check on Current Employees
Apart from the pre-employment background check,
now employers are conducting background check
on the current or existing employees.
Though it's not widely accepted, employers from
certain industries started taking active interest in
reevaluating their employees.
But, how good it is? You may
be asking, right?
Reasons of screening current employees
For better security
Re-screening of employees adds an extra layer
of security to the businesses.
If the employer feels scary about the employees' suspicious
activities, it's good to conduct background check on them to
know if they are involved in some criminal activities recently.
Degrading job performance
If an employee was performing better in the past
but now it is degrading highly, then there is
something happening with the employee.
As it will incur huge losses to the business,
employers want to conduct background
check on them to know the reason.
Giving employees are promoted
If someone joined as an accountant in an

before screening

need to get consent from the current
employee to conduct background
check.
It's upon the employees if they are agreeing
with this screening process or not.
In most cases, the consent given by the
employees for background check before joining
the company is considered as per FCRA rule.
However, the rules vary from state to state,
so you should be aware about the background
check rules on current employees.
Some states have rules to get consent every
time you want to conduct background check.
Also the employers can state from the very first that re-
screening will be done in some specific intervals. So that
the employees will have no complain to it.
You must tell the employees why this re-screening
is being done, its benefits and how they can co-
operate with your checking process.
What to do after background check results?
Employers ask—what should they do after
finding something bad from the re-
screening process of current employees?
If you want to terminate a employee after the
background check result, make sure you have all
the proofs and valid reasons to do that.
Check when the offense is made, how big or small that
offense is, and how that will affect your business.
Analyze these things and comply to the FCRA rules.
However, you should always look for
accurate background check
information. A false information will do
nothing but increase your stress.
