1 Product Overview
About this Chapter
This chapter introduces the function characteristics, main parts, transport and storage environment requirements of the
EKCU series of air-cooled unit.
1.1 Brief Introduction
EKCU series of air-cooled unit should be placed at the location that is not accessible to the general public as it
is one kind of professional equipment.
EKCU series of air-cooled unit is a type of medium and large-sized sophisticated environment control system
produced with reference to GB/T19413-2010, and it is applicable for the environment control of equipment
rooms and computer rooms. It aims to guarantee a proper operating environment for precision equipment such
as sensitive equipment, industrial process equipment, communication equipment and computers.
1.1.1 Product Characteristics
EKCU series of air-cooled unit has such advantages as high refrigeration efficiency, wide range of power
supplies, high compatibility, smart monitoring, rapid installation and convenient maintenance.
1. High refrigeration efficiency: the use of efficient scroll compressor together with optimal system matching
and efficient refrigerating coil design ensure efficient heat transfer;
2. Wide range of power supplies: 380V-415V/50Hz 3N - could be used as the power supply. Please contact
Guangdong Euroklimat Air-Conditioning  Refrigeration Co., Ltd. for other power supplies.
3. Smart monitoring: System monitoring and parameter setting can be implemented through the terminal
device, and good man-machine interaction can be realized.
4. Rapid installation: the concept of modular design is used for the indoor unit, which makes the installation
easier and quicker.
1.1.2 Air-cooled Series
EKCU series of air-cooled unit includes two parts, the indoor unit and the outdoor unit. The outdoor unit uses
the operating pressure of refrigeration system to automatically adjust the rotating speed of the fan, minimizing
the noise pollution to the environment while meeting the demand of system refrigeration. EKCU series of
air-cooled unit could also be equipped with the low temperature unit, which ensures the normal refrigeration
operation of the unit in the outdoor environment with the lowest temperature being -35°C. For the use in even
lower temperatures, please consult Guangdong Euroklimat Air-Conditioning  Refrigeration Co., Ltd.
1.2 Model
Models for EKCU series of air-cooled IDU are as shown in Figure 1-1.

1.3 Main Parts
1.3.1 IDU
EKCU series of air-cooled IDU includes such components as the compressor, evaporator, heater,
direct-connected fan, controller, electrode humidifier, thermostatic expansion valve, sight glass and dry filter.
1.3.1.1 Compressor
Efficient and energy-saving scroll compressor is used, with such characteristics as high reliability, low noise,
long service life and easy installation.
1.3.1.2 Evaporator
The finned tube heat exchanger is designed with the highly efficient inner grooved copper tube and fenestrated
aluminum fin with hydrophilic coating plating. It uses CFD flow field analysis and optimized matching to greatly
enhance the heat exchange efficiency.
1.3.1.3 Thermostatic expansion valve
The external balanced thermostatic expansion valve is used for the throttle apparatus, automatically balancing
the flow to ensure efficient heat transfer and system reliability.

1.3.1.4 Electronic expansion valve (optional)
The electronic expansion valve is optional for the throttle apparatus for accurate flow control, and it is highly
efficient and energy saving.
1.3.1.5 Electrode humidifier
The electrode humidifier that is more efficient with large humidifying capacity is used. The electrode has the
function of automatic cleaning and could adapt to the water quality. The structure is simple, which makes the
maintenance quite convenient.
1.3.1.6 Infrared humidifier (optional)
The infrared humidifier featuring high reliability, easy maintenance and good adaptability to water quality could
be chosen.
1.3.1.7 Fan
Direct-connected centrifugal fan with high efficiency and reliability is used, and the centrifugal fan is
characterized by large air volume, long air delivery distance and easy maintenance.
1.3.1.8 Electric heater

1.3.1.9 Sight glasses
Sight glasses could be used for observing the refrigerant state at the window of system circulation, and it is
mainly used for observing the moisture content of the system.
1.3.1.10 Dry filter
The dry filter can effectively remove the moisture in the system within a period of time, and it can also filter the
impurities generated during the long-term operation of the system to ensure the normal operation of the
system.
1.3.1.11 Extended component (optional)
When the equivalent length of the connecting pipe exceeds 30 m, the extended component shall be added to
ensure the normal startup and operation of the unit and improve the reliability of the unit.
1.3.1.12 Low-temperature unit (optional)
When the outdoor temperature is lower than -15°C, the reliable operation of the system could be ensured for
temperatures above -35°C with the addition of the low-temperature unit.
1.3.2 Outdoor Unit
For the outdoor unit, please refer to User Manual for EKCU Series of Air-cooled ODU.
1.3.3 Controller
1.3.3.1 Appearance of the display
The display provides the man-machine interaction interface for query, setting, monitoring and maintenance, as
shown in Figure 1-1

