Birmingham, Alabama. I have always heard that they would used dogs and water hoses to push ...

How could people think that this kind of oppression was tolerable and that the blacks did not have a
right and freedom to protest?
Part of me wanted to be there to help make a difference and join in the struggle, but part of me was
also really afraid just by reading about the events in Birmingham. The people who protested with
Dr. King showed a tremendous amount of courage and passion that could not be put out by fire
hoses or dogs. I do not think that anyone, who has not been the victim of the extreme oppression
that the blacks were victims of for hundreds of years, could understand why the civil rights
movement was necessary at that time. Dr. King realized that you cannot wait for people to change
their attitudes or beliefs, you have to help them see the error of their beliefs. It is easy for someone
who is not being oppressed to tell you to wait. When you and your families are the victims of
oppression and violence, you reach a breaking point when you realize that things need to change
now. Dr. King had the courage to say that publicly, and people followed him in the struggle because
of that courage.
When you believe in something that much nothing, not even death can stop the struggle. Even after
Dr. King was assassinated, his legacy lived on. His legacy was something that was

The Portrayal Analysis Of The Wild Hearts CanT Be Broken
Andrew Young once said, "There's no problem on the planet that can't be solved without violence.
That's the lesson of the civil rights movement." Throughout any movement in U.S. history, including
the Civil Rights Movement people had to make sacrifices in order to fight for what they believe to
be right. Some people even lost their lives, which are some of the sacrifices Pink is trying to tell us
in her song, but she never will give up not matter the circumstances. The song, "Wild Hearts Can't
Be Broken," relates to the Civil Rights Movement because they both represent how groups of
people never gave up for what they believe in. Throughout the song, "Wild Hearts Can't Be
Broken," Pink talks about the rage, terror, and sickness that is ... Show more content on

Some examples of these were: African Americans can't play together, they can't attend the same
restaurants, schools, or even restrooms, and that white nurses in hospitals can't help an African
American male. From these laws came sacrifices that African Americans had to endure, even to the
point of death. A couple of the important deaths were Emmett Till who got killed after he flirted
with a white girl, and George Lee who tried to expose some of the Jim Crow Laws, and died during
one of his protests. These deaths were quite common until a man named, Martin Luther King Jr.
came into the picture. At the beginning of his campaign he wanted three things to happen: Bring
publicity to major civil rights activities and efforts, emphasize and encourage the importance of
non–violent protest and resistance, provide leadership to the African–American civil rights
movement. He did just that throughout the Civil Rights Movement, and was a major contributor to
the ending of the movement in 1968. In both the Civil Rights Movement and the song "Wild Hearts
Can't Be Broken," they both had to make sacrifices, but neither of them stopped them from reaching
their goal. By never giving up for what they believe in, African Americans in the Civil Rights
Movement, and people in the song, "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken," both made sacrifices for they
believe in. In the song, "Wild

You Cant Cross The Sea Merely By Standing And Staring At...
When Rabindranath Tagore said "You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the
water" he meant that people can't expect things to just happen if you just stand there just waiting for
something to happen by not doing anything. My interpretation of the quote is that you are not able
to succeed at something that you won't put in any effort because in the metaphor you are not able to
cross the sea by just standing there, staring at water. The metaphor relates to extreme sports because
usually to participate in extreme sports you need practice and determination. Some people will go
into doing extreme sports without practicing or have the complete determination and also
concentration. Going into something as dangerous as extreme sports you need to have all three;
practice, determination, and concentration. I agree with Tagore's metaphor because I believe that
you can't just expect for everything to happen when you aren't doing anything and if you want to
succeed at something you need to work for it. For example, you can't look at Mount Everest and
expect to be able to climb the mountain without being physically prepared. Nothing will ever

get to a certain level of a sport, it takes 15 years dedicated training, which is not something you
would associate with a thrill– seeker." This evidence relates to Tagore's metaphor because Brymer
believes you have to have experience before doing any extreme sports. Most people who participate
in extreme sports can train up to 15 years. It takes a lot of discipline and determination to train for
15 years to climb Mount Everest or participate in any extreme sports, because Brymer believes you

Tom Cant Character Analysis
Tom Canty was a poverty–stricken young boy, who grew up in a somewhat immoral family. Despite
this, Tom developed himself sticking to good morals, as he displayed throughout the story. For
example, Tom displayed his perseverance in rarely complaining throughout his rough life.
Furthermore, growing up poorly, he was often considerate of others, as he understood their troubles.
Lastly, although he lived the life of a beggar, Tom was an honest young man. Tom Canty, a young
pauper boy, despite growing up in a rather destitute neighborhood, lead a good moral youth, and
displayed the virtues of perseverance, compassion, and integrity. Since he had been raised in a poor
environment, Tom grew to be a perseverant boy who tried his best despite difficulty. Whenever Tom
came home without earning any money from begging, he would be beaten by both his father and
grandmother, and sent to bed without dinner. Despite this, Tom did not think of his life as
particularly disagreeable, and enjoyed thinking of himself as a prince. His wonderful fantasies of
princehood comforted Tom whenever he was particularly down, and encouraged him to be

His family repeatedly tells him that he will not be able to take his fortune with him when he dies,
which means that they assume that he will have to leave them his money. This shows that Uncle
Basil succeeded in his plan to take his money with him even into death through having himself
cremated in a coffin lined with his fortune. Through these decisions, Uncle Basil is proud of his
miserly decisions and his clever plans to ultimately prove his family wrong.
In the novel Divergent by Veronica Roth, Tris shows pride through taking risks to prove that she is
not weak. Tris joins the fearless Dauntless faction in order to hide her divergence from normal
human tendencies, but she must also make it through her Dauntless initiation. One example of Tris
showing pride by taking risks is when Tris volunteers to jump off a building first. "I am proud. It
will get me into trouble someday, but today it makes me brave...I don't think. I just bend my knees
and jump" (Roth 57–58). Tris knows that she is proud, and she understands that pride can be both
beneficial and dangerous. In the situation of jumping of a tall building, her pride is a positive trait
that makes her brave enough to take risks and prove herself worthy of being part of Dauntless when
she doubts herself. Another example of Tris's pride is when she takes the responsibility of saving the
factions. She explains, "The best I can hope for is to destroy the simulation before someone kills

