● How to know the dependencies for the packages
– Yum deplist “package_name”
● List all version available for the package
– yum list --showduplicates “package_name”

Version lock
● Sometime performing update will corrupt some
applications because it may update the applications
dependent packages, and the applications require
specific version of dependent package.
● How to solve this “Dependency Issues” ?
– Lock package versions using Yum
● Yum has a plug-in that allows an administrator to
lock down a package to a specific version “yum-
plugin-versionlock”

Yum to lock package versions
● yum versionlock list
● yum versionlock add “package_name”
● yum versionlock delete “package_name”
● yum versionlock clear
Once a specific version of a package is locked,
Yum will not attempt to update the package when
the yum update command runs.
