of many magazine’s
sometimes showing the
main feature as a group
artist. As well as this, she
is covering the title
slightly. This is a common
feature within music
magazines. Therefore, I
have chosen to use this
in my magazine.

show it is less
important than
the headlines.

the title of my
magazine.
Straplines and headlines- To
draw in the audience and tell
them what is inside the
magazine.
Headline of the main feature- This
is bigger than the other text to
show this is important.
Footer- To show extra information
that is within the magazine. On
my magazine it shows other artist
of the genre R&B which is the
main genre of my music
magazine.
Barcode, Issue number, price –
this is important information for
regular audience would like to
view. Therefore, this is a smaller
font as it is the least important
information on the page.
Model- my model takes up the
whole page as he is the main
feature of the magazine.
Colours- Used three colours for my
house style

and the main bands of the magazine.
• If the audience is more mature they
may have a more structured layout.
• Tagline to draw in the target
audience.
• Commonly a one coloured
background to draw more attention to
the headlines.

5. CONTENTS PAGE: BILLBOARD MUSIC
MAGAZINE.
Clearly states with the tile
“contents” to show you
quickly and easily you are
looking at the contents
page. This is a common
convention within a music
magazine contents pages to
state that the audience is
looking at the contents
page. The title contents is
usually bigger and bolder
than the rest of the text and
usually resembles a title.
The pictures show the audience what is in
the magazine and also gives a wider
target audience with the amount of
celebrities are within the magazine,
showing a wider understanding of who is
featured within the magazine without
taking a look and reading the contents.
The side bar shows the audience what
is a part of the magazine with
numbers and colours breaking up the
amount of contents into sections to
show easily were things are located.
As well as this they have a sub-
heading to show the audience what
type of features the magazine has.
The subheadings consist of: music,
albums, songs and this week.
As well as the side bar containing the
contents of the magazine, the section
closer to the celebrities pictures shows
features that would draw the audience in
more tan the other headlines as well as
events and information about the website.
I have decided to place all my social
media platforms on the contents page like
billboard has.

8. DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD: BILLBOARD MUSIC
MAGAZINE.The title of the double
page spread takes up a
lot of room on the double
page spread. This shows
the a clear indication to
the audience that they are
reading the feature of the
magazine. I have chosen
to use this on my
magazine as this is a
common convention of a
music magazine.
The article for this
magazine is in two
columns which is a
common convention of a
double page spread.
However, this can range
to 3-4 columns. In my
music magazine I had 3
columns.
The picture of
Beyonce where she is
over one page of the
double page spread.
This shows that she is
the main feature of the
magazine. I have
chosen to use this
convention throughout
my double page
spread. However, my
model does not take
up the whole page like
Beyonce does on this
double page spread.
As well as this, the
model is taking a
picture on a block
background.
Therefore, directing
the audience to the
main feature.
It is a common convention for a magazine article to have a
drop capital at the start of an article. However, this magazine
challenges that and doesn’t he one.
The article does not take up to much space on the page showing
the audience that they don’t have to much to read.