Students Can't or Won't ? "Can't or Won't: The Culture of Helplessness" article by Lori Isbell was
about how students always find a way to expand instructions and make the teachers have the

Isbell started off with a story about one of her students who asked her a stupid question.
It was a stupid question because the student had the book which had the name of the author on the

may seem like a stupid question ,but she(the student) might have lost the book, missed it when she

she uses) online most of the students wouldn't even look at it. Same thing with the textbooks, class
syllabus, and the daily calendar. Although, Isbell needs to think about how everyone has some lazy
days, are busy, and/or may have something serious going on that just doesn't have their mind
flowing right to remember to bring their textbook(s). Isbell talked about how one of her colleges
approved a proposal that now teachers have to respond to student's email and they have to hand

proposal because do teachers fight for students to have accountability or provide better instructions.

Cant Hardly Wait Compared To The Canterbury Tales
Canterbury Tales Compare/Contrast Essay
Satire as described by the Webster dictionary is a way of using humor to show the weaknesses or
bad qualities of a person, government, society, etc. One of the first examples of satirical English
writing was Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales. The Canterbury Tales revolve around an
eclectic group of pilgrims on a religious journey to St. Thomas Beckett's shrine . The true intent of
this classic tale was to expose all of 14th century England to the corruptness of the cast system in
London. Chaucer executed his purpose by including characters of various statures into his story and
discreetly criticizing them by using humor. In doing so he also criticized the morals of aristocracy at
that time. Centuries later Chaucer's interpretation of society continues to be used in literature and
other forms of art today. Can't Hardly Wait is an example of a film that embodies Chaucer's ideas.
This cheesy 1990s classic romance is set at a high school graduation party. The main plot of a boy
trying to get his dream girl is simply an unimportant factor compared to screenwriter Deborah
Kaplan's true purpose: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Knight as described by Chaucer, is a man of great stature. Like other knights of this time, he
was usually accompanied by royalty and "had embarked with many a noble host" (Canterbury 62).
The Knight was a far cry from the corrupt characters in this tale because unlike them, he did not
abuse his power. The attire of the Knight proved that he not only worked hard but also lived
modestly. Although he was wealthy, his cloaks did not readily support that fact, for "He wore a
fustian tunic stained and dark" (Canterbury 77). He was so admired for his chivalrous nature that
many referred to him as "a true, perfect gentle–knight" (Canterbury

This idea is brilliant because when you're eating a very hot thing with something right after it

Examples Of Why You Cant Repeat The Past In The Great Gatsby
In the book The Great Gatsby Nick tells Gatsby "you can't repeat the past" gatsby responds with
"Why of course you can!" I believe gatsby is wrong in this situation. The Great Gatsby does a very
good job in showing us that gatsby is wrong in many different ways and examples. There are also
many real life that can be used as examples to Gatsby being wrong. Also in life and in the book
there are opportunities where you can repeat the past in a good or bad way. My first example of why
you can't repeat the past is in life emotional states change everyday. In this book you can see that
Gatsby and Daisy are not the same people they were 5 years before when they fell in love. Gatsby is
so in love with daisy that he is blind to the truth that they aren't the same they once were neither of
them. An example of this being true is "Gatsby and I in turn leaned down and took the small
reluctant hand. Afterword he kept looking at the child with surprise. I don't think he had ever really
believed in its existence before." (117 Fitzgerald) This shows that Daisy has had a child, which
completely changes someone.Gatsby cannot change such a thing, and nothing will ever be the same

Taking a Look at Gay Marriage
To be honest, lets just say that you are super in love with your boyfriend or girlfriend, now what
would you do if someone told you that you cant be with that person because you guys are straight.
What if everyone looked down upon people that were straight because the only "right" way is to be
gay? Do you see what I'm getting at? People these days think that its okay to tell people who they
can and cannot love. Like seriously? If you love someone you should be with them! Love is love no
matter what age or gender. We live in such a world where we "live" by the bible, and how we all are
so "religious". Don't get me wrong i am very religious, but not to the point where I'm like, "You will
go to hell if you are homosexual". In all reality the bible says absolutely nothing about people being
homosexual, it never criticizes it and it never says that they will go to hell. No one should ever
judge someone for being in love. What if someone judged you for loving your significant other, or
your crush, or your dream guy/girl. Like seriously. What is wrong with our world today, we judge
when in all reality, we dont have any room to talk. People think that they can change homosexuals
by sending them to church, or having a priest come and take the "demon" that is inside of them,
when what they are really doing is making the person think that they cant love, then they go off and
date a person like a "normal" person would. Are they really happy? Are they satisfied with their life?

