AE and members adopt Glasgow Declaration calling for:
• a rights based approach to dementia,
• development of national dementia strategies in all European
countries,
• development of a European dementia strategy with increased
funding for dementia research and improved exchange of
good practices,
• greater global collaboration on dementia.

• EUR 555 million funding on dementia under FP7
• EUR 170 million by Innovative Medicines Initiative
– (PharmaCog, EMIF, AETIONOMY & EPAD)
• JPND – Joint Programme Neurodegenerative Disease
Research
– 28 participating countries including Canada, Albania, Canada, Israel,
Norway, Switzerland, Turkey)
– 15 ongoing projects (2011-2014) for EUR 68.5 million

• Call on European Commission and Member States
– Recognise Governmental expert group on dementia
– Intensify research on dementia
– Identify and exchange good practices on prevention, timely diagnosis,
post-diagnostic support, treatment and care, training of health
professionals
– Improve epidemiological information on dementia
– Support non-governmental organisations in the field of dementia
