• In giving advice, should/shouldn’t,
must/mustn’t and had better are
commonly used
– I think you should take more exercise.
– You shouldn’t smoke.
– The government must do something about
the economy.
– You mustn’t come late.
– I think you had better do more exercise.

• when you say “you should be doing
something”, you mean that it is the best
thing to do or what somebody is
expected to do at this moment.
– I really should be studying for my exam

(it’s a good idea to do it right now)

‘should have done’.
