2. Daimler to hike capacity to 70,000 units; decision after 2014 The world's largest truck maker Daimler will almost double its production capacity to 70,000 units annually at the upcoming Indian facility. Final decision in this regard will be taken only after 2014. The company is investing Rs 4,400 crore through its wholly-owned subsidiary -- Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV)-- for a new facility at Oragadam in Tamil Nadu. This plant at TN will come with an installed capacity to produce 36,000 units per annum.
3. Many cos resort to anti-competitive hiring practices: Experts Faced with rising attrition, many companies are engaging in anti-competitive hiring practices, including pacts that restrain entities from recruiting each other's employees, according to HR experts. Stressing that no company wants to lose out on "niche talent", experts opined that such practices are mostly seen in the IT sector , which has high attrition rates. Several cases in the past have been reported where because of such practices (like cold calling) employees have failed to join their dream companies.
4. India-EU trade deal may nullify UK migration cap Britain's efforts to limit migration of professionals from outside the European Union is likely to be neutralized by an India-EU trade agreement, that may allow Indian professionals to bypass British immigration laws and take up work in UK. Placing the annual limit on non-EU professionals is a key promise of the coalition government. David Frost, the director general of the British Chambers of Commerce, said, “We cannot allow any proposal to improve the UK-India trade relationship to be delayed because of disagreements within Europe over the movement of highly skilled migrants".
