Franklin high school dance & fusion By Amanda Rodriguez
Fusion is a dance company, not a dance team. We have a Fusion class everyday 2nd and 6th periods. They receive P.E. or Fine Arts credit. Auditions are held in May for the following school year. Ms. Turley formed the Fusion Dance Company 13 years ago. Only about 14-19 dancers are chosen by professional dancers/ choreographers/ teachers. Fusion dance
Fusion auditions The fusion auditions are toward the end of the school year It is a day long and they perform a dance and learn a dance on try out day. About 100 girls try out and only about 14 make it Its something that these girls like. Any one interested in performing for the fusion is allowed Fusion is all year long, they do recitals and dance performances all year long. They perform for are homecoming spirit week and more. Every one who makes it worked hard for there spot and with out the dance team that would be one less club that we can enjoy being in and that’s why it’s a good thing we have fusion.
The dance moves Modern/contemporary dance-Developed in the 20th century, modern dance broke away from a formal tradition to pioneer an experimental, free-form way of moving across the stage. Early proponents were Isadora Duncan, Ruth ST.Denis, and Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey and Twyla Tharp. Jazz/tap dance-The term "jazz dance" has been used to describe a forever-changing form of popular and creative dance movement ever since the 1920s. It represents our popular culture, and as the culture changes, so does the appearance of jazz dance. The shortened sounds of tap dancing can be considered as jazz dancing. The common subject binding these obviously different things together is rhythm, or to be more exact, rhythm that is composed in African influences. The big X- the big X is a move that relaxes you. It includes the most favorite of all dance yoga and palates. It is a calming and very unique. The big X takes about weeks to remember all the moves involved in the big X . These are the few of many.. Dance movies involved in dance. Dancing is a way of expression ,people do it because its what helps them through whatever is happening. When you are dancing your in your own world ,no none but you and the music. Are society would never be a great place without those little things that make us who we are. Those know dream to dance, and those who love to do it go for what you want. Here at Franklin fusion is an opportunity to open the doors of dance to you and whom ever else.

Competitions " We don't compete because I feel that art should be shared and not compared. If we did, I know that Fusion would win every award, because they are so awesome- well trained -skilled- beautiful dancers!" - Pam Turley
