3. To the west of
Westminster Abbey you can see
Buckingham Palace. It is a royal
residence. The ceremony of the
changing of the guards which
takes place in front of
Buckingham Palace is of great
interest to the tourists.

Houses of Parliament in
Westminster . It is a
beautiful building with
two towers and a very
big clock called Big Ben.

5. St Paul’s Cathedral was
completed in 1710. The famous English
architect Christopher Wren planned
and built St. Paul’s Cathedral.It is 157
metres in length and 110 metres high
and its bell is the biggest in London
and weighs 17 tons. It took
Christopher Wren 35 years to plan and
build St. Paul’s Cathedral.

times and was strengthened by
William the Conqueror. It was at
times a fortress, palace and
prison.

9. Near the Tower is
Tower Bridge. It was built
in 1894. It is made of two
one thousand ton parts
which are raised and
lowered.