1.3.3.2 Controller functions
1. Single unit control function: It implements logic control on internal components of the single temperature
control equipment to meet the indoor temperature and humidity regulation requirements.
2. Display operation function: Operations such as temperature control equipment setting and status
information query can be performed through the display screen.
3. Group control function: Multiple units work cooperatively to optimize the heat load distribution demand and
greatly reduce energy consumption of the unit; the multi-unit backup function is provided to improve
reliability.
1.3.3.3 Controller characteristics
1. High control precision and fast response
2. Three-level password protection to effectively prevent wrong operations
3. Multiple protection measures such as under/over-voltage protection, automatic restoration of abnormal
power failure and water leakage detection to ensure reliable system operation
4. Real status display: The display module can be used to know the accurate information such as the running
status and time of each part in the temperature control equipment
5. The expert-level fault diagnosis system can automatically display the current fault content and help the
maintenance personnel to maintain the equipment conveniently.
6. Stores up to 200 alarm records and has the power-down memory function;
7. Supports YDT1363 and MODBUS RTU protocol of RS485 with rich BMS interface protocol and realizes
the automatic identification of protocols.
1.3.4 Monitoring System
The monitoring system has such functions as logic control, data collection, sending control, alarm reporting,
data storage, user permission management and group control. The product can be interconnected to the
monitoring system of the user through the communication interface (RS-485) of the monitoring system to
realize remote management.

1. The main control board of equipment implements monitoring through the RS-485 communication mode.
2. At most 32 sets of equipment can be connected in networking group control of equipment. Any unit in the
networking is set to the master unit and connected to the monitoring system through networking.
1.4 Environmental Requirements
1.4.1 Operating Environment
The operating environment for EKCU series of air-cooled unit shall meet the requirements listed in Table 1-1.

The storage environment for EKCU series of air-cooled unit shall meet the requirements listed in Table 1-2.

  • 7. 1 Guangdong Euroklimat Air-Conditioning Refrigeration Co., Ltd. 1 Product Overview About this Chapter This chapter introduces the function characteristics, main parts, transport and storage environment requirements of the EKCU series of air-cooled unit. 1.1 Brief Introduction EKCU series of air-cooled unit should be placed at the location that is not accessible to the general public as it is one kind of professional equipment. EKCU series of air-cooled unit is a type of medium and large-sized sophisticated environment control system produced with reference to GB/T19413-2010, and it is applicable for the environment control of equipment rooms and computer rooms. It aims to guarantee a proper operating environment for precision equipment such as sensitive equipment, industrial process equipment, communication equipment and computers. 1.1.1 Product Characteristics EKCU series of air-cooled unit has such advantages as high refrigeration efficiency, wide range of power supplies, high compatibility, smart monitoring, rapid installation and convenient maintenance. 1. High refrigeration efficiency: the use of efficient scroll compressor together with optimal system matching and efficient refrigerating coil design ensure efficient heat transfer; 2. Wide range of power supplies: 380V-415V/50Hz 3N - could be used as the power supply. Please contact Guangdong Euroklimat Air-Conditioning Refrigeration Co., Ltd. for other power supplies. 3. Smart monitoring: System monitoring and parameter setting can be implemented through the terminal device, and good man-machine interaction can be realized. 4. Rapid installation: the concept of modular design is used for the indoor unit, which makes the installation easier and quicker. 1.1.2 Air-cooled Series EKCU series of air-cooled unit includes two parts, the indoor unit and the outdoor unit. The outdoor unit uses the operating pressure of refrigeration system to automatically adjust the rotating speed of the fan, minimizing the noise pollution to the environment while meeting the demand of system refrigeration. EKCU series of air-cooled unit could also be equipped with the low temperature unit, which ensures the normal refrigeration operation of the unit in the outdoor environment with the lowest temperature being -35°C. For the use in even lower temperatures, please consult Guangdong Euroklimat Air-Conditioning Refrigeration Co., Ltd. 1.2 Model Models for EKCU series of air-cooled IDU are as shown in Figure 1-1.

