requested a time limit parking zone on the south
curb line of the 100 block Grove Place
• Staff conducted an on-site review of the
requested location and identified several areas
of concern
◊ the roadway is 30 feet wide and the requested
parking location is across the street from an
existing one hour parking zone

◊ volume of traffic created by two apartment
complexes and a private school immediately
east of the requested parking location
◊ parking zones on opposing side of the street
could create a bottleneck for traffic traveling
onto and off of Broadway
◊ traffic queuing during peak traffic periods

line of Grove Place adjacent to the Ridgemont
Property building rear parking lot and across
from the Tree-house Apartments
● This location has 135 feet of curb line
providing 115 feet of on-street parking

Grove Place
◊ “at all times” on Grove Place, south side,
between Broadway and Cleveland Court

side, between a point 6 ½ feet of the
property line on the east side of Broadway

● Staff proposes an Ordinance amending
Chapter 18, Traffic, of the Code of Ordinances
by making the following changes:

◊ repeal the existing Grove Place restrictions
on the south side of Grove Place;
◊ adopt a new “at all times restriction “Grove
Place, south side, from the east line of
Broadway Avenue easterly for a distance of
161 feet”;

◊ adopt a new “No longer than 1 hour, 8:00
a.m. to 6:00 p.m., except Sunday” restriction
“Grove Place, south side, beginning 195
feet from the east line of Broadway Avenue
and continuing for a distance of 115 feet”

Fiscal Impact

The creation or repealing of restricted and time
limit parking zones by a municipality is authorized
in Section 542.202(a)(2) of the Texas
Transportation Code and Section 18-99,
“Designation and Marking of Parking Spaces and
Areas Where Parking is Prohibited or Limited”, of
the Alamo Heights City Codes.
