Brent Shapiro Foundation Educates about Good Samaritan Laws Raising awareness of the dangers of alcohol and substance abuse among young people, the Brent Shapiro Foundation works to educate the community and improve addicts' chances of survival with its Save A Life Cards. The cards notify people who live in California and states that have passed "Good Samaritan" laws that they can seek medical care for someone who has overdosed and not have to worry about being arrested or prosecuted for possessing small amounts of drugs.
Brent Shapiro Foundation Educates about Good Samaritan Laws To date, the Brent Shapiro Foundation has distributed 5,000,000 free Save A Life Cards throughout the country, including 750,000 in New Jersey after the state passed its Good Samaritan Act. Other states that have passed laws providing limited immunity to "Good Samaritans" possessing small amounts of drugs include Colorado, New Mexico, New York, Illinois, Florida, and North Carolina.