Anne-Marie Slaughter-Why Women Still CanT Have It All
Being at the Top is Great, But....... In Anne–Marie Slaughter's essay "Why Women Still Can't Have
It all," Slaughter wants to incorporate her professional success and family to have a balanced life.
Slaughter is the president and CEO of the New American Foundation, a nonprofit, nonpartisan
public policy institute and has worked as director of policy planning for the U.S. State Department.
Slaughter is concerned about not being a supportive mother to her children because of work issues.
Her career requires her to work for long periods of time while juggling reports and writing
commentaries on drafts, leaving little room to spend time with her family. I agree that working in a
high position job can have a negative effect on how most women view their success because they
are constantly working without being able to put their energy to something they value–family.
Slaughter has two teenage boys who need her attention, especially since her 14–year–old son is
misbehaving in school. She receives calls in Washington, D.C. during work, but her son lives in
New Jersey and there was not much she could do. While working in Washington, D.C., she is only
able to come home on the weekends and for two teenage boys spending time with their mother only
on the weekends is not enough. When Slaughter's two– year public–service was over she
immediately went home to her family. Slaughter was excited to leave her job, but others viewed this
as a disappointment. These reactions caused her to think

You Cant Steal A Culture By John Mcworter
You cant steal a culture was written by John McWorter. He is writing this paper to a general
audience, or anyone interested about culture appropriation. Jon McWorter is an american studies
teacher at Columbia University. McWorter connected with the topic because he sees the problem
everyday. His arguments strongly written, and he is trying to explain that everyone thinks culture
appropriations wrong, but its just a normal thing. His opinion is clearly stated that culture
appropriation is fine. People are jus taking it the wrong way. It should be flattery not offending.
McWorter states his thesis statement in the first sentence. He uses logos to explain his essay. He
gives a lot of examples of where culture appropriation is used in the wrong way, or taken the wrong
way. Like when he references Harlem and Miley Cyrus. The main one was when White gay men
imitate black women. I thought the essay was very convincing, not just because I agree that culture
appropriation isn 't a bad thing but, because of the great references. He seemed to be writing to a
general population, or anyone that wanted to know his opinion. The whole paper is all on facts that
he has found. Anyone could read this essay, but if you don 't agree you might be offended. Yes, he
does state a lot of facts, but his opinions are a major part too. His opinion is most of the essay saying
that the people accusing of culture appropriation don 't really know the meaning. They are just

Death did not stop him, because no matter what anyone did or said about him, he had won; he beat

The name, Margot, will now because of this character, will mean uncaring. Every aspect of her life

Society can make you feel different in multiple ways especially in this day of age, they way you

Persuasive Essay : Money CanT Buy You Happiness
Copeland 1
Micheal Copeland
Mrs. Deustch, Evangel Christian Academy
DE English Persuasive Paper
Final Draft:
22 November 2017
Money Makes Everyone Happy
We all have heard the phrase "money can't buy you happiness." That phrase is a lie because mostly
everything in today's society revolves around money. The things people like revolve around money
too. What a coincidence? Let's say a person is upset so they go buy their favorite ice cream because
they know it will make them happy. That person had the money to invest in something that made
them happy. Or on an even bigger let's say someone has been fantasizing about a car and they
finally get enough money to purchase their dream car. This person is likely to be very happy. If it
was not for the money, they would not have gotten that dream car, so basically the money made
them happy. The truth is money makes people happy. You get so many more opportunities when you
have money. For example when you have money you can go on trips. "A memorable trip takes more
luster with the passage of time. Even an unpleasant adventure may produce stories that grow in
value as the years pass.
Copeland 2
The happiest experiences often involve people we care about, and thus taps into human beings'
greatest source of meaning"(Moeller). When you spend money on trips you make some memories
that you will most likely remember for a life time. Memories that a person can look back at and
think about. Memories that can bring a smile to your face. All of these memories you get from
taking a trip basically come down to some money you invested. Investing money to make memories
that will make you happy is worth it because people just don't forget memories. Memories are
priceless, they can never be taken away from you. This is just one example on how money can bring
you happiness. Another example on how money can bring you happiness is when you invest your
money in other people and make them happy. For some reason when a person makes someone else
happy it just makes them happy, too. Maybe because knowing we brought a smile to someone else
makes us feel good about ourselves. Spending money on others can bring the biggest happiness
bang when people invest in others in a way that

Why Women Still CanT Have It All By Anne-Marie Slaughter
In the article "Why Women Still Can't Have It All," Anne–Marie Slaughter explains why women

Slaughter is a very successful women who had worked for Hillary Clinton at the state department

This reason could eventually lead to women either being stressed because they don't have enough
time to fulfill their needs at work and home, and also could eventually lead to a decision against
having children altogether. Slaughter also includes examples of some very successful women that
have struggled to raise a family due to the fact that they are so limited with time, while most
successful men, if not all, are still able to balance the time of have a family and a high–end job. It's
easy to understand how this can be a very difficult problem for most women to get around. Even if
they find a very successful job, it's much more challenging for them to be a good mom while also
doing their overall best in their profession. I thought Slaughter shared a very interesting quote
halfway through her article to help sum up her thoughts from Mary Matalin, (a lady who resigned
after only two years in order to spend more time with her children.) Matalin says, "having control of
your schedule is the only way that women who want a career and a family can make it work."
"Quote from The Atlantic." In the article "Why Men Still Can't Have It All," by Richard Dorment, a
senior writer and editor in esquire magazine, Dorment responds to Slaughter's article by claiming
men face the same problem as women do. He claims that recent times have made it much more
difficult for men to balance work and family life. He

The Significance Of The Play It CanT Happen Here By...
The title of the play is "It Can't Happen Here." The playwright of the play is Sinclair Lewis. The
production company was Foothill College Theatre Arts Department. The director was Bruce
McLeod. I watch the play on November 18 at Foothill College. "It Can't Happen Here" follows a
middle aged journalist with his and his family's struggles with a new political government. A new
popular candidate is running for president. This new candidate is making outrageous claims to make
America go back to its right glory. Because of this false hope people believe in him and elect him
and then all hell breaks loose. This play is a dark parody of democracy and freedom. The design of
the stage was gorgeous. It looked like it was ripped out of a late 30s or 40s movie. Everyone wear
clothing from that time period. Everyone was wearing clean cut clothes, dresses, suits, and ties. I
believe that there was a time skip in the play which the actors changed their clothes to a more
modern look. The always use more technology after the time skip. They use laptops which showed
there was some time passed. The lighting was very well done. When a character was talking in their
head or by themselves they would a single light showed on them while all the other lights were off.
If there was an important scene they would turn down the lights to show the significance. The music
that they played was from the 1930s and the 1940s. The songs had a jazzy and blues kind of feel to
it. All of this made it possible