Figure 1-1 Model 1.3 Main Parts 1.3.1 IDU EKCU series of air-cooled IDU includes such components as the compressor, evaporator, heater, direct-connected fan, controller, electrode humidifier, thermostatic expansion valve, sight glass and dry filter. 1.3.1.1 Compressor Efficient and energy-saving scroll compressor is used, with such characteristics as high reliability, low noise, long service life and easy installation. 1.3.1.2 Evaporator The finned tube heat exchanger is designed with the highly efficient inner grooved copper tube and fenestrated aluminum fin with hydrophilic coating plating. It uses CFD flow field analysis and optimized matching to greatly enhance the heat exchange efficiency. 1.3.1.3 Thermostatic expansion valve The external balanced thermostatic expansion valve is used for the throttle apparatus, automatically balancing the flow to ensure efficient heat transfer and system reliability.
  • 9. 3 Guangdong Euroklimat Air-Conditioning Refrigeration Co., Ltd. 1.3.1.4 Electronic expansion valve (optional) The electronic expansion valve is optional for the throttle apparatus for accurate flow control, and it is highly efficient and energy saving. 1.3.1.5 Electrode humidifier The electrode humidifier that is more efficient with large humidifying capacity is used. The electrode has the function of automatic cleaning and could adapt to the water quality. The structure is simple, which makes the maintenance quite convenient. 1.3.1.6 Infrared humidifier (optional) The infrared humidifier featuring high reliability, easy maintenance and good adaptability to water quality could be chosen. 1.3.1.7 Fan Direct-connected centrifugal fan with high efficiency and reliability is used, and the centrifugal fan is characterized by large air volume, long air delivery distance and easy maintenance. 1.3.1.8 Electric heater 6WDLQOHVV VWHHO compact structure size, large heating capacity, uniform heat small influence RQ internal air resistance of unit. 1.3.1.9 Sight glasses Sight glasses could be used for observing the refrigerant state at the window of system circulation, and it is mainly used for observing the moisture content of the system. 1.3.1.10 Dry filter The dry filter can effectively remove the moisture in the system within a period of time, and it can also filter the impurities generated during the long-term operation of the system to ensure the normal operation of the system. 1.3.1.11 Extended component (optional) When the equivalent length of the connecting pipe exceeds 30 m, the extended component shall be added to ensure the normal startup and operation of the unit and improve the reliability of the unit. 1.3.1.12 Low-temperature unit (optional) When the outdoor temperature is lower than -15°C, the reliable operation of the system could be ensured for temperatures above -35°C with the addition of the low-temperature unit. 1.3.2 Outdoor Unit For the outdoor unit, please refer to User Manual for EKCU Series of Air-cooled ODU. 1.3.3 Controller 1.3.3.1 Appearance of the display The display provides the man-machine interaction interface for query, setting, monitoring and maintenance, as shown in Figure 1-1

Single unit control function: It implements logic control on internal components of the single temperature control equipment to meet the indoor temperature and humidity regulation requirements. 2. Display operation function: Operations such as temperature control equipment setting and status information query can be performed through the display screen. 3. Group control function: Multiple units work cooperatively to optimize the heat load distribution demand and greatly reduce energy consumption of the unit; the multi-unit backup function is provided to improve reliability. 1.3.3.3 Controller characteristics 1. High control precision and fast response 2. Three-level password protection to effectively prevent wrong operations 3. Multiple protection measures such as under/over-voltage protection, automatic restoration of abnormal power failure and water leakage detection to ensure reliable system operation 4. Real status display: The display module can be used to know the accurate information such as the running status and time of each part in the temperature control equipment 5. The expert-level fault diagnosis system can automatically display the current fault content and help the maintenance personnel to maintain the equipment conveniently. 6. Stores up to 200 alarm records and has the power-down memory function; 7. Supports YDT1363 and MODBUS RTU protocol of RS485 with rich BMS interface protocol and realizes the automatic identification of protocols. 1.3.4 Monitoring System The monitoring system has such functions as logic control, data collection, sending control, alarm reporting, data storage, user permission management and group control. The product can be interconnected to the monitoring system of the user through the communication interface (RS-485) of the monitoring system to realize remote management.

At most 32 sets of equipment can be connected in networking group control of equipment. Any unit in the networking is set to the master unit and connected to the monitoring system through networking. 1.4 Environmental Requirements 1.4.1 Operating Environment The operating environment for EKCU series of air-cooled unit shall meet the requirements listed in Table 1-1. Operating voltage range 380V (-10%~+15%), 3N~50Hz 1.4.2 Storage Environment The storage environment for EKCU series of air-cooled unit shall meet the requirements listed in Table 1-2. The performance needs to be calibrated again 6 months later.
