• Competency: Students will demonstrate an understanding
  of the powers and duties of the Presidency.
• SWBAT: Identify qualifications listed in the Constitution
  for president and vice president.
• SWBAT: Understand the function of the line of
  succession.
• SWBAT: Discuss the significance of the 20th and 22nd
  amendment.
• SWBAT: Identify current presidential leaders and there
  party platforms.




Competency/ Objectives
• Constitution sets forth 3
  qualifications:
1. Be a native-born U.S.
    Citizen
2. Be at least 35 years of age
3. Have been a resident of
    the United States for at
    least 14 years.
• 4 year terms
• 22nd Amendment (1951) set
  a two term limit to the
  Presidency




The Presidency
• Salary= $400,000
• $ 50,000 non-taxable
  allowance
• $100,000 allowance for
  travel costs
• Obama is the first
  African American
  president.
• All presidents have
  been Christian.

• Serve as president if
  president dies.                                        Harry S Truman for
• 8 presidents have died in                              FDR.
  office.
• 1 resigned.
• Serves 4 year term
• Salary= 210,000 & 10,000
  taxable expense allowance.