It was what all transgender women were doing since we can't get proper medical help. I remember

due to the side effects of unsupervised transition. Again, I asked myself, "Why can't somebody do

I decided to move to the US by myself when I was 17 so I can receive the best education in a place

Why People Cant Go To Church
On page 90 when he was talking about the people in the church that might not be saved, he said
"Their case is past all hope; they are crying in extreme misery and perfect despair; but here you are
in the land of the living and in the house of God and have an opportunity to obtain salvation." This
really sticks out to me because every Sunday that we sit in church, its easy to take it for granite, but
its really a privilege. Some people cant go to a church legally, and others feel as though they wont
be accepted, there's so many reasons why people cant or don't go to church. This convicts me
because I realize just how blessed I am to be able to worship God in a public place and to be able to
speak about Him. Edwards goes on to say, "And now

Miniature Horse Cant Analysis
I agree with this rule because the animals could put people in danger but a dog or a miniature horse
cant.
According to Source 2,service animals that help people carry diseases that could affect humans.
Another example is, that some service animals are not trained and some animals like birds could
leave droppings on the floor which could create an unhealthy environment for other people. An
example of this would be a man wants to attend a hotel for the night and he has a pig to his side if
these rules didn't apply then the hotel would let him go but since these rules apply they wouldn't let
go in.
In addition, some hotels would let any service animals go in the hotel. This could make a lot of noise
which could annoy people and the animals could

Can T Ask Cant Tell Analysis
In the article "Can't Ask, Can't Tell: How institutional Review Boards Keep Sex in the Closet" by
Janice M Irvine, the social scientists are frustrated with the Institutional Review Boards for stymied
research about sexuality. The IRBs believe that the topic of sexuality is too sensitive for studies, and
it is has been considered to be one of the special cases that do not want to present to the public. For
decades, the IRBs' works are heavily influenced by the Belmont's three principles: respect for
persons, beneficence, and justice. However, sexuality has become one of the topics that the IRBs
would automatically decline because they believe that it is not qualified any of the Belmont's three
principles. In 2011, Irvine conducted a survey

