to describe what something looks like:

 Now in your groups, using your senses
chart, write down some sensory words to
describe these pictures.
Taste
 Here are a couple words that you can use to
describe what something tastes like:
1. sour
2. bitter
3. fruity
4. cold
5. juicy
Taste, cont.
 Take a couple of minutes and describe the taste of
the words below on your senses chart in your
groups.
Lemon
Strawberry smoothie
Touch
 Here are a couple words that you can use to
describe what feels like:
1. rough
2. jagged
3. squishy
4. furry
5. silky
Touch, cont.
 On your senses chart, talk in your groups and
come up with what each of the terms below would
feel like.
A glass of water
A teddy bear
Applying what you’ve learn
 I now what I want you to do is pick a noun
(person, place, thing, or scene) and describe it using
sensory words. Write a paragraph on that noun but you
are not allowed to say what you are describing. You have
5-8 minutes to complete the paragraph. Once time is up
we will do a class discussion.
Example Paragraph
 The sweet smell of sugar seems to call me in the
evenings. The lure of its deliciousness is hard to resist.
When the temptation is too much to handle, I tip-toe
into the kitchen, past the judgmental eyes of the photos
hanging on the wall, and over the cracking sounds of the
hardwood floors. The sight of those beautifully-rounded
treats only increases the pounding of my heart and
salivating in my mouth. “M” means mine; all mine! The
taste of its succulent, melting goodness on my tongue
causes all my senses to celebrate. Mmm & Mmm good!
