At the heart of ACCA-X’s creation is the desire to work with you, our learning providers, to provide accessible, affordable and high quality learning that provides ambitious individuals anywhere with the opportunity to obtain the skills and qualifications they can use for a rewarding career.

Let me now share with you more details about the courses and what they contain and what they look like.
There are a total of 5 courses developed:
Introduction to Financial and Management Accounting – which includes FA1 and MA1 learning.
Intermediate Financial and Management Accounting – which includes FA2 and MA2 learning.
F1 – Accountant in Business
F2 – Management Accounting
F3 – Financial Accounting
Each course will be 10 weeks long and will provide 30 hours of online learning and will require students to spend another 10 to 20 hours of self directed learning.
The courses will run four times a year: January, April, July and October.
Whilst the first two courses are available for free for anyone anywhere in the world, the 3 courses shaded in yellow are available as a pilot programme only in Bangladesh, India, Nigeria and Zambia. These courses will also be paid-for courses, which means students will need to pay for these courses, but they will be very affordable rates. We have also developed a business to business solution for our partners at competitive price points.
Our solution is developed in conjunction with 2 major partners.
On a platform and technology front, ACCA will be working with edX, one of the world’s foremost learning technology providers. They are a joint venture between MIT and Stanford and their technology is powered by Google. 40 of the world’s top 50 universities, including, MIT, Harvard, Berkely, Peking University in China, IIT Mumbai amongst others currently use edX. Other notable institutions such as Microsoft, the IMF and the World Economic Forum also utilise the edX platform.
From a learning and content perspective, ACCA will be working with Epigeum, a spinoff company from the Imperial College London, to write and create the content that will be hosted on the edX platform. Epigeum are renowned experts in the area of learning and developing online solutions and have been writing online content for over 90% of the Russell Group universities as well as over 200 institutions world wide.
Secondly, ACCA-X will have a flexible delivery approach.
The solution will be available on desktop and mobile, with low bandwidth and offline options which allow users with poor internet connection to access more easily.
We will also be developing both B2C and B2B solutions that support both individual learners as well as institutions such as learning partners, universities, employers and governments.
The project is also closely aligned to ACCA’s public value mission.
As I’ve highlighted earlier, the learning will utilise state of the art technology, and crucially remain affordable.
While the ACCA and Diploma levels of the solution will be chargeable, we will be offering the Introductory and Intermediate levels of the FIA qualification for free.
Finally ACCA-X will be of the highest quality
the learning experience provided to students will be of the highest quality. It will be developed with highly experienced authors, reviewers and editors with Epigeum leading the programme development.
The learning will utilise the latest technology with a combination of interactive learning components, videos, learning objects, practice questions and mock tests to support students in preparation for their exams.
Firstly, it will be important to understand why we even considered embarking on this journey.
It is increasingly clear that there is an opportunity for Project RED to drive and support demand for the ACCA qualification by offering access to high quality learning, globally, at a more affordable price
Technology is increasingly positively disrupting the way people learn, offering learners the opportunity to consume content at a time and place convenient to them, and at a price point they can afford
The real value in education now is generated through supporting the way people learn, and in creating learning communities that offer extra value to students and a long term, lifetime relationship between the learner and the learning institution

This partnership will allow for our partners to create a low cost blended learning options but with a very high quality online programme that will truly benefit students
The free courses are a source of strong recruitment pipeline for our partners. The lower overall course fees can also attract a larger customer base.
With a low cost blended solution, the potential for a better margin per student (on a growing customer base) will improve bottom line performance.
The blended model allows for learning partners to establish new growth regions in a lean manner (rather than fully staffed offices in new cities, they can send lecturers on a as-needed basis)
The high quality digital learning, coupled with F2F interventions will improve pass rates for students.
The programmes creates a better brand association and alignment with ACCA, Epigeum and edX.

This is an example of some of the innovative ways we are helping students with core accounting concepts – the use of comic strips for instance to help visualise basic principles.

There are also plenty of short engaging videos with transcripts to help students achieve their learning in an effective manner. The videos also allow them to replay them and read the notes provided and help them understand the subject matter better.
There are also different styles of videos, from screencasts, to interviews, to tutor explanations, to graphic illustrations – all to help learners get a good understanding of the material.
There will be tutors to support questions and queries students may have.
One of the major features of digital learning is the peer to peer support network that is formed supporting collaboration across students from around the globe leading to a rich network that will grow over time.
Ultimately, we also would like students to be able to prepare for the ACCA exams and we have produced a high quality question bank with exam style questions.