Cant Feel My Face Meaning Explained

  • 1. Cant Feel My Face Meaning Can't Feel My Face is the most heard song on the radio at the moment, according to Billboard. The Weeknd's upbeat song is heard all across the nation. Here in Orange County, every time you turn the radio on, the song is played on one or almost every radio channel you turn to. With technology advances now and with iTunes Radio, this song plays on channels there as well. We sing along to this song and we do not realize it at times. When hearing this song at first, you'd think it was about a toxic relationship between two lovers. But if you truly listen to the song and focus, the true meaning behind the lyrics is the love addiction for Cocaine not a toxic relationship between two people. At the beginning of the song, "And I know she'll be the death ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Your first thought is the love between the couple is toxic and lethal yet, he cannot resist his partner. But, really it is a reference to Cocaine. Cocaine is given a female voice. He uses personification by bringing the drug to life, where it can communicate with him and become part of his life. He knows that this "girl" meaning, Cocaine is going to be the death of him. While in use of Cocaine he gets numb. "But at least we'll both be beautiful and stay forever young/ This I know, (yeah) this I know" (3–4). You say again, that he is singing about how the love is so very satisfying. But he is actually meaning that his desire for this young and beautiful woman makes him feel good. He feels as if he is invincible when he has her. Even though he seems to be aware of the consequences that come with feeling young and beautiful; with the use of Cocaine. "She told me, 'Don't worry about it.'/ She told me, 'Don't worry no more.'/ We both knew we can't go without it/ She told me you'll ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 2. Zahrah The Windseeker And You CanT Touch My Hair Analysis Nnedi Okorafor–Mbachu and Phoebe Robinson, through their respective books Zahrah the Windseeker and You Can't Touch My Hair: And Other Things I Still Have to Explain, eloquently tackle the ways their characters recognize and overcome the fear of the unknown through word choice and character development. In her book, Zahrah the Windseeker, Nnedi Okorafor–Mbachu does not waste any time and explicitly states in the preface that it is "a general fear of the unknown that plagues the entire society of the Ooni Kingdom" (Okorafor). Okorafor's use of the word "plague" utilizes the negative connotation with this fear and indicates that future characters have to overcome this "plague." Referring to "the entire society," Okorafor also includes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to the fact being dada is so rare and no one else from her hometown is dada, the townspeople fear Zahrah because they do not know or understand what it means to be dada and what separates them from normal people. As a part of the bullying, people call Zahrah names like: '"Vine head," "snake lady," "swamp witch," and "freak"' (Okorafor 3). Despite initially believing the vicious nicknames and allowing those words to define her, Zahrah overcomes her submission to society's perception of her and embraces her hair, as well as her other dada qualities. In the end, after completing her quest and saving her best friend, Zahrah stands before a mirror and studies herself: "I look at myself in the mirror, my dark brown skin, my dada hair... I looked into my own eyes and smiled when I saw the new glint in them" (Okorafor 277). A "new glint" in her eyes represents a new perspective of herself; a perspective that is not defined by society's fear of her. For Zahrah, it took going on an incredibly dangerous and nearly–impossible mission in order to accept herself and to shake people's fear of the unknown. She now has confidence in herself and believes in herself. Similarly, Robinson deals with this same issue of facing other the fear of the unknown, however she deals with the problem in a more realistic manner. Phoebe Robinson deals with white people's fear of her natural hair. As mentioned earlier, Robinson clearly recognizes this fear, and writes in her book, " when something ... • 3. Summary Of Quotes From 'Cant You Stop Cleaning' Quote 1: "Before the flooding, Rodney was always on my case. Why don't I clean more? I mean, his view was, once I quit working, the house should be immaculate. And for me, I never wanted to be a housewife ever. So, Okay, Ill do a little cleaning. Ill do a little housewife stuff, and I'll do stuff with cooking. So before the flood, he was like "Cant we get this place a little cleaner?" And ever since the flood, IM downstairs cleaning, cleaning, cleaning, and he's been on my case: 'Cant you stop Cleaning.'" Some of the families had a lot of tension and got mad at each other because they felt that the other did not do enough to prepare for the flood. Most of the husbands and wives fought over nothing substantial, just a lot fussing to fuss and some of the time this led to divorce. Divorce and separations are common among people facing financial and emotional strain. Most of the women were very emotional after the flood because they felt as if they had lost all of what they had worked so hard to get so they turned their anger to their husbands. For example Diana, she took a lot of her frustration out on her husband because she thought that he did not do much to help them out to prevent their home from some of the damage before the flood. There were a lot of emotions fighting after the flood while the men felt that they had to be the strong ones, but they still had the sadness in their hearts because they blamed themselves because they looked at themselves as the protectors of their families. Some of the couples turned to divorce because they felt it was the right time, they had nothing to fight about because everything they had together was taken away by the flood while some of the couples stayed together and fought it out. Many couples wanted to attempt to remain together because of their children. But all after the flood ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. You Cant Cross The Sea Merely By Standing And Staring At... When Rabindranath Tagore states "You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water," he is suggesting that you can't achieve your life goals just by thinking and hoping about them. You actually have to work very hard and try to achieve that goal. The author is claiming that you actually need to work for your goals. For example the Everest climbers had a lot to risk and a lot to lose but they still climbed the mountain anyway because they knew that they wouldn't get to the top of that mountain just from hoping they would get carried up there. This quote relates to extreme sports because if you want to do an extreme sport really badly like going wingsuit flying you can't just look at the helicopter take off to drop the people. You actually have to want to jump out of that helicopter and take the risk yourself. As we see in the in the article, "A Solemn Warning to Wingsuit Flyers", that a man named Geoffrey Robson died due to wingsuit flying. But that man new the risks of the sport and he took it anyway, because he didn't want to be the one that stares at the ocean hoping he crossed it. He wanted to be the one who crossed it before the other guy got there to stare at it even if it meant he was risking his life to do so. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. Analysis Of 'Why Millennials CanT Grow Up' The Millennial Generation is earning 20 percent less than the Generation X and the Baby Boomers. Psychotherapist at NYU (according to the university's website), Brooke Donatone argues in her article, "Why Millennials Can't Grow Up" that millennials experience "extended adolescence that delays adulthood" (Donatone 1). The author believes that the reasons for that happening are parents by their helicopter parenting and the economy because there are less high paying jobs that allow millennials to be financially independent. Throughout the article, Donatone explains that there is evidence on how it is not millennials' fault that they are experiencing delayed adulthood. Therefore, it is safe to assume that her intended audience are the parents ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His article also contrasts Donatone's second flaw of unprofessional tone because he continuously stays professional and mindful of his audience that comes from world of business professionals. Donatone proposes that the reason for millennials' struggles with adulthood, like working, dealing with people or even doing laundry is caused by helicopter parenting; however, she uses Amy, a girl that comes from a family with moderate wealth, to wrongly generalize that all millennials come from similar background. It is especially inappropriate and unfair to generalize about this topic because she talks about such a big and diverse group that is millennial generation, and not everyone comes from the same background. Donatone shows that Amy comes from middle class family when she says "She finally had to dump the part–time job, was still unable to do laundry, and often stayed up until 2 a.m. to complete her homework because she didn't know how to manage her time without her parents ..." (Donatone 1)." In order for someone to be able to drop their job they need someone that can help with their financial needs and wants, therefore it