2. NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET
What I find appealing about this horror film is that has a good storyline
explaining why this man is after all these teenagers. What I like the most is
the way the death of each character takes place, the way they end up asleep
even thought they are trying so hard not to they don't even know that they are
asleep.
The best part of this film for me was when all the parents of the children that
this man “Freddy” had molested in nursery went and burned him alive, but the
bit that frightened me the most was the way he killed each character because
it built up tension an fear with the atmosphere of the scene and the sound.
I think the actors did a very good job because it felt so real almost like i was
inside the fear that the characters were feeling was the same as the audience
who were watching.
3. DRAG ME TO HELL
Christine brown in a competition with a competent colleague for an assistant manager position and
isn't too sure about her status with a boyfriend. Worried that her boss will think less of her if she
shows weakness, she refuses a time extension on a loan to an old woman. The old woman places a
curse on this lady. This curse result in her being taken to hell in a few days . With the help of a
psychic, she tries to get rid herself of the demon, but faces several obstacles in the attempt.
The scariest part of this film was when the old woman would tap her fingers and stare and the sound
of her nails tapping against the table would get louder and louder. Also when the girl got dragged to
hell and when the old woman would appear everywhere.
4. THE ORPHAN
The film orphan was really scary for me I had to cover my eyes mostly through it ,I
personally think the director of orphan understands the psychological basis for all
the fears
I like the tension that was getting built before each main part. I liked how the girl
thinks of her next strategies to hurt the family. The bit the really got me at the end
was that she was a 33 year old lady not a child. What also scared me is that it was a
disease that made her look young.
5. DEVIL
This film is about a grudge that’s been held by an old woman to a guy because he killed
someone. The whole movie is set in a hotel, six people are in a lift including the old woman and
then the lift breaks down and stops all this was the old woman that was doing it because she is
the devil. People came to try to fix the lift and save people. There were cameras in the lift and
then the lift lights turned of and one person died. All the people in the lift died one by one.
The devil confronts the guy that killed a person at the end . This film was frightening because of
the way the people died and it made you think who was killing these people and you thought it
was one person until they died themselves and you jumped to the next person.
It scared me to find out that it was the old woman that killed all these people so she was the
devil.
6. INSIDIOUS
In the beginning of this film it wasn’t really frightening it was just weird and dodgy
and quite obvious that the house that this family moved into was haunted because
things fell on there own so I didn’t really find it scary. But as the film went deeper
into detail I found it quite frightening when I finally understood that the boy was
possessed even though the cover of the film did have the boy on it looking haunted i
still didn’t pitch that.
What helped to make the scary effect was that it was dark and ghost jumped out
and the music also created tension and made me jump.
7. WHAT THESE FILMS HAVE IN COMMON
Insidious and the orphan are similar because the main characters are kids that are possessed.
Nightmare on elm street is similar to Drag me to hell and devil because the main character are
seeking revenge.
In addition Devil and Drag me to hell’s main character are both old women that are evil.
Nightmare on elm street and Drag me to hell have very scary looking main characters which
make it obvious that they are evil or possessed.
