[ANTHONY]Ever since finished 1st app we have been under pressure to growThis time last year the company was just me in my office at homeToday I employ 5 dedicated mobile developers in various capacity from either full time developers to part time freelancers, some are students here at YorkRight now we have a fully booked development schedule into the middle of JanuaryOur clients arent always happy when I tell them there next project wont be for another 3 monthsThe main problem I face from a commercial angle is finding designers and developers with experience of the industryHave had to outsource projects overseas which makes project management much harder
[ANTHONY]6 months ago the WSJ published an article identifying the “Mobile App Talent Pool” as being shallow. That was 6 months ago!In that time we have had a new hardware and software from Apple, Nokia’s migration to Windows Phone and the release Mango (Thank Lee), Googles 1st Tablet OS and soon the Icecream SandwichNot to mention the dozens of hardware devices that have been released to offer these platforms at much more affordable pricesIn october it was announced that smartphones now outnumber the number of people in USPeople Per Hour (the Uks most popular freelancer website), the average budget for a project with the term “iphone” doubled in value from £3k to £6k