is safe to assume that Amy comes from a family with moderate wealth that is able to support those needs and wants. The author's moment when she generalizes that all millennials are like Amy and come from similar background is when she states "It's easy to generalize an entire population by its ... Cant Stop Won T Stop Sociology I believe that Can't Stop, Won't Stop, Wild Style, Egyptian Lover, Finding the funk, and Breakin' n' Enterin' speak to each other in helping narrate hip hop's origin mythologies. Each of these represent different sectors of the black community and how it all intertwines. Breaking down each element it will be easy to see how each goes hand in hand with each other. Can't Stop, Won't Stop is an element that gives a lot of information from different areas. This provides a highlight on some of the most important people of the time, Fab Five Freddy. The background is shown to be described with a Jamaican element. Gangs of the Bronx had their own contribution. This was the beginnings of DJ Kool Herc and brought up street parties. Egyptian Lover definitely brought out a different element out of the other four sectors. The reasoning of the name "Egyptian Lover" was to show and let women know he was a lover and not a fighter. Hip Hop was seen as an aggressive genre where people viewed it as being very violent. You are able to see how he interacted with the music to create a song. He was able to bring out Cold Crush Brothers, the Zulu Nation. Finding the funk outlined how funk influenced hip hop in a very immediate way. Funk was an element that was highlighted within hip hop. • 7. Why We Cant Wait Rhetorical Questions In 1861 America had a civil war in order to free African Americans from slavery. Thirty five years later, the Supreme Court case Plessy vs. Furgeson ruled "separate but equal." However, in the 1960's, the races were separate but far from equal. In Martin Luther King Jr.'s book "Why We Cant Wait" he uses rhetorical questions, pathos, and diction of the word freedom in order to persuade people to make a change in the way African Americans were being treated. First, king uses rhetorical questions in order to get people to think about the way Africans Americans were being treated. He uses the example of two young children asking, "Why does misery constantly haunt the Negro?" How bad do things need to be for this question to cross a young child's mind? This question is asked by children in order to make people think of how badly Africans are being treated, and persuade them to make a change. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You Cant Say That John Stuart Mill Summary You Cant Say That: An analysis of Mills and The Justness of Censorship John Stuart Mill's On liberty is credited with being one of the most influential pieces of political theory ever written. His writings and societal observations on liberty, freedom of expression, and the limit of authority in a free society. Some of Mill's most interesting claims were regarding freedom of speech for all opinions, a topic very relevant in the incredibly polarized American system. Mills views are even extended to protect what is considered hate speech which raises interesting societal questions. John Stuart Mill argues that it is never right for a government to censor free speech. Yet we do punish hate speech and have rules against derogatory or biased speech. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mills of course does not just mean amiable discussions regarding similar opinions but focuses on the importance of protecting dissenting viewpoints. Mill claims that "opinion is compelled to silence, that opinion may, for aught we can certainly know, be true. To deny this is to assume our own infallibility" (Mills, 88). This is is to protect against what Mill calls social tyranny of the majority. Social Tyranny of the majority is when the majority viewpoint dominants what happens in a society and silences or ignores any other minority opinion or idea (Mill). This silencing of discussion can lead to the stagnation of society as the flow of civilization follows the majority rule and is not advanced through the development and understanding of dissenting viewpoints. Mill recognizes that truth is a fluid topic, with every person developing their own truths based off lived experience and what is important to them, not one person can claim to know the whole truth. Just because the majority views the truth one way, does not mean the minority is wrong and should not be treated as such. Censoring of these viewpoints does not make the majority any more correct, it just closes down a way to view something differently which may improve the majority ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Dr. Martin Luther King’s Why We Cant Wait Essay Dr. Martin Luther King's Why We Cant Wait While reading Dr. King's novel, I was able to get an uncensored idea of what African Americans went through in their struggle for civil rights. I cannot comprehend the extent to which they suffered while protesting, and it would be ignorant of me to think that I could understand. The many people who fought with Martin Luther King, Jr. for civil rights understand something about this country that I am only beginning to discover. How could people think that this kind of oppression was tolerable and that the blacks did not have a right and freedom to protest? Part of me wanted to be there to help make a difference and join in the struggle, but part of me was also really afraid just by reading about the events in Birmingham. The people who protested with Dr. King showed a tremendous amount of courage and passion that could not be put out by fire hoses or dogs. I do not think that anyone, who has not been the victim of the extreme oppression that the blacks were victims of for hundreds of years, could understand why the civil rights movement was necessary at that time. Dr. King realized that you cannot wait for people to change their attitudes or beliefs, you have to help them see the error of their beliefs. It is easy for someone who is not being oppressed to tell you to wait. When you and your families are the victims of oppression and violence, you reach a breaking point when you realize that things need to change now. • 11. The Portrayal Analysis Of The Wild Hearts CanT Be Broken Andrew Young once said, "There's no problem on the planet that can't be solved without violence. That's the lesson of the civil rights movement." Throughout any movement in U.S. history, including the Civil Rights Movement people had to make sacrifices in order to fight for what they believe to be right. Some people even lost their lives, which are some of the sacrifices Pink is trying to tell us in her song, but she never will give up not matter the circumstances. Some examples of these were: African Americans can't play together, they can't attend the same restaurants, schools, or even restrooms, and that white nurses in hospitals can't help an African American male. From these laws came sacrifices that African Americans had to endure, even to the point of death. A couple of the important deaths were Emmett Till who got killed after he flirted with a white girl, and George Lee who tried to expose some of the Jim Crow Laws, and died during one of his protests. These deaths were quite common until a man named, Martin Luther King Jr. came into the picture. At the beginning of his campaign he wanted three things to happen: Bring publicity to major civil rights activities and efforts, emphasize and encourage the importance of non–violent protest and resistance, provide leadership to the African–American civil rights movement. He did just that throughout the Civil Rights Movement, and was a major contributor to the ending of the movement in 1968. In both the Civil Rights Movement and the song "Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken," they both had to make sacrifices, but neither of them stopped them from reaching their goal. • 12. You Cant Cross The Sea Merely By Standing And Staring At... When Rabindranath Tagore said "You can't cross the sea merely by standing and staring at the water" he meant that people can't expect things to just happen if you just stand there just waiting for something to happen by not doing anything. My interpretation of the quote is that you are not able to succeed at something that you won't put in any effort because in the metaphor you are not able to cross the sea by just standing there, staring at water. The metaphor relates to extreme sports because usually to participate in extreme sports you need practice and determination. Some people will go into doing extreme sports without practicing or have the complete determination and also concentration. Going into something as dangerous as extreme sports you need to have all three; practice, determination, and concentration. I agree with Tagore's metaphor because I believe that you can't just expect for everything to happen when you aren't doing anything and if you want to succeed at something you need to work for it. For example, you can't look at Mount Everest and expect to be able to climb the mountain without being physically prepared. Nothing will ever happen if you just ... This evidence relates to Tagore's metaphor because Brymer believes you have to have experience before doing any extreme sports. Most people who participate in extreme sports can train up to 15 years. Despite this, Tom developed himself sticking to good morals, as he displayed throughout the