2. INTRODUCTION
β’ I will be talking about my movie that I have chosen which is The Grudge.
This movie comes under the Horror genre. I will also be analyzing and
including what the main point of the movie is.
β’ The Grudge is an American Horror film. It is a remake of the Japanese
film Ju-On. The film was released in North America on October 22,
2004 by Columbia Pictures and was directed by Takashi Shimizu.
Starting Sarah Michelle Gellar, Jason Behr, KaDee Strickland, Clea
DuVall and Bill Pullman
β’ The movies set in Japan and the main character has move din to a
new house but by doing so she has awaken a demon
β’ However this movie was not very successful it was the weakest entry
3. The Grudge is about a curse that is created when a person dies.
Those who encounter this evil supernatural force die and the curse is
born repeatedly passed from victim to victim in an endless growing
chain of horror.
This film fits in to the Horror genre perfectly as there are scenes in the
movie which may frighten the audience and make them scream.
7. SOUND
β’ In this movie they use a high pitch sound like bones are breaking. They
only use this sound in the movie to aware the audience that she is near
and someone is going to die as well as it also catches the audience
attention and gives them a fright and makes them think what is going to
happen.
8. SETTING
The setting of the film is mainly in the dark house
that the main antagonist is in. However there are
scenes where there is light. In my opinion, I see
these lightings as contrast. Light being good and
heroic, while darkness represents evil and
supremacy. The props of the film is the house and
the kid. Whoever enters the house is in danger as
there is a curse reborn repeatedly, passed from
victim to victim in an endless, growing chain of
horror. The kid died in the house so he kills
anyone who steps in the house
9. MAKE UP
In this movie the make up matches the characters the woman and the kid
are wearing white make up and black smudged under eye liner to make
their eyes look dark and scary. The woman has long black hair covering
half of her face and a white long dress.
10. ANALYSIS OF THE OPENING SCENE
β’ From the first scene in this movie the actors
are calm like everything is alright but as
soon as the killer starts chasing them you
can tell by their facial expressions they are
very scared and from the way they run and
scream they try to escape from the killer.
β’ These scenes make it more interesting and
catches the audiences attention as they
would want to know what will happen next.
β’ Also people like to watch a movie that has
weird or creepy sounds or screams which
give them a little fright.
11. ANALYSIS OF THE MIDDLE SCENE
In this scene you could tell she's a little worried but is still calm until she
could hear the creepy sound she has all mixed and confused emotions
she's frightened scared and doesn't know what to do.
