Compose a minimum of two replies to classmates. Focus on
their points and indicate if you agree or disagree with their
answers. Cite the articles you read to strengthen your replies.
1.Kenya Johnson
List the title of each the sources you chose, and list the main
points or arguments made by each author.
. Negative effects of using technology in today's classroom.
Science. Retrieved from
http://techin.oureverydaylife.com/negative-effects-using-
technology-todays-classroom-1549.html
The main point of this article was cost. The author explains how
the cost for adding more computers and/or laptops takes away
funding for other programs that are vital to the student learning.
And as for BYOD to school, tends to put pressure on parents to
go out and purchase devices for their student to utilize in class.
Some parents may not be able to afford these devices.

your own device”? Retrieved from
http://neatoday.org/2012/07/19/should-schools-embrace-bring-
your-own-device
-----The main point of this article is appropriate training for
teachers and students. The author explained how it is important
for the teachers to receive the proper training to keep students
on task and the teacher has to be able to monitor the student’s
activity on their device. Teachers have to be able to train
students to use their devices appropriately for school.

in education: iPad, tablet [Video file]. Retrieved from

The main point the author made in this video is that technology
in the classroom is a great idea and allows students to learn at
their pace. Technology is a part of the growing world and
children need to learn how to use computers, laptops, and IPads
to be prepared for the future.
Using technology to teach literacy in the early childhood
classroom. (n.d.). Retrieved from
http://wikiproject421.wikispaces.com/Sarah+and+Alexandra
The main point the editor made in this article is choosing the
right technology to teach Literacy in K-5. The article also
explains how technology plays a large role in the workplace and
we have to start preparing our youth for the real world. The
article also goes on to explain how students have to learn how
to read non-printed material and communicate with others via
emails.
Next, give your opinion of the content you explored, focusing
on the questions below. Elaborate on your opinions, citing each
source to support your ideas.
How can technology best be used in schools?
Technology can best be used in schools for teaching literacy. It
is vital that students learn how to communicate using
technology. Technology is in the work place and we have to
prepare our students for the future.
Using technology to teach literacy in the early childhood
classroom. (n.d.). Retrieved from

What factors contribute to successful technology use in
schools?
Teachers being trained on how to use technology in the
classroom are successful factors of how to use technology in
schools. Teachers’ knowing the rules about how to incorporate
BYOD in the classroom is another successful factor of how to
use technology in the classroom. And training students on how
to use technology in school is another successful factor that
contributes to technology in schools.

your own device”? Retrieved from
http://neatoday.org/2012/07/19/should-schools-embrace-bring-
your-own-device
Are there some technologies that should not be used in schools?
Yes, some social media sites should not be used in schools.
Some students may post too much information on these sites.
Students’ social media participation should be monitored while
in school.

your own device”? Retrieved from
http://neatoday.org/2012/07/19/should-schools-embrace-bring-

Should we stop trying to integrate technology in schools?
No! The world is changing and technology is taking over. We
want our student to be equipped to go out into the workplace, so
we have to give them the necessary tools.

Khenalyn Perez
PRO: Why integrate technology into the curriculum: This article
states how technology can be very useful and how it helps
students to know that technology can enhance their learning.
This article shares how interesting technology can be when
learning and having to use such resourceful materials.
CON: Issues and Barriers to integrating technology: This article
states how the school or classroom may lack the hardware.
Some schools or classrooms may not have enough computers for
the amount of students, it may be very slow, limited internet
connectivity, it really just depends on an issue. There may be
also some lack of professional development, such as directed
integrating technology into the classroom.
HOW CAN TECHNOLOGY BEST BE USED IN SCHOOLS?
Having ipads given to each student and having an online portal
can be a useful technology source. Each student can access the
same portal as the teacher and the teacher can teach through the
portal. The teacher can have assignments, projects, and test
uploaded on the portal and they can go over it together as a
class. The students can have access in class and at home and
also have homework or study guides uploaded for them.
WHAT FACTORS CONTRIBUTE TO SUCCESSFUL
TECHNOLOGY USE IN SCHOOL?
According to Millar(2013) It is just the value of technology, it
can be lost if the teachers are not so comfortable with the
gadget.
ARE THERE SOME TECHNOLOGIES THAT SHOULD NOT
BE USED IN SCHOOL?
I truly believe that all technologies should be used in school.
Now a days, students use so many different tools of technology
and different types of equipment, such as phones, ipads, tablets,
computers, and laptops. I would say whatever they are
comfortable with, they can use in the classroom as well.
SHOULD WE STOP TRYING TO INTEGRATE
TECHNOLOGY IN SCHOOL?
I would say no, the only reason why is because technology is
just resourceful and it is great for the students. The students
find it very interesting and exciting to use technology today.
According to (Lederer, 2012) it is an exciting way to connect
and interact.