story. For example, Tom displayed his perseverance in rarely complaining throughout his rough life. Furthermore, growing up poorly, he was often considerate of others, as he understood their troubles. Lastly, although he lived the life of a beggar, Tom was an honest young man. Tom Canty, a young pauper boy, despite growing up in a rather destitute neighborhood, lead a good moral youth, and displayed the virtues of perseverance, compassion, and integrity. Since he had been raised in a poor environment, Tom grew to be a perseverant boy who tried his best despite difficulty. Whenever Tom came home without earning any money from begging, he would be beaten by both his father and grandmother, and sent to bed without dinner. Despite this, Tom did not think of his life as particularly disagreeable, and enjoyed thinking of himself as a prince. My older siblings could all ride bikes, and I wanted the same independence that they had. Instead of going to my dad for help, I walked my pink unicorn bike to the top of a hill by myself. I got on the bike and pushed off. That day I fell several times, but I was not going to give in to failure. I wanted to prove that I could do anything that my older siblings could do. Finally, I got back up to the top of the hill, pushed off, pedaled, and I was riding my bike all by myself. Through these decisions, Uncle Basil is proud of his miserly decisions and his clever plans to ultimately prove his family wrong. In the novel Divergent by Veronica Roth, Tris shows pride through taking risks to prove that she is not weak. Tris joins the fearless Dauntless faction in order to hide her divergence from normal human tendencies, but she must also make it through her Dauntless initiation. One example of Tris showing pride by taking risks is when Tris volunteers to jump off a building first. "I am proud. It will get me into trouble someday, but today it makes me brave...I don't think. I just bend my knees and jump" (Roth 57–58). Tris knows that she is proud, and she understands that pride can be both beneficial and dangerous. In the situation of jumping of a tall building, her pride is a positive trait that makes her brave enough to take risks and prove herself worthy of being part of Dauntless when she doubts herself. • 20. Cant Hardly Wait Compared To The Canterbury Tales Canterbury Tales Compare/Contrast Essay Satire as described by the Webster dictionary is a way of using humor to show the weaknesses or bad qualities of a person, government, society, etc. One of the first examples of satirical English writing was Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales. The Canterbury Tales revolve around an eclectic group of pilgrims on a religious journey to St. Thomas Beckett's shrine . The true intent of this classic tale was to expose all of 14th century England to the corruptness of the cast system in London. Chaucer executed his purpose by including characters of various statures into his story and discreetly criticizing them by using humor. In doing so he also criticized the morals of aristocracy at that time. Centuries later Chaucer's interpretation of society continues to be used in literature and other forms of art today. Can't Hardly Wait is an example of a film that embodies Chaucer's ideas. This cheesy 1990s classic romance is set at a high school graduation party. His arguments strongly written, and he is trying to explain that everyone thinks culture appropriations wrong, but its just a normal thing. His opinion is clearly stated that culture appropriation is fine. People are jus taking it the wrong way. It should be flattery not offending. McWorter states his thesis statement in the first sentence. He uses logos to explain his essay. He gives a lot of examples of where culture appropriation is used in the wrong way, or taken the wrong way. Like when he references Harlem and Miley Cyrus. The main one was when White gay men imitate black women. I thought the essay was very convincing, not just because I agree that culture appropriation isn 't a bad thing but, because of the great references. He seemed to be writing to a general population, or anyone that wanted to know his opinion. The whole paper is all on facts that he has found. Anyone could read this essay, but if you don 't agree you might be offended. Yes, he does state a lot of facts, but his opinions are a major part too. His opinion is most of the essay saying that the people accusing of culture appropriation don 't really know the meaning. They are just looking for something to say, ... A person was more than likely extremely poor, or in the lucky upper 1% that was extremely wealthy. The middle class was virtually not existent. All of these income groups, including those characterized in our three stories, wanted money because it supposedly brought happiness, but were actually struggling to cling to the intangible, unreachable feeling of love. Life is the lion to Francis Macomber, the "worst one can do is kill you" and in a way it did (Hemmingway 1587). He was the only one to be physically depraved because of his early death. He, ultimately, was desperate to be a man and desperate to have "no bloody fear" in leaving Margaret (Hemmingway 1587). The name, Margot, will now because of this character, will mean uncaring. Every aspect of her life had been by evil and hate for herself, which she then deposited onto her husband. She is the type of person that in order to make herself feel worthy has to taunt, tease and slander someone; she is "simply enameled in American female cruelty" (Hemmingway 1569). She is desperate to stay young and beautiful; she was desperate to make sure she was not left behind. She had Francis's ticket in her hot little hand but kept in close to her because without it he would have left her. For "Margot was too beautiful for Macomber to divorce her and Macomber had too much money for Margot ever to leave him" (Hemmingway 1579). This is a marital "check" to keep each other in a position where they might not be able to leave. This is clear connection to Judy Jones and the way she loves to play with a man's mind. • 31. Cant Dress Society can make you feel different in multiple ways especially in this day of age, they way you dress takes a big toll in society nowadays. If your dressed in the latest Jordan's or the best clothes in the mall you are considered cool and are complimented more than someone who cant dress or is considered lame or looked over most of the time. Just because someone doesn't have on a name brand shirt gives another person the right to talk about them the right to talk about someone? People don't understand when people do things like that opens up other doors such as insecurities, bulling, etc. Does expensive clothes make someone better than another? Or does expensive clothes boost ones ego up? I don't believe in someone buying expensive clothes to just to fit in. In this day of age people are very judge mental; especially teens. You are considered cool if you are dressed in the latest attire, and peoples biggest fear as a teenager is being a outcast; I would know because i'm a teen ... Even the people that can dress couldn't always dress sometime in their life. No one should be considered lame because of the way they are dressed. • 32. Persuasive Essay : Money CanT Buy You Happiness Copeland 1 Micheal Copeland Mrs. Deustch, Evangel Christian Academy DE English Persuasive Paper Final Draft: 22 November 2017 Money Makes Everyone Happy We all have heard the phrase "money can't buy you happiness." That phrase is a lie because mostly everything in today's society revolves around money. The things people like revolve around money too. What a coincidence? Let's say a person is upset so they go buy their favorite ice cream because they know it will make them happy. That person had the money to invest in something that made them happy. Or on an even bigger let's say someone has been fantasizing about a car and they finally get enough money to purchase their dream car. This person is likely to be very happy. If it was not for the money, they would not have gotten that dream car, so basically the money made them happy. The truth is money makes people happy. You get so many more opportunities when you have money. For example when you have money you can go on trips. "A memorable trip takes more luster with the passage of time. Even an unpleasant adventure may produce stories that grow in value as the years pass. Copeland 2 The happiest experiences often involve people we care about, and thus taps into human beings' greatest source of meaning"(Moeller). When you spend money on trips you make some memories that you will most likely remember for a life time. Memories that a person can look back at and think about. Memories that can bring a smile to your face. All of these memories you get from taking a trip basically come down to some money you invested. Investing money to make memories that will make you happy is worth it because people just don't forget memories. Memories are priceless, they can never be taken away from you. This is just one example on how money can bring you happiness. Another example on how money can bring you happiness is when you invest your money in other people and make them happy. For some reason when a person makes someone else happy it just makes them happy, too. Maybe because knowing we brought a smile to someone else makes us feel good about ourselves. Spending money on others can bring the biggest happiness bang when people invest in others in a way that

