2. MY DAILY DIET
• As opposed to many people, I drink almost
exclusively water, a healthy, clean, and easy
alternative to soft drinks.
• I get most of my protein from meat, and more
specifically chicken.
• I eat on average around 2-3 servings of meat or
meat alternatives per day, generally for dinner.
• For lunch I typically eat homemade and wholegrain
bread filled with nuts.
• I consume around 3 milk products per day.
• For healthier meals I could eat more fruits and
vegetables to fulfill the Food Plan requirements.
3. SNACKS
• While I do eat unhealthy snacks, I try to make conscious efforts to
include healthy alternatives such as fruits or vegetables.
• For school I always pack a banana which is not only nutritious but
also keeps me full for a long time.
• I don’t buy unhealthy snacks at school very often as I bring my own
healthy ones.
• Preparing healthy lunches is something that can be done with just a
little bit of planning.
• I find it is easy to do if while shopping you pay attention to the
nutritional values and getting up a bit earlier to make the lunch.
4. LEADING A BUSY LIFE
• When leading a busy life it is often hard to still remain
well balanced.
• Finding time for nutritious food however has to remain
a priority.
• If I know I won’t have a lot of time I try to still pack a
healthy lunch because otherwise I will usually eat
unhealthy food.
• Leading a busy life also adds to stress a lot of teens
start feeling later on in life.
VS
5. STRESS
• Many teens feel stress throughout high
school.
• This stress often comes from homework,
relationships, or leading a busy life.
• Severe stress can lead to panic attacks,
irritability, depression, or even substance
abuse.
• One way to reduce stress is to do all your
work when it is first assigned and not to
wait right before the deadline.
• It is also helpful to realize the limits of your
body and not to be overscheduled.
• Finally, it is also good to sometimes just
relax, take a deep breath, and listen to
some calming music.
6. MY PERSONAL STRESS
• I don’t get stressed often but when I do, I try to relax and stop
worrying about whatever it is.
• I find it helpful to put down the task I’m working on and do something
fun instead.
• Procrastination is for me the biggest contributor to my stress.
• I used to be more prone to being overscheduled but I have realized
this and have prioritized my only favourite activities.
• I will often listen to some calming music if I have to do work which I
don’t enjoy or which is very repetitive to keep me from becoming
stressed.
7. BODY IMAGE
• Many people see themselves as always imperfect and never accept
their bodies.
• Studies have revealed that 80% of women are unhappy with the
way they look.
• This can lead to serious depression or eating disorders.
• I don’t think I have a problem with my body image but can
understand how advertisements makes teens feel.
• The media always shows that you need to be very skinny and
always looking your best even though it is very unrealistic.
• Often times models will be photoshopped to look even “better”.
8. PHYSICAL ACTIVITY
• Regular physical activity is one of the
biggest contributors to a healthy life and
helps alleviate stress.
• Although I am no longer in any organized
sports, I exercise almost every day at
school.
• Nearly every lunch I play basketball or
hockey in the school gym for about 40
minutes.
• I like the exercise and find it helps me
concentrate better later in day.
• It is also a great way to break up my day to
keep me fresh and ready for all classes.
• Many teens don’t have any physical
activity but I would encourage everyone to
play just a little bit on non competitive
sports.
9. MY LIFE
• I think my life is balanced.
• The food I eat is usually well prepared and full of
nutrients
• Stress is not a major part of my life and when it is I
have found effective strategies to cope with it.
• I am not concerned about my body image and am
happy with the way I look.
• Finally, although I am not part of organized sports, I do
exercise almost everyday and hope to continue doing
so.