Why Women Still CanT Have It All By Anne-Marie Slaughter In the article "Why Women Still Can't Have It All," Anne–Marie Slaughter explains why women can't manage both the difficulties of a high–end job while doing the best they can as a parent. Slaughter is a very successful women who had worked for Hillary Clinton at the state department being the first woman policy planner. She begins the essay by explaining a conversation that came up between herself and a colleague who held a senior position in the White House. This reason could eventually lead to women either being stressed because they don't have enough time to fulfill their needs at work and home, and also could eventually lead to a decision against having children altogether. Slaughter also includes examples of some very successful women that have struggled to raise a family due to the fact that they are so limited with time, while most successful men, if not all, are still able to balance the time of have a family and a high–end job. It's easy to understand how this can be a very difficult problem for most women to get around. Even if they find a very successful job, it's much more challenging for them to be a good mom while also doing their overall best in their profession. I thought Slaughter shared a very interesting quote halfway through her article to help sum up her thoughts from Mary Matalin, (a lady who resigned after only two years in order to spend more time with her children.) Matalin says, "having control of your schedule is the only way that women who want a career and a family can make it work." "Quote from The Atlantic." In the article "Why Men Still Can't Have It All," by Richard Dorment, a senior writer and editor in esquire magazine, Dorment responds to Slaughter's article by claiming men face the same problem as women do. • 35. The Significance Of The Play It CanT Happen Here By... The title of the play is "It Can't Happen Here." The playwright of the play is Sinclair Lewis. The production company was Foothill College Theatre Arts Department. The director was Bruce McLeod. I watch the play on November 18 at Foothill College. "It Can't Happen Here" follows a middle aged journalist with his and his family's struggles with a new political government. A new popular candidate is running for president. This new candidate is making outrageous claims to make America go back to its right glory. Because of this false hope people believe in him and elect him and then all hell breaks loose. This play is a dark parody of democracy and freedom. The design of the stage was gorgeous. It looked like it was ripped out of a late 30s or 40s movie. Everyone wear clothing from that time period. Everyone was wearing clean cut clothes, dresses, suits, and ties. I believe that there was a time skip in the play which the actors changed their clothes to a more modern look. The always use more technology after the time skip. They use laptops which showed there was some time passed. The lighting was very well done. When a character was talking in their head or by themselves they would a single light showed on them while all the other lights were off. If there was an important scene they would turn down the lights to show the significance. The music that they played was from the 1930s and the 1940s. The songs had a jazzy and blues kind of feel to it. All of this made it possible ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was what all transgender women were doing since we can't get proper medical help. I remember taking several birth control pills a day as I had no concept of the importance of proper treatment. Again, I asked myself, "Why can't somebody do something about it?" That is when it hit me, I am that somebody. I decided to move to the US by myself when I was 17 so I can receive the best education in a place where I would feel safe and also obtain adequate health care so I can safely continue my hormone replacement therapy. Limitations in acquiring health care are also present here in the United States. As a person without a health insurance, I have experienced the demand for providers that can offer affordable healthcare especially in places that are underserved. I met Angie, a nurse practitioner who specializes in transgender health and she slowly walked me through my treatment plan. Not only she treated my disorder, she treated me as a person. April 2015, California, Taylor Alesana, 16 years old, took her own life after being bullied in school for being a transgender woman. Why People Cant Go To Church On page 90 when he was talking about the people in the church that might not be saved, he said "Their case is past all hope; they are crying in extreme misery and perfect despair; but here you are in the land of the living and in the house of God and have an opportunity to obtain salvation." This really sticks out to me because every Sunday that we sit in church, its easy to take it for granite, but its really a privilege. Some people cant go to a church legally, and others feel as though they wont be accepted, there's so many reasons why people cant or don't go to church. The IRBs believe that the topic of sexuality is too sensitive for studies, and it is has been considered to be one of the special cases that do not want to present to the public. For decades, the IRBs' works are heavily influenced by the Belmont's three principles: respect for persons, beneficence, and justice.
